Abstract: Electromechanical actuators (EMAs) include an output disposed at a location that is axially central between two EM devices. The EMAs include either one or two motors and an output mechanism. The motors are adapted to be energized and are operable, upon being energized, to either generate torques about a first axis or drive forces along a first axis. The output mechanism is responsive to the torques or forces to translate along a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis.

Abstract: A ratcheting-type, rotor controlled, continuously variable transmission machine wherein the circumferential length of a cross-sectional profile of a body of the rotor is substantially constant, and the maximum positive swivel angle of the body is substantially equal in magnitude to the maximum negative swivel angle of the body.
Abstract: On a high-voltage power switch there is provided a shaft for transmitting a rotary motion through a wall. A deflection lever is disposed on the shaft. The shaft and the deflection lever are part of a kinematic chain. For adjustment of the deflection lever in its position on the shaft, the deflection lever has an adjusting device.
Abstract: A method of providing variable pumping rate from a piston type pump at a constant drive speed, comprising providing a connecting rod connected to the throw of a crankshaft on one end and to a connecting pin on the other end, constraining said connecting pin to move reciprocally generally in a first direction when said crankshaft rotates, a piston connected to said connecting pin which is mounted in a head and moves reciprocally in a second direction, and varying the angle between said first direction and said second direction to vary the volume being pumped by said pump.
Abstract: A four-wheel steering system for an automotive vehicle includes a linkage drivingly connected at its front end to a front wheel steering mechanism, and a connecting mechanism assembled in combination with a rear wheel steering mechanism to drivingly connect the linkage to a pair of operation rods of the rear wheel steering mechanism in such a manner that the operation rods are axially displaced in response to movement of the linkage to steer a pair of dirigible rear road wheels. The connecting mechanism is designed to control the steering angle and direction of the rear road wheels relative to those of a pair of dirigible front road wheels without causing any change in the alignment of the rear road wheels.
Abstract: A cable cutter and stripper uses fixed and moving plates, each having aligned orifices. The moving plate orifices have sharpened edges and are orbited in a plane parallel to the fixed plate to cut through the cable insulation. The radius of orbit is adjustable.
Abstract: A control assembly for varying the transmission ratio between a sewing machine driving shaft eccentric for feed dog transverse movement, and thus the feed and stitch widths, of a sewing machine which includes an oscillating lever mounted for oscillation adjacent to the feed dog and connected to it to move it backwardly and forwardly and an eccentric drive acting on the feed dog to move it upwardly and downwardly. The control assembly includes a push rod having one end connected to the oscillating lever to oscillate it and an opposite end having a pin thereon which is confined for movement in an oblong slot of a link which is articulated at its opposite end to one arm of a double armed lever, the other arm of which is engaged by the driving shaft eccentric to oscillate it. The pin carries a sliding block which is engaged in a sliding block guide and they are both made of a plastic having a sliding surface at their engagement surfaces.
Abstract: A swash plate drive mechanism for an axial piston machine is disclosed comprising a pair of yokes with intersecting longitudinal axes and intersecting cross-axes and a swash plate drivingly connected with the pistons and pivotally connected between the yokes for pivotal movement about their cross-axes whereby the swash plate is caused to oscillate and effect double frequency drive between the piston and yokes and wherein the limits of swash plate oscillation are dependent on the angle between the longitudinal axes of the yokes and are fixed or variable and which in the latter event reach zero on alignment of the longitudinal axes.
Abstract: A mechanism for controlling the velocity of a tool platform in a manner causing the platform to follow a moving product at product speed while machine operations are performed on the product. The mechanism comprises a platform reciprocally driven by a roller chain coupled to a slot in the platform, the orientation of the roller chain being altered to control the velocity and distance of travel of the platform.
Abstract: The device for producing vibratory forces shown in the drawings comprises a pair of plates mounted on a structural frame. There are three rows of gears on each plate which are intermeshed so that all may be driven from a drive input to one of the gears in the central row. Drive means provide the input to the driven gear of each plate through one of the journals for mounting the plates on the frames. Weights are mounted eccentrically on each of the gears and are thus rotated synchronously between extreme outward and inward positions to produce, by centrifugal force, vibratory forces parallel to the planes of the plates. Means, operative through the other journals for pivotal mounting the plates, simultaneously and synchronously pivot the plates between aligned positions wherein the centrifugal forces are nullified and essentially no vibrations are produced and parallel positions wherein the vibratory forces are at maximum.
Abstract: For transferring a rotary drive to a movable member in order that the latter may be reciprocated with a variable amplitude stroke, a mechanism is disclosed which comprises two parallel shafts, each carrying an arm or a disc, a peripheral pin on each disc being pivoted to one end of a connecting rod, the opposite end of which is pivoted to the either end of a rocker. The central pivot of the rocker is borne by a member which is so guided that only a reciprocal motion is permitted thereto.
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable stroke piston machine assembly wherein the stroke is adjustable steplessly from zero to full displacement. Two connecting rods are provided and a pivotal joint between the rods is guided by an arc shape path of a guide member. The guide member is pivotally adjustable to vary the position of the arc shaped path relative to the piston and thereby vary the stroke of the piston.
