Abstract: A pipe joint is connected with a connecting pipe, and includes a pipe joint body and a nut member. When the connecting pipe formed with a bead expanded in the radial direction is connected with this pipe joint, a male thread of the pipe joint body is engaged with a female thread of the nut member to hold the bead between a tapered face and a tapered face. In addition, the joined portion between the bead and the tapered face forms a first sealed portion, and a joined portion between the bead and the tapered face forms a second sealed portion. Still further, a tapered face of the pipe joint body is joined with the tapered face of the nut member to form a third sealed portion.

  • Publication number: 20140353990
Abstract: An end of a stay material made of a tubular aluminum alloy extruded material is expanded by electromagnetic molding to form a flange for producing a bumper stay. The flange width is increased without cracking and a decrease in the thickness. A stay material having a circumferential wall undulating in a waveform pattern is used. A circumferential length L (one round length along waveform pattern) of the outer periphery wall along the circumferential direction of the stay material is longer than a circumferential length L0 of a simple cylindrical circumferential wall having the same outer diameter (circumscribed circle) (L>L0). L?L0 is an excessive line length. Since the circumferential wall has the excessive line length, when the end of the circumferential wall is expanded to form the flange, the flange having a large diameter can be formed.

  • Patent number: 8683843
Abstract: A spinning method for forming pipe bodies of varying diameter. In the spinning method, when a necked portion is formed at the end of the pipe material by the spinning method, working rollers are restricted so as to return immediately before the pipe end instead of being allowed to axially move beyond the end of the working object pipe. The amount of diameter reduction at the pipe end is set to be smaller than that of the most diameter reduced portion connecting to the pipe end. A protruding portion of a so-called bellmouth shape is formed at the working end, thereby preventing generation of fractures originating at the working end of the base portion or the welded portion and generation of wrinkles during the spinning process.

One or several recesses (18a, 18b) are made in the region of the later open butt joint (12) on one or two of the longitudinal edges (16) of the strip section.

  • Patent number: 7096565
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making an inner conductor from a conductive body integrally forms a flange on one end of the conductive body. The flange is formed integral to the conductive body by flaring the end of the conductive body. The size and shape of the flange is selected to achieve a desired capacitance surface area for use in a resonator. A resonator housing that has a plurality of cavities can be provided with a plurality of conductive bodies that are inserted into holes located in a bottom wall of the resonator body and that protrude into the plurality of cavities. The resonator housing and conductive bodies are placed onto a flanging fixture to produce a flange on each conductive body of a desired size and shape to achieve a desired capacitance surface area. The plurality of conductive bodies can be simultaneously flanged and fastened to the base of the resonator housing.

Abstract: A tool for flanging coated brake pipes has a basic body with a receiving groove and a clamping jaw with a clamping groove. The receiving groove and the clamping groove form a clamping channel, in which the brake pipe can be received snugly. To achieve the snug hold of the brake pipe without unacceptable deformations as well as the coaxial alignment of this brake pipe in relation to a pressure piece of the basic body, by which the flanged head is formed, different surfaces of the receiving groove and of the clamping groove are provided. Thus, the surfaces may be provided with a surface roughness with an arithmetic average peak-to-valley height Ra of 5.0 to 10.0.

Abstract: A tool for forming flares in, for example, corrugated elliptical tubing. The tool may have a retaining portion having a longitudinal axis located between an impact surface and a die head. The die head is coupled to the retaining portion on a first side, and on a second side the die head has a guide plug extending from an inner area of a flare surface normal to the longitudinal axis; and a bottoming surface extending from a periphery of the flare surface. The bottoming surface is oriented at an angle to the flare surface. A saw guide may be used to obtain an appropriate extension of the tube from a stop which the flare is formed against.

  • Patent number: 6931906
Abstract: A cold forging process and apparatus for reinforcing an end of a rectangular tube, including a close fitting, rectangular upper mandrel that inserts into the tubing. The upper mandrel has flared corners at the end attached to the upper die. As the upper die is moved under pressure towards the lower die, the flared corners of the mandrel makes contact with the inner surface of the tube. This ensures that the tube begins to deform outward before the rest of the upper die contacts it. As the upper die is pressed towards contact with the lower die, the end of the tube is cold formed into a collar. The dies are then moved apart and the cold-formed tube removed. A lower mandrel positions and retains the tube during forming. After forming the lower mandrel is used to eject the formed part, which may for instance be a trailer hitch housing.
