Parallel To Shaft Patents (Class 74/424.92)
  • Patent number: 7004045
Abstract: A high thrust operator for gate valves employs an inverted satellite roller screw assembly driven by an internally threaded cylinder carried within a bearing case. The cylinder is sized to provide a relief plenum within the case into which the roller screw assembly can be over extended to expose tool engagement flats for attachment and release of a mating stem in the valve gate actuator.

  • Patent number: 7000495
Abstract: Actuator device comprising a support (2); a longitudinal drive rod (8), part of the rear end (9) of which is mounted and rotates inside the support, and of which a front end section (17) has an external screw thread (18) and on its annular section, gear teeth (19); a longitudinal sheath (39) positioned around and coaxially to the drive rod has an internal screw thread; a series of rollers (28) positioned longitudinally between the drive rod and the sheath and having an external screw thread engaged with the external screw thread of the drive rod and with the internal screw thread of the sheath, and gear teeth engaged with the gear teeth of the drive rod. The helix angle of the screw thread of the rollers is equal to the screw thread helix angle of the screw thread of the drive rod, and different from the helix angle of the screw thread of the sheath.

  • Patent number: 6925901
Abstract: A device for converting rotational movement into axial movement includes planetary rollers driven by a drive shaft projecting from a drive device and maintained peripherally at a same distance, in addition to a push body axially displaced by the planetary rollers. These planetary rollers are peripherally fixed on a support which is driven around the axis thereof, the rollers being rotationally mounted and provided with peripheral grooves or threaded grooves; the support is connected in a fixed manner to the drive shaft rotating around its axis; the planetary rollers engage in at least one thread-like groove of the push body that is displaced along the axis of the support by means of their peripheral grooves or threaded grooves.

  • Publication number: 20040244520
Abstract: A higher efficiency roller screw system that includes a nut body designed to engage a threaded shaft. The nut body includes a center bore with closed, partial helical grooves formed therein. Disposed inside the center bore is a shaft with open helical threads formed thereon. A plurality of rollers with non-helical grooves formed thereon are also disposed inside the nut body's center bore and longitudinally aligned with the shaft. The grooves on each roller are designed to engage the grooves on the nut body and the threads on the shaft. The nut body includes a cross-over region where the trajectory of the internal grooves extend radially outward and axially. When the rollers' grooves contact the grooves in the cross-over region, the rollers are forced outward to maintain contact with the grooves on the nut body and are deflected axially. When they move outward, they disengage from the helical threads on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6648568
Abstract: A linear blind broaching machine (10) includes a base (22), a broaching ram assembly (24), a linear tool slide (26) supported on the base by linear antifriction bearings (90) and a support block (92) mounted between the base and the linear tool slide below a broaching ram of the broaching ram assembly to provide support to the linear tool slide during blind broaching. The linear tool slide has an elongated construction including an elongated positioning block (114) against which blind broaches are laterally positioned, and an electric servomotor (108) drives the linear tool slide (26) to provide indexing thereof between broaching movements of the broaching ram. A roller screw drive (54) driven by an electric servomotor (56) drives a broaching ram (44) supported by linear antifriction bearings 46.

  • Patent number: 6585227
Abstract: An actuator for use with a subsea choke or similar apparatus is disclosed. The actuator uses a planetary roller screw mechanism to allow greater control of the torque output while allowing a fast closing of the choke when well conditions require so. A handle is positioned on one end of the actuator housing for manipulation of the actuator housing by a remotely operated vehicle, when required. A pressure responsive axially reciprocable piston is positioned around the driven shaft and controls movement thereof. Other embodiments show the actuator controlling the position of the cage in a cage type choke. A final embodiment shows the actuator configured for use on a subsea tree.
