  • Patent number: 11098791
Abstract: This invention is an all gear continuously variable transmission that is non-dependent on friction. It can me be used in high torque applications. It offers a steady and uniform output for a steady and uniform input. It allows a co-axial input and output thereby by using a planetary gear system the output can be made continuous from forward to reverse. This uses a “scotch-yoke” mechanism to convert rotational motion to a linear reciprocating motion. The linear distance of this reciprocating motion-“stroke” is changed by altering the crankpin location of the scotch-yoke mechanism. This reciprocating motion is converted to a rocking motion by using a “rack and pinion” and later converted to a unidirectional motion via a One-Way-Bearing. A set of non-circular gears are used to achieve a steady and uniform output. It employs a very simple mechanism to change the ratio between the input and output of the transmission.

Abstract: A variable stroke crankshaft assembly includes a drive shaft surrounded by a sleeve. A crankshaft is disposed inside the drive shaft with the longitudinal axis of the crankshaft offset from the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft. A gear projecting outwardly from the crankshaft through a window in a drive shaft engages angled gear teeth on the inner surface of the sleeve allowing sliding movement of the sleeve relative to the drive shaft to rotate the crankshaft. A crankpin is attached to the crankshaft but offset from the rotational axis of the crankshaft. Rotational movement of the crankshaft with respect to the drive shaft thus pivots the crankpin with respect to the rotational axis of the drive shaft creating a crank stroke that may be varied by sliding the sleeve back and forth.

  • Patent number: 5465636
Abstract: A variable length crank arm in a windshield wiper system provides a depressed park position for an associated wiper blade when the direction of rotation of a drive motor is reversed. The crank arm relies on an eccentric driver to vary its length between a first length and a longer second length. When the eccentric driver is rotated in a first direction to wipe the windshield, a spring loaded pin keeps the eccentric driver rotatably fixed to an output arm with the crank arm consequently at the first length. The spring loaded pin also engages a cam slot in a cam plate, the cam plate rotating freely with the output arm and the eccentric driver in the first direction. To move the blade to the depressed park position, the direction of rotation of the drive motor is reversed. This causes the cam plate to become rotatably stopped, with the now stationary cam slot forcing the pin out of engagement with the output arm.

Stroke length is adjusted by changing the eccentricity of the integral crankshaft eccentric portion relative to the eccentric sleeve. The eccentric sleeve is unlocked from the crankshaft and locked to the connection arm during stroke adjustment allowing the crankshaft to rotate relative thereto by utilizing the inching mode of the press.

Abstract: An apparatus for changing the wiping range of a wiper enables the wiping range to be changed easily but without involving the risk of unwanted changes. The motor caused movement of the drive link is converted into a movement of the drive link for causing a reciprocating oscillation of wiper arms by first and second links which are each swingably supported, the second link being swingable realtive to the first link in such a manner that the stop position of the wiper arms can be varied. An auxiliary link provided on the first link is swingable while following the relative swinging of the second link and being integrated therewith, with the swinging radius of the auxiliary link being smaller than the relative swinging radius of the second link.

Abstract: An adjustable timing gear arrangement having an output shaft and a camshaft operable in timed relationship with the output shaft comprises a first rotatable drive member driven by the output shaft with a second rotatable drive member mounted on the camshaft and operably connected with the first drive member for rotation in timed relation therewith. The second drive member is mounted on the camshaft for rotation on a common axis with the second drive member and the camshaft and is secured thereto to fix the angular relationship of the members. The mounting permits limited relative angular rotation of the members when the members are not so secured. For adjusting the relative angular positions of the second drive member and the camshaft there is an assembly including an unthreaded, cylindrical stud extending from the camshaft into a radially extending slotted opening through the second drive member. The opening includes angularly spaced, parallel sides.

Abstract: A crank driving device for a press designed in serial type eccentric structure. An eccentric element of crankshaft connected to a connecting rod, and an eccentric mechanism to provide a second eccentricity, are separated in the axial direction of the crankshaft. The opposite ends of crankshaft are provided, in respective eccentric holes in a pair of rotatable bodies which rotate synchronously on a basic axial line. The crankshaft is axially displaceable between a position in which it rotates in synchronism with the rotatable bodies and a position in which the crankshaft and the pair of rotatable bodies can be rotated relative to each other. The eccentricity of the device is adjusted by rotating crankshaft and pair of rotatable bodies, relative to each other, and then maintaining the relative angle of the crankshaft and the pair of rotatable bodies at constant value by connecting means after adjustment.

Abstract: Rectangular pistons are driven in a circular orbit by two spaced eccentrics on a common crankshaft. The displacement chambers reciprocate with a lateral motion parallel with the crankshaft. The radial forces created by the fluid pressure in the displacement chambers are balanced by a connection to the crankshaft through rotatable and slidable antifriction bearings. During the reciprocating lateral motion of the chambers, port openings located in the outer ends of the chambers are connected alternately to matching intake and exhaust port openings in the adjacent surfaces of the casing to provide a reversible valveless control of the fluid to and from the chambers. The apparatus can be used either as a pump or motor without internal modifications. The pistons are secured together as one piece and follow identical orbital paths. Each pair of opposing displacement chambers are secured as one piece and radially connected to the crankshaft.

Abstract: A machine for rhythmic and reciprocal movement of workpieces and the like in at least two successive steps is described. One step is thus executed. Then the crank pin in question (13) exits a groove (26) and the other crank pin (12) enters its groove (25). It then executes the second step. At the beginning of each step, the velocity of the carriage is zero. In the further course, it rises to a maximum at a crank angle of 90.degree., and drops back to zero at the end of the step. In this way an especially gentle and rapid motion is made possible. The crank pins may each be mounted on its own shaft, or they may be mounted together on a common shaft with an offset of 180.degree..
