  • Patent number: 5483763
Abstract: A water filled crystal ball with undulating pivot arms is disclosed. The important parts comprise a central rotating shaft, a bushing, undulating pivot arms, and a rotating disk. It is the rotating motion of the central rotating shaft that is the driving force. It is the outer bushing which is the levering force that causes an up and down undulation of the pivot arms inside the glass sphere of the crystal ball. Decorative objects above the fixed disk are moved by a track which is fixed to the top of a rotating disk and move in a level radial back and forth fashion. This produces a scene in which there are multiple directions of motion of decorative objects within a glass sphere.

  • Patent number: 5467706
Abstract: There is disclosed a mechanical pressing machine utilizing a rotation cam, in which an unbalanced inertia force, produced during a reciprocal movement of a slider, is canceled in a slider system without producing a large flexure in the whole of the pressing machine, thereby enhancing a dynamic precision. The slider and a balance weight are mounted respectively on an upper portion and a lower portion of a frame for vertical sliding movement. The slider and the balance weight are connected through links to a pair of sliding blocks which are reciprocally movable in opposite horizontal directions through a rib cam. With this arrangement, the slider and the balance weight are reciprocally moved vertically in opposite directions, respectively, so that an inertia force of the slider is canceled in the slider system.

Each valve is operatively connected to the cam such that each valve is positioned as a function of cam rotation. The cam is rotated about an axis extending substantially perpendicular to the linear path of each valve.

  • Patent number: 4837433
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for providing a predetermined surface scan velocity of the projected field of view of a scanning instrument. The invention is adapted for use in a scanning instrument having scan drive means including an inertial element and detector means coupled to the inertial element for detecting or projecting radiation during a scan. The invention includes cam means mechanically coupled to said inertial element and supported, by a frame, to pivot therewith. The cam means includes a cam having a contour which is varied to provide a specific surface scan velocity profile for the projected field of view. A spring is coupled to the cam via a bearing which translates in response to the contour of the cam as the cam and the inertial element pivot during scan. The spring is attached to the frame to maintain the bearing in contact with the cam. The spring effectively stores energy from and restores energy to the inertial element via the bearing and the cam.

A feed hopper is positioned to feed parts to the area of a downwardly inclined trough which is pivoted at a fixed end and driven at the discharge end with a horizontal reciprocating motion. The combined effect of gravity and horizontal reciprocating motion causes the parts to align in the bottom of the trough and discharge one-by-one at the discharge end of the trough. An adjustable eccentric permits control of the reciprocation.

Abstract: This invention relates to a mechanism and a process by which hydraulic pressure principles may be applied to any reciprocating or rotational means, for instance a piston or a motor, to make the energy output thereof more efficient per unit of energy input into these machines. The unitary hydraulic unit comprises a first larger reservoir cylinder and a second smaller reservoir cylinder which is fluidly connected to the first larger cylinder. Energy is input onto the force receiving surface of the first larger reservoir cylinder and force is hydraulically transferred from the first larger hydraulic cylinder to the force transferring surface of the second smaller hydraulic reservoir. In a preferred embodiment, this two-reservoir system can be applied to any machine with a rotational output by means of a disclosed power conversion means. An efficient power takeoff means for converting reciprocal energy into rotational energy for use in connection wiht the unitary hydraulic unit is also disclosed.
