Including Screw-actuated Tool Support Patents (Class 72/454)
  • Patent number: 4850215
Abstract: A screw press has a friction clutch for coupling the driving flywheel to the press spindle. The clutch is engaged by a hydraulic piston. To maintain a constant piston stroke as the friction clutch wears, a metering piston and cylinder are interposed between the clutch operating piston and the pressure fluid supply to trap pressure fluid in the clutch operating cylinder and to top it up as required, so that the operating piston stroke corresponds essentially to the fixed stroke of the metering piston. Fluid flow to the operating cylinder bypassing the metering piston is controlled by a normally closed valve arranged to be opened positively in dependence on the position of the metering piston, as the metering piston approaches the end of its stroke in the direction for pressurizing the clutch operating piston to engage the clutch. This arrangement ensures that the clutch cannot be inadvertently locked in an engaged condition.

The second die is moveable along a track formed on the central web defining a straight path toward the first die. A screw urges the moveable die along the track to engage the first die and perform the crimping operation.

  • Patent number: 4191044
Abstract: A press featuring double-ended pressing action upon the blank, made use of in pressforging practice. The frame of the proposed press mounts the slides carrying the female die halves and those carrying the male dies, both of said groups of slides reciprocating towards each other. The slides carrying the male dies are actuated from the hydraulic power cylinders linked with their movable members to the slides through lead screws which in turn interact through their threading with the fly-wheels rotatably mounted on the frame. The essence of the invention resides in that the lead screws with their one end are movable associated with the male-die carrying slides and with the other end they are locked-in with the movable members of the hydraulic power cylinders actuating said screws, while the flywheels are interconnected through a mechanical gearing.

  • Patent number: 4181003
Abstract: A drive of a hydraulic screw press comprises a power cylinder incorporating a movable member connected with the press slide. A limit switch actuated by the downward travel of the slide opens a shutoff valve which permits fluid to flow through an adjustable flow-restrictor to actuate the piston of a pneudraulic cylinder within a preset time period determined by the adjustment of the flow restrictor. At the end of the preset time period, the rod of the piston will have traveled a distance sufficient to actuate a limit switch to control a valve arrangement for discharging the pressure in communication with the power cylinder. The slide is returned to the initial upper position by a cylinder under a constant pressure.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for straightening combine rasp bars mounted on a rasp bar wheel. The device includes a bar having at one end a surface designed to engage the rasp bar axle. The other end of the bar is telescopingly received in a sleeve having located therein a bolt for adjustably positioning the bar within the sleeve. Attached to the outside of the sleeve is a wedge which serves to engage the inner side of the rasp bar so that the rasp bar may be bent outward to its original position by use of the positioner between the bar and the sleeve. Attached outwardly of the engaging wedge on the sleeve is an underslung receiving pocket which receives a crossbar having at either end bolts which may be used to force the rasp bar inward.

  • Patent number: 4069700
Abstract: A screw press wherein slides carrying stamping tools are arranged on the frame coaxially with one another for reciprocation in opposite directions and connected to nuts cooperating with motion screws mounted on the frame, provided with flywheels and having right-hand and left-hand threads. A stamping die is arranged on the frame between the slides in such a manner that the splitting plane thereof is aligned with the stamping axis, one die is fixed to the frame and the other die is secured to a slide which is mounted in guides extending in the frame perpendicularly to the stamping axis, and there is provided a mechanism for clamping the dies during stamping. The motion screws are mounted in the frame for axial reciprocation during stamping. The press according to the invention is preferably used for stamping blanks of parts having asymmetrical distribution of metal mass lengthwise of the blank, such as turbine blades, compressor vanes and the like.

The mechanism for moving the die plate and pressing the die against the explosion chamber is formed by a kinematic screw-and-nut pair. The progressively moving element of said pair is rigidly connected to the die plate, whereas the rotatable element of said pair is kinematically linked with a drive for moving said die plate. The rotatable element is also linked kinematically with an independent drive for pressing the die against the explosion chamber when the die plate drive is disconnected.
