  • Patent number: 9958820
Abstract: In a front/back reversing unit, a base metal sheet having rollers attached thereon is engaged with a rotation spindle fixed to a fitting such that the base metal sheet is rotatable in a horizontal direction. When an operation of rolling up a print target medium is started and if winding tension with respect to the print target medium to be wrapped around a winding shaft becomes unbalanced, the front/back reversing unit rotates in accordance with the winding tension so as to balance the winding tension. Then, when the winding tension applied to the print target medium becomes balanced, the front/back reversing unit is returned to its original position by an elastic member, and the roller of the front/back reversing unit and the winding shaft become substantially parallel to each other.

  • Patent number: 8386066
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for suppressing the influence of roll eccentricities on the run-out thickness of a rolled stock, which runs through a rolling stand, roll eccentricities being identified by using a process model and taken into consideration in the determination of a correction signal for at least one final control element, preferably a final control element for the adjustment position, of the rolling stand, wherein the measured tensile force upstream of the rolling stand is fed to the process model to identify the roll eccentricities. According to the invention, variations in tensile force are fed back in a targeted manner to reduce the effects of periodic roll eccentricities on the rolled stock, whereas all other sources of variation are eliminated. A process model of the rolling nip and the rolls, preferably based on the observer principle, produces reliable data on the roll eccentricity.

  • Patent number: 7191627
Abstract: A method for coiling thin metal strip on a coiler mandrel, which is adjusted in diameter, in which, at the beginning, the inner windings of the coil are coiled on the adjusted coiler mandrel diameter, and, after the final winding of the coil, the coiler mandrel is pulled out, or the coil is taken off. One or more profile grooves are pressed into one inner winding or into several adjacent inner windings on the circumference during rotation of the coil.

  • Patent number: 7155950
Abstract: The invention relates to a damper construction (2) of a furnace coiler (1) which can especially be used in Steckel mills (1). A hot rolled strip is respectively coiled onto, and uncoiled off, a drum inside the furnace in a reversing manner, by means of a back and forth transport movement, and is optionally heated. Guiding flaps (6, 6?) are mounted on the displaceable damper (2) of the furnace coiler, for inserting and guiding the rolled strip. In order to improve maintenance work, the dampers (2) and the furnace coiler (1) are embodied as separate components. The dampers (2) are arranged on an element (4?) pertaining to a displaceable roller rack (4), said element being located beneath the furnace coiler (1). Each damper (2) is divided into at least two elements (2?, 2?) which can be hinged together, the two hinged elements being connected by means of a hinge bearing (7) in a pivoting manner.

  • Patent number: 7121130
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an installation for hot-rolling strips using a reversible Steckel rolling frame (8), each side of which is equipped with a respective furnace coiler (9, 10) and a driving mechanism (17,18), provided between the furnace coiler (9, 10) and Steckel rolling frame (8). The aim of the invention is to crop particularly thin, hot strips. To achieve this, the strip is cropped during the reversible rolling process by a single pair of flying cropping shears (20), positioned between one of the driving mechanisms (17) and the Steckel rolling frame (8). The cropping shears comprise in particular a drum blade.

  • Patent number: 7089771
Abstract: In a method and a strip treatment installation, in particular a strip rolling mill train or a strip rolling stand, to avoid strip stickers, as the material is being wound up the distribution of the radial pressure exerted by the strip on the coiler drum or a winding reel is measured over the strip width, then the measured values are used to produce a reproduction of the actual local stress distribution in the strip, and this reproduction is used as a template for a set curve for controlling the strip tensile stress distribution, on the basis of which actuators of the strip treatment installation are adjusted with a view to achieving a uniform compressive stress distribution.

  • Patent number: 7059161
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for measuring and influencing the strip flatness in the coiler shaft of a hot-strip mill, whereby the coiler shaft has, between a driver and a coiler, moving and stationary strip guides as well as a flatness measuring roll (13). The hot strip (1) is supplied via the coiler shaft to a coiler, which is provided with a coiler mandrel (5), pressure rolls (6) and with deflecting shells (7), over a roller table (2) and the driving rolls (3, 4) of the driver. The flatness measuring roll (13) is displaced out of a working position, in which the hot strip is guided around the flatness measuring roll (13) while maintaining an approximately constant contact angle ?, and into a lowered position. In addition, a strip guide (14), which can swivel inward and protects the flatness measuring roll (13), is placed inside the coiler shaft.

  • Patent number: 6823579
Abstract: The present invention comprises a portable platform (10) for use in gasket manufacture, comprising a shaft connected to a motor and can receive at least one mandrel, and a surface to receive at least one molding tool, the mandrel being activated by the motor to turn in relation to the platform (10) and to the tool, and to move gasket-forming elements, such as metallic or non-metallic strips, among others, to be processed by the tool. Moreover, as much the mandrel as with the tool are replaceable respectively between mandrels and tools with different characteristics. Thus, the same platform (10) may produce different types of gaskets, and, consequently, speed up and facilitate the gasket replacement process.

  • Patent number: 6604398
Abstract: The installation includes an in-line arrangement of a metal pickler, a reeling arrangement installed on the coiling side of the metal pickler, and a cold-rolling mill. The method includes ones of the following alternative sequences of work steps: (a) the strip leaving the metal pickler bypasses the reeling arrangement and is introduced into the cold-rolling mill for a first reduction pass and rolled out over the course of several deformation passes; or (b) the strip leaving the metal pickler is wound on the reeling arrangement into a coil; after the coil is switched to the uncoiling position, the strip is fed into the cold-rolling mill and rolled out over the course of several deformation passes; or (c) the strip leaving the metal pickler is wound as hot-rolled strip on the reeling arrangement to obtain the finished strip; or (d) pre-pickled, hot-rolled strips are sent to the reeling arrangement and then uncoiled from the uncoiler into the cold-rolling mill and rolled in several deformation passes.

  • Patent number: 6604396
Abstract: A wire condenser element bending method and a wire condenser element bending apparatus bend two wire condenser elements by pressing the wire condenser elements against a bending roller to form two scroll wire condensers simultaneously. Inner edge parts of the wire condenser elements are held by holding devices at diametrically opposite positions on the outer circumference of the bending roller. Pressure rollers press the two wire condenser elements against the bending roller while the bending roller is rotated to form two scroll wire condensers simultaneously.
