The end forming machine includes a hydraulic pump that is operated only when a demand from the system for oil pressure/flow is present. This is accomplished by providing a synchronous servo motor and servo drive coupled to a fixed displacement hydraulic pump. The oil pressure of the system is monitored to detect when the pressure drops below a preset value to provide closed-loop control of the servo motor.     Abstract: A method of manufacturing a push rod from a length of tube having a first end and a second end. The tube is held in a first fixture and a first tool is brought into engagement with the first end while a force is applied to deform the first end into a cone. A disc is thereafter affixed to the cone through a welding process. The tube with the disc attached is moved to a second fixture and a threaded shaft is partially inserted into the tube adjacent the second end. A radial force is applied to the tube that causes the tube to be compressed into engagement with the threaded shaft. The threaded shaft is then rotated causing its translation within the tube to establish a desired length between a face on the disc and a head on the threaded shaft to complete the manufacture of the push rod.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a one-piece flexible tube connector includes obtaining a tube blank having an initial length, an initial outer diameter, and an initial wall thickness. The tube blank is secured in a fixture and fed longitudinally into a forming tool. During the forming process, one of the tube blank and the forming tool is spun increasing an initial wall thickness of a portion of the tube blank to a second wall thickness, while the initial outer diameter of the tube blank is controlled. The thickened portion of the tube blank extends along a second length of the tube blank that is less than the initial length. After the spinning process, an attachment feature, such as a barbed feature, is formed or machined into the thickened portion of the tube blank to produce the one-piece flexible tube connector.

    Abstract: A process for cold forging a metal fastener such as a self-clinching standoff includes a punch and die set at the final head trimming station which produces the shear burr only on the underside of the fastener head where it is not visible after installation. A knock-out pin which is reciprocal within the bore of the punch forcibly ejects the fastener through a passage in the die to a point beyond an opposite side of the die. A stripper sleeve which is reciprocal about the outside surface of the punch then moves from a retracted position over the end of the punch pushing a residual scrap ring from around the outside of the punch.

    Abstract: A manually operated tool for deburring cut ends of metallic electrical tubing (EMT) and/or copper water service tubing comprising a cutting head having a pilot cylinder to fit inside the end of the tube, and a single cutting blade contoured to scrape burrs simultaneously off the inside and outside of the tube end. The cutting head is rotatably driven by a ratcheting handle having a large diameter grip radially adjustable to be positioned as pistol grip style. The deburring tool is capable of working tube ends in close quarters. The large pistol grip and ratchet action combine to operate with a reduced amount of repeated motion and do not require the tight grip of a screw driver type handle. The tool is light weight and portable in contrast to prior art deburring tools requiring a drill motor for power. The pistol grip encourages the use of the larger muscles of the arm instead of the hand and wrist to provide the rotating power.
