  • Patent number: 6617811
Abstract: A protective device for an electric steering system of a motor vehicle having a control, an electric motor, a control circuit and a gear mechanism. The electric motor is connected to a brake circuit which applies an electrical load to the motor if the rotational speed exceeds a predefined value.

  • Patent number: 5924950
Abstract: A transmission for transmitting power from an input shaft to a driving wheel and changing rotating speed ratios is disclosed. The transmission comprises a drive shaft, a set of drive gears, a driven shaft, a set of driven gears, one counter gear, one return gear including a hub, a planetary gear and sprocket assembly, and a braking mechanism which alternates the operation of the planetary gear. By alternately engaging the different drive gears, the transmission enables the change of an input rotating speed and by stopping the ring gear in the planetary assembly it further multiplies the change of the input rotating speed. Within a very compact and user-friendly design, the transmission provides a fill range of speeds and enables smooth power flow resulting in the decrease of power loss in pedal propelled vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5732595
Abstract: A slidable transmission shaft for a manual transmission includes a plurality of closely-spaced splines at a second end, a first plurality of keys at a first end, which are slidably engagable to an impeller fastened to the crankshaft of a motor vehicle for high gear, and a second plurality of keys spaced from the first plurality of keys and which are slidably engagable to a clutch for low gear. This slidable transmission shaft can also achieve reverse by sliding into a position where neither of the plurality of keys are engaged.

  • Patent number: 5542309
Abstract: This gearbox whose arrangement is derived from that of motorcycle gearboxes, comprises organs according to the invention enabling it to be adapted, in particular for a motor vehicle. The selector shaft (10) which ensures the ratio shift by means of forks (29, 30, 31) may be decoupled from the latter thanks to a decoupling shaft (11) which disengages the counter-cams forming one piece with the forks from their respective cams provided on the selector shaft (10).One can thus select any ratio shift without having to shift through the intermediate ratios.

  • Patent number: 4635495
Abstract: A multi-speed power transmission utilizing ten gears, seven clutches and four shafts provides eight forward speeds and four reverse speeds. The transmission is coaxial in that the input and the output shafts are on the same centerline. The transmission requires only a minimum number of gears, clutches and shafts for the large number of gear ratios provided, and at the same time it is relatively compact and has only three shaft centers. In this transmission there are always three clutches applied in any speed range. Of the seven shifts between forward speed ranges, four of them require the engagement of one different clutch only, two of them require two different clutches to engage simultaneously, and one shift requires engaging three different clutches. The clutches are of the type having multiple friction plates, and hydraulically applied force pistons which are spring load returned. The clutches include appropriate ball dump valves in the force pistons.

  • Patent number: 4267741
Abstract: A gearbox for motor vehicles having an input shaft with an input gear; a countershaft with a drive gear for the countershaft, said driving gear engaging the input gear; a transmission main shaft with a number of gears depending on the number of gear ratios, each of said gears being in driving engagement with an individual gear on the countershaft; a reverse shaft with a driving gear for said reverse shaft and engaging a gear on the countershaft; as well as a reverse gear engaging a gear on the main shaft. The gears on the main shaft and associated gears on the countershaft and reverse shaft can be selectively engaged to establish various driving connections between the input shaft and the transmission main shaft. At least one additional gear, disengagably journalled on the reverse shaft, engages a gear disengagably journalled on the countershaft. One of the other gears on the countershaft engages the main shaft gear which engages the reverse gear and is disengagably journalled on the countershaft.
