Abstract: Method for thermo-mechanical controlled rolling of metal slabs to plates or strips, in which for two successively rolled slabs the time gap between the starts of their rolling phases 1 is always smaller than the sum of the duration of all rolling phases and all cooling phases of the rolling pattern, and in which during rolling the batch it occurs on at least one rolling mill stand several times that a rolling phase applied to one slab or plate or strip is succeeded by a different rolling phase applied on another slab or plate or strip. In the apparatus for thermo-mechanical rolling according to that method the number of storage positions is half the interleave depth of the performed rolling pattern rounded up to an integer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cold-rolling strips consisting of, inter alia, special steels and/or nonferrous metals, in a multi-stand tandem rolling mill. The first stand(s) carry out comparatively high reductions and the last stand(s) determine the surface quality of the strip, with a relatively low reduction. The aim of the invention is to improve the capacity of the tandem rolling mill in terms of thickness reduction and in terms of the surface quality of the rolled strips. To this end, an emulsion is used as a coolant and lubricant for the first passages of the strip through the tandem rolling mill with relatively high reduction. The adhesive coolant and lubricant film is then squeezed off the strip following removal from the roll gap of the last emulsion-operated stand. Rolling oil is used as a lubricant for especially the last passage(s) through the tandem rolling mill with relatively low reduction. The invention also relates to an installation for carrying out the inventive method.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a production method for a hot rolled strip in a hot rolling line. An object of the present invention is to ensure stable running of a hot rolled strip on a hot runout table, and to prevent excessive displacement of the hot rolled strip above a pass line, and, for example, a head folding defect and a tail folding defect resulting from the displacement. In the method of the present invention, a fluid jet is squirted above a hot rolled strip conveyed by a hot runout table so as to pass over the hot rolled strip running without touching a surface of the hot rolled strip running on a pass line (a strip-conveying surface of the hot runout table). A strip portion displaced upward from the pass line beyond a predetermined level collides with the fluid jet, and the displacement of the strip portion is thereby corrected.

The drum surfaces are interrupted by second channels, with the first and second channels and the drum axes being arranged in a parallel relationship. Successive product lengths are alternately delivered longitudinally into one and then the other of the first channels.

The strip is subjected to pressurized gas by the ends of the partition facing the strip at a right angle to the strip surface from above and below. Across the strip width a cushion of a compressed gas is generated and seals a gap between the ends of the partition facing the strip and the upper and lower strip surfaces. The compressed gas is guided away above and below the strip parallel to the strip surface as a split flow toward the rolling mill or the damp area and as a split flow in the opposite direction toward the dry area.
