Setting Patents (Class 76/58)
  • Patent number: 10315260
Abstract: A system for setting and sharpening teeth of a saw blade includes a frame, a sharpening assembly and a setting assembly. A block affixed to the frame defines at least in part a blade path. The sharpening assembly is configured to sharpen a first tooth of the saw blade in a first position of the blade path. The setting assembly configured to set the first tooth of the saw blade in a second position of the blade path, wherein the blade path is defined through the sharpening assembly and the setting assembly. An advancement assembly is configured to move the saw blade along the blade path in an advancement direction to advance teeth of the saw blade into and out of the first position, and into and out of the second position.

  • Patent number: 7096757
Abstract: Setting device for sawblades, where a saw tooth (10) to be set is bent by contact with a ridge (17) on one among two conical detting rollers (14, 15), while the sawable is squeezed between two cydrical pressure rollers (12, 13) with axes which are parallel to the setting rollers but controllably displaceable, and the rotation of the setting rollers is adapted to the velocity of the sawblade by measuring the passage of the saw teeth past a measuring device and comparing with the angular position of the setting rollers.

Abstract: A method of making a saw blade includes the step of providing a metallic blade body that defines a first side surface and a second side surface. The method further includes the step of providing the metallic material blade body with cutting teeth at an edge thereof. The method also includes the step of forming a plurality of discrete dimples on at least one of the side surfaces. The forming step includes the step of deforming the metallic blade body with pins on a die plate of a punch press so as to create a plurality of indentations in the side surface in which the dimples are formed.

  • Patent number: 5813294
Abstract: An apparatus for setting teeth on a saw blade is disclosed. The apparatus has a control shaft which has setting cams for pivoting a tooth setting block. An indexing arm is caused to pivot by an indexing cam to cause a blade held by the apparatus to move through the apparatus in a timed stepwise fashion. Clamping jaws are movable relative to one another by a cam carried by the shaft to hold the blade during tooth setting and to release the blade for indexing through the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5775179
Abstract: A sawblade machine has its setting members disposed adjacent the sawblade in nonclamping engagement therewith and defining an angle of the setting surfaces in excess of the angle defined between the outer planes of the teeth in the starting position. The setting members are then rotated to the teeth and returned to the starting position whereupon the clamping heads are relieved and the blade advanced.

  • Patent number: 4589306
Abstract: A saw has a plurality of generally V-shaped teeth formed by punching. The sides of each tooth define cutting edges. A bevel extends along each cutting edge. The bevels are formed by punching with a tool having a surface oriented non-perpendicular to the saw blank. Burrs formed during the punching step are not removed, but are allowed to remain to enhance the cutting ability of the teeth.

  • Patent number: 4587869
Abstract: A pair of companion saw blade tooth set dies are provided for guided relative movement toward and away from each other relative to a support structure from which a saw blade may be guidingly supported for predetermined indexed positioning of right and left set teeth thereon relative to the location of the aforementioned companion tooth set dies. The dies, when moved into engagement with the right and left set teeth of the saw blade, are operative to engage and bend the right and the left set teeth back to and past neutral set positions and to the reverse set positions with the previous right and left set teeth comprising left and right set teeth, respectively, and the bend areas of the reverse set teeth being formed in the longitudinal marginal portion of the blade from which the teeth project.

  • Patent number: 4112789
Abstract: A machine for working band saw teeth, the bed of which machine mounts an abrasive wheel for grinding saw teeth and a clamping device for holding the saw on the side and back surfaces thereof, which clamping device mounts a mechanism for effecting reciprocating movement thereof relative to the abrasive wheel, said mechanism being kinematically connected with a machine driving mechanism and a saw pitch-feed mechanism, and at least two tooth tip supporting elements one of which is located before the abrasive wheel, as viewed in the direction of pitch feed, and the other is located thereafter and has at least two shaped surfaces arranged to make contact with the tips of the saw teeth, said other supporting element being mounted on the clamping device so as to be able to be moved relative thereto for the purpose of positioning the shaped surfaces so that the side surfaces of the saw tooth tips make contact therewith during pitch feed, whereby the setting of the tooth tips is performed.

  • Patent number: 4072068
Abstract: A band saw teeth working machine comprises a framework having mounted thereon: a device for clamping a band saw by the side surfaces thereof, having abutments for the apices of the teeth of the band saw and for the back edge thereof, a mechanism for advancing the band saw stepwise in accordance with its pitch and a tool for working the teeth of the saw. The machine includes an auxiliary device for clamping the band saw by the side surfaces thereof, mounted on the stepwise-advancing mechanism, arranged in front of the band saw clamping device in the direction of the advance of the band saw being worked upon, adjacent to this last-mentioned device. The provision of this auxiliary device enables to operate the same machine for setting and notching the teeth of the band saw.
