The purchase and viewing are all done within a single application. The purchase feature may be enabled only for a master profile in the computer game system so that other users such as children cannot purchase products through the computer game application.

Abstract: Police officers and others carry multiple electronic devices with the ability to communicate between each other and with remote devices. Unintentional communications may occur between the devices carried by other police officers, for example, which may cause a device carried by one officer to be controlled by a device carried by a different officer. A method of dynamic pairing between electronic devices, based on the time and proximity of the devices, reduces the possibility for unintentional communications.

A system for implementation of the method and an apparatus can be utilized in embodiments of the method and the system.

The method includes one or more processors identifying a user within streaming data of a video communication. The method further includes identifying a non-verbal cue by the user included in the streaming data of the video communication. The method further includes determining whether the identified non-verbal cue corresponds to an excluded category of actions for the video communication. The method further includes in response to determining that the identified non-verbal cue corresponds to an excluded category of actions for the video communication, masking the identified non-verbal cue by overlaying a substitute representation of the user over the user in the streaming data of the video communication.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that provides content recommendations based on recent activity. For example, the media guidance application determines that the user has stopped using the first device and is using the second device. In response, the media guidance application retrieves, from memory, a length of time that the user has consumed media on the first device. The media guidance application then determines the time interval when the user was consuming media on the first device. Next, media content is determined that the user consumed on the first device during the time interval. The media guidance application then determines a characteristic of the consumed media content and recommends media content on a second device based on the characteristic.

The method includes receiving fingerprint media content from a content provider to obtain a first set of fingerprints, the first set of fingerprints including a first subset of fingerprints in a first fingerprint layout and a second subset of fingerprints in a second fingerprint layout. The method can include receiving a second set of fingerprints for media content displayed on the electronic device, the second set of fingerprints comprising a third subset of fingerprints in the first fingerprint layout and a fourth subset of fingerprints in the second fingerprint layout. The method can include matching a first fingerprint in the first subset of fingerprints to a second fingerprint in the third subset of fingerprints or a third fingerprint in the second subset of fingerprints to a fourth fingerprint in the fourth subset of fingerprints in order to identify the media content.

Abstract: In one illustrative example, TV usage data associated with a residential set-top box (STB) are obtained and stored over a plurality of repeated (e.g. weekly) time periods. TV usage pattern data associated with the residential STB are derived based on the stored TV usage data. A suspected illegitimate use of the residential STB is identified based on identifying a match or correlation between the TV usage pattern data and one of a plurality of predetermined commercial TV usage patterns. Further, for each listing data of one or more published listings of business hours, types, and themes associated with one or more commercial establishments, a comparison or correlation is performed between the TV usage pattern data and the listing data. A commercial establishment associated with illegitimate use is identified based on identifying a match or correlation between the TV usage pattern data and the listing data associated with the commercial establishment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a first user with recommendations of media assets for inclusion in a playlist for a second user based on the second user's viewing activity. These systems and methods receive, from the second user, an expression of disinterest in a media asset included in the playlist for the second user, update a user profile associated with the second user based on the expression of disinterest, and determine a recommendation for another media asset based on the updated user profile associated with the second user. The systems and methods provide the recommendation to the first user. By recommending media assets that the second user is least likely to object to, these systems and methods reduce the frequency of disruptive requests for media assets from the second user.

The processor(s) consolidates the viewing preferences of the identified individuals to generate a set of guidelines for displaying content in the designated area. The processor(s) analyzes video media for display on the monitor to locate content in the categories. The processor(s) applies the set of guidelines to the content and determines that a portion of the content should be obscured when the video media is displayed on the monitor. The processor(s) displays the video media on the monitor, obscuring the portion of the content.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and use-cases of multi-modal authentications and content distribution are presented. A content consumer can capture a multi-modal digital representation of multiple objects where a juxtaposition of features derived from the digital representation can be used to recognize that at least some of the objects are a valid authentication object. Upon authentication, an authentication agent determines a content access level for content associated with the corresponding to the juxtaposition. The content can then be presented on an electronic device, possibly within a secure virtual machine, according to the content access level.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a system and methods for generating geographical models, determining geographical locations of set-top boxes using the geographical models, and modifying behavior of the set-top boxes based on their geographical locations. The set-top boxes determine their own geographical locations, regardless of whether the set-top boxes are capable of transmitting data to a content provider or include specialized equipment, such as a global positioning system, for determining geographical location.

Abstract: According to one implementation, a media content annotation system includes a computing platform including a hardware processor and a system memory storing a model-driven annotation software code. The hardware processor executes the model-driven annotation software code to receive media content for annotation, identify a data model corresponding to the media content, and determine a workflow for annotating the media content based on the data model, the workflow including multiple tasks. The hardware processor further executes the model-driven annotation software code to identify one or more annotation contributors for performing the tasks included in the workflow, distribute the tasks to the one or more annotation contributors, receive inputs from the one or more contributors responsive to at least some of the tasks, and generate an annotation for the media content based on the inputs.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing hardware based security to software applications in a television receiver. The system can include a television receiver having a trusted hardware environment that includes a security processor and a standard environment that includes an application processor. The security processor can ensure that at least a portion of the software application executed by the application processor is secure. A portion of the software application code can be placed in an interrupt service routine memory space. During execution of the software application, the security processor can security check the portion of the software application in the interrupt service routine memory space, making it trusted code. The security processor can force the application processor to execute the trusted code by triggering an interrupt. Such forced execution can allow the security processor to not only ensure that code is trusted, but that it is executed.
