Of Edge Of Work Or Product Patents (Class 72/11.9)
  • Patent number: 8490447
Abstract: In a method and a control device for adjusting a state of a rolling stock, particularly a near-net strip, defined at least by an out-of-parallel condition and/or a curvature of the rolling stock, the rolling stock is transitioned from an initial into an intermediate state by a roll stand and by impressing a stress onto the rolling stock by an additional processing device, and the rolling stock is transitioned from the intermediate into a final state by at least one processing aggregate. By determining whether rolling stock should be fed into the at least one processing aggregate, the intermediate state requiring a non-zero out-of-parallel condition and/or curvature in order to achieve a predetermined final state, and the roll stand and/or the processing device are controlled and/or regulated as a function thereof to adjust the required intermediate state, the shape reliability of an ultimately parallel, non-curved rolling stock can be increased.

  • Patent number: 8302275
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing an iron core comprising: a plate thickness measurement unit for measuring a thickness of the strip as an intermediate product of the iron core; an inlet guide for positioning the strip in a widthwise direction thereof; a mil roll unit for performing a rolling-bending process to the strip fed out of the inlet guide; a restraint jig for shaping the strip fed out of the mil unit and holding a curvature thereof constant; and a curvature measurement unit for measuring a curvature of the strip to which the rolling-bending process has been performed by using said mill roll. Position control of the inlet guide, the pressure roll unit, and the restraint jig is performed based on at least one of the plate thickness and the curvature of the strip.

  • Patent number: 8096159
Abstract: A lubricant supply apparatus for endless hot rolling equipment includes a width-detecting sensor for detecting widths of steel sheets continuously supplied toward a roller, a controller connected to the width-detecting sensor, a lubricant pump connected to and controlled by the controller to supply a lubricant to a lubricant line, solenoid valves disposed on sub lines formed by dividing the lubricant line and controlled by the controller to supply or cut off the lubricant, a water pump connected to and controlled by the controller to supply water to a water line, mixers for mixing the lubricant and the water supplied to the water line for each of the sub lines, and nozzles connected respectively to the mixers and disposed according to a width of the roller so as to spray a mixture onto the roller according to the widths of the steel sheets.

  • Patent number: 6868707
Abstract: A strip rolling mill includes a pair of upper and lower work rolls for rolling a strip, intermediate rolls for supporting each of the paired work rolls, and back-up rolls for supporting each of the intermediate rolls. Each of the work rolls is provided with a tapered portion at one end thereof so that the tapered portions of the work rolls are on opposite sides of roll bodies thereof with respect to roll axis directions. When the material with a constant width is being rolled, axial positions of the work rolls are set at appropriate positions and axial positions of the intermediate rolls are changed to control a thickness distribution in a width direction of the material being rolled. This arrangement significantly improves an edge drop and at the same time minimizes edge drop variations.

  • Patent number: 6604663
Abstract: A control unit of hydraulic pinch rolls 1 comprises: position detectors 10c, 10d that detect position of right and left cylinder pistons 6c; an arithmetical unit 13 that calculates a difference of output 16c, 16d from the position detectors; a controller 14 that processes a calculated value to make correction output; and add-subtract units 18c, 18d that add/subtract the correction output from the controller such that the correction output 17 is added to an end portion of the pinch rolls having a wider gap in a direction to push the gap and the correction output of the same amount is subtracted from the opposite end portion, by which the set values of pressing force control provided for right and left independently are corrected. Thus, a defective winding shape can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6220068
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing the edge drop of a rolled strip in a roll train having one or more roll stands, at least one roll stand having actuators for reducing the edge drop, which are set as a function of the edge drop of the rolled strip running out of the roll stand and, if appropriate, of the edge drop of the rolled strip running into the roll stand, the edge drop being measured with at least one edge drop measuring device, and the values of the edge drop of the rolled strip being determined using a roll gap model, in order to set the actuators for reducing the edge drop at those points on the rolled strip at which the edge drop is not measured.
