  • Patent number: 5190503
Abstract: Weight and complexity concerns in geared rotary actuators and stop mechanisms for aircraft or the like may be minimized in the structure including a housing (18) adapted to be fixed to another structure, a rotatable input shaft (14) journalled by the housing (18), an output shaft (22, 28) journalled by the housing and a coupling between the input shaft (14) and the output shaft (22, 28) including at least one rotatable gear (42). The system includes a mechanical sensor (66) for sensing when the gear (42) has rotated close to an overtravel position and a first stop element (82) is associated with the input shaft (14) to be rotatable therewith. A second stop element (80) is movable into interfering relation with the first stop element (82) to stop rotation thereof and is carried by a gear part (19). Also included is an actuator (60, 62, 68, 70, 72) responsive to the sensor (66) for moving the second stop element (80).

  • Patent number: 5151564
Abstract: An operating mechanism for the operation of a circuit breaker by movement of a toggle handle in a vertical plane and a switch handle movable in a horizontal plane, and comprising a housing, a shaft, a toggle handle and a gear plate mounted on the shaft, and a pivot plate. The pivot plate has slots arranged in an arcuate path, a butterfly cut-out section which receives and engages the switch handle of the circuit breaker, and an arcuate opening and pin arrangement for guiding the pivot plate in its pivotal movement. The gear plate has a flat portion and an arcuate portion with gear teeth. These gear teeth on the gear plate enter the slots in the pivot plate to rotate the pivot plate for operation of the switch handle. Rotation of the pivot plate is generated by movement of the toggle handle in a vertical plane.

  • Patent number: 5074325
Abstract: A steam turbine control valve actuator for lever-operated control valves includes a servomechanical actuator with a reciprocable rod. Such servomechanical actuator is mounted upon a support assembly that is, in turn, pivotably mounted to the control valve body. A distal end of the rod is coupled by a knuckle joint to one end of the lever which operates the control valve, and forces of the rod are biased by a spring that substantially eliminates side forces on the rod through maintenance of the effort that is applied to the lever by the rod in a direction that is parallel to the rod.

  • Patent number: 5069077
Abstract: An actuating mechanism for a vacuum-type interrupter with a contact spring. The actuating mechanism of a vacuum-type interrupter has a pivotally positioned two-armed lever and a spring which holds the contact force ready and which engages with the lever. The two-armed lever is guided with limited displacement in a bearing in a direction which runs approximately parallel to the actuation direction of the interrupter. While enabling, the two-armed lever pivots about a bearing bolt around the end of the bolt guiding until the contact elements engage each other. The further pivoting of the lever takes place around a linkage assembly between the two-armed lever and the actuating impact rod. The two-armed lever can be formed from two parallel split levers with a clearance such that the spring can engage between the split levers. The actuating mechanism is suitable for one or multiple vacuum circuit breakers, e.g., for use in gas insulated switchgear.
