Hand Crank Patents (Class 74/545)
  • Patent number: 5775175
Abstract: A hand crank device and associated method for winding winches such as those used on flat bed tractor trailers. The hand crank device includes an elongated pin element that is sized to engage the drive shaft of a winch. The pin element is long enough to enter through one hole on the drive shaft, extend across the drive shaft and exit the drive shaft through a second hole on the opposite side. The pin element is affixed to the short arm section of an L-shaped bracket. A handle is affixed to the long arm section of the L-shaped bracket, thereby enabling a torque to be applied to the L-shaped bracket and the pin element affixed to the L-shaped bracket. The torque acting on the pin element is transferred to the drive shaft of the winch, thereby causing the drive shaft to turn and the winch to rewind.

  • Patent number: 5732602
Abstract: A handle has an inner hub member which engages a shaft and rotates about a longitudinal axis therewith, an outer hub member which is disposed around the inner hub member and is coaxial therewith, and resilient material disposed in a space between the inner and outer hub members. The resilient material effects the transfer of rotational movement between the inner and outer hub members, and under normal operating conditions, the outer hub member is generally coaxial with the inner hub member and rotates in a tangential direction to effect the rotation of the inner hub member and the shaft. Thus, upon the rotation or movement of the outer hub member in a direction other than the tangential direction which results in the outer hub member extending along an axis angled to the longitudinal axis of the inner hub member, the inner hub member maintains its direction along the longitudinal axis by virtue of the resilient material disposed between the inner and outer hub members.

  • Patent number: 5683050
Abstract: A handle of a fishing reel in which, even if a fishline is twined around a handle knob, the fishline can be removed easily there from. The handle knob also can be held easily outside thereof with the fingertips. In the handle of the fishing reel, a handle knob is rotatably mounted on the end portion of a handle arm. The shape of each of the hold surfaces of the handle knob to be held with the thumb and forefinger during a fishline winding operation is formed such that it is tapered from the base portion side of the handle arm toward the outer end portion side thereof. Accordingly, when the fishline is twined around the handle knob, the fishline can be removed from the twined state thereof. Also, the handle knob can be grasped easily from a position outward of the knob with the angler's fingertips.

Abstract: A handle assembly is adapted for installation in a vehicle panel aperture having a flanged border from the outboard side of the panel. The handle housing has a pre-installed attaching clip retained on the housing by a screw tightened to an initial setting enabling predetermined upward and inward travel of the clip between a lower gravity induced position to an installation rocked-in induced upper position. The clip has tapered flanges configured to bear on the aperture border during rocked-in movement of the housing along a determined swingline. Upon clip tabs being positioned inboard of the border the tapered flanges disengaging the border thereby returning the clip by gravity to its installed position such that tightening the screw clamps the tabs against the aperture border.

Abstract: An articulated fishing reel handle assembly for attachment to a fishing reel. The fishing reel handle assembly generally comprises an elongate crank arm having a first end rigidly connected to the fishing reel in a manner wherein the crank arm extends along a first axis disposed at approximately a 90-degree angle relative to an axis extending through the fishing reel. Rotatably connected to the second end of the crank arm is a bearing member which extends along a third axis disposed at approximately a 90-degree angle relative the first axis and substantially parallel to the second axis. A reel handle is rigidly connected to the distal end of the bearing member in a manner wherein the reel handle extends along a fourth axis which is angularly offset approximately 72 degrees from the third axis. The reel handle is connected to the bearing member such that the reel handle has a greater length below the third axis than above the third axis and is preferably formed of self-skinning polyurethane.

  • Patent number: 5328122
Abstract: A small diameter part (2a) of a support shaft (2) is inserted or pressure-inserted into a through hole (1a) of a handle arm (1) and fixed by caulking so that the support shaft (2) protrudes on the side face of the handle arm (1). A hollow shaft part (3) is rotatably fitted to an outer periphery of a shaft part (2b) of the support shaft (2) through a washer (10). The hollow shaft part (3) is prevented from falling off from the support shaft (2) by an E-ring (12) fitted to the other side of the support shaft (2) through a washer (11). Since the hollow shaft part (3) is arranged to be detachably supported onto the support shaft (2), the frictional resistance in rotation between the support shaft (2) and the hollow shaft part (3) can be reduced through maintenance such as washing and lubrication.

An elastomeric body includes a recess frictionally receiving the camera focusing knob, and a knob turning surface defined upon the elastomeric body of a diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the camera focusing knob reduces the effort required for focusing and improves knob access. Reduced wall thickness lips and rims defined on the auxiliary knob facilitate cooperation with the camera focusing knob and improve the knob handling characteristics.

Abstract: A spare tire mount for pickup trucks having a sidewall with an inner surface and an upper ledge which extends inward, turns downward as a flange, and then turns outward as a lip. A support member engages the outward facing lip of the sidewall with a horizontal flange formed to lay atop the lip, a vertical flange formed to lay horizontally adjacent to the lip. A horizontal threaded aperture is formed competely through the support member. An elongated threaded member engages through the threaded aperture of the support member to press against the inner surface of the sidewall when rotated at its outer end, thereby preliminarily propping the spare tire mount between the inner surface and the lip of the sidewall prior to and during the mounting of the spare tire.
