Patent number: 9757781Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved metal strips straightener, including an infeed device and a pressure frame. The infeed device has one or more leveling rollers, and the pressure frame has a roller frame. The roller frame has one or more roller blocks to bring a metal strip into a upward full encirclement wrap. Each roller block is attached with a camshaft, where each camshaft is connected to a motorized drive system. Rotation of the camshafts actuates the roller blocks to move the metal strips, applying pressure on the metal strips during the passing through of the roller blocks. A closing cylinder is attached to one end of a roller block, where the closing cylinder has a convex contact surface. Multiple roller blocks are connected to each adjacent roller blocks via their connected closing cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2015Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Inventor: Ching Chung Lai

Patent number: 6082990Abstract: A stent crimping tool for firmly and uniformly crimping a stent onto a balloon catheter. The stent crimping tool is constructed of three orthogonally arranged semi-circular shaped cams rotatably mounted on a common base. Two cams are disposed horizontally side-by-side and one cam is vertically disposed. Rotation of the three cams is synchronized by interacting racks on each cam. A groove is formed into the outer circumference of each cam and the three cams are arranged on the base, which also includes a groove, to collectively form an axial space in which a stent-catheter assembly is inserted. Rotation of the cams draws the uncrimped stent and catheter into the axial space in which the stent is crimped onto the balloon catheter by the compressive forces exerted by the grooves of the cams and the base.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gregg A. Patent number: 5546781Abstract: Process for the production of a toothed rack via cold forming, the rack produced thereby, and an apparatus for practicing the process. The cold formed rack workpiece shows multiple traces of cold forming in the toothing direction. During the production process, the workpiece, in the apparatus, is moved transversely to the axis of the rolling head, relative to the rotatably driven rolling head. Rolls, having forming ribs, are rotatably journalled within the rolling head, along at least one helical line, with the rolls rotating with the rolling head in a planetary manner. Thereby, each roll performs, in quick sequence, single rolling steps that overlap each other in the feed direction of the apparatus slide. Therein, the tooth space form-type forming ring ribs engage the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1994Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Ernst Grob AGInventor: Hans Krapfenbauer

Patent number: 4858457Abstract: A machine for making concrete reinforcing bars, known as rebars, from wire stock having a round cross section. A preform roller station cold works the round cross section of the wire stock into the shape of a polygon. A first form roller station cold works the polygonal cross section into a cross section having a central core and radial fin members extending therefrom. A second form roller station further reduces the diameter of the central core, and further increases the radial extent of the fin members. A third form roller station reduces the core still further, and again increases the radial extent of the fins, imparts shoulder members that provide an anti-longitudinal slip function at preselected intervals along the extent of the rebar, and roughens the rebar.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Inventor: Frank R. Patent number: 4735116Abstract: A rolling mill has a pair of cooperating work rolls with first and second chock pairs associated with each work roll. At least one work roll is rocked in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the work roll during operation of the rolling mill to enhance shear rolling and create regions of irregular thickness in the workpiece. This reduces friction between the work rolls and the workpiece in subsequent rolling thereby permitting greater lateral spread of the workpiece. The rocking may be effected in a generally vertical direction by a pair of cylinders secured to a pair of chocks or may be effected in a generally horizontal direction which may be that of the path of flow of the workpiece through the rolling mill by pairs of cylinders associated with each work roll or may involve rocking in both directions.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1986Date of Patent: April 5, 1988Assignees: United Engineering Rolling Mills, Inc., International Rolling Mill Consultants, Inc.Inventor: Vladimir B. Patent number: 4193282Abstract: A rolling machine for reducing the cross-sectional dimensions of an elongate workpiece, such as a steel billet, has two pairs of alternately operating rolls, each of which is journalled in an individual roll carrier. Each carrier is rotated about a carrier axis which is inclined at an angle of about 45.degree. to the axis of rotation of the roll journalled in the carrier. The carrier axes form the sides of a square around the passline which is normal to the plane in which the carrier axes are located. As the carriers rotate the two pairs of rolls alternately sweep over the workpiece and intermittently contact and reduce the workpiece in directions which are mutually at right angles. To avoid the formation of sharp edges to the rolled workpiece, either each roll is collared to enclose a workpiece edge, or each carrier additionally carries an edger roll which rounds that edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: Hill Engineering Company LimitedInventor: Alexander I.
