Abstract: The present invention is an adjustment mechanism for both hand and production tools of any capacity. An eccentric pin mechanism provides the pivot between two handles or other load transferring members. The rotation of the pin moves the two members closer or farther apart, indirectly controlling the final position of the blades or jaws. This adjustment can be used to compensate for wear or to provide adjustment for a specific use. The eccentric pin is locked into position by means of a pressure pin mechanism. For light duty tools, this pressure pin mechanism would consist of a spring loaded pin which resists rotation of the eccentric pin during normal operation of the tool. The spring loaded pin would allow rotation of the eccentric pin when a tool is used to rotate it. For heavy duty applications, the pressure pin mechanism would consist of a solid set screw.
Abstract: Adjustable pliers having a pair of handles, each handle having a jaw portion, an intermediate portion and a hand-grip portion. The handles intersect each other and are pivotally mounted to each other so that movement of the hand-grip portions in one direction will move the jaw portions in the same direction. Holding means in the form of a pin extends from one of the intermediate portions and a slot is in the other intermediate portion. The holding pin extends into the slot and is slidable along the slot. The slot has receiving means in the form of notches which will receive the said holding pin when the jaw portions are placed in a predetermined position and hold them in that position. A locking assembly is also provided on the handle members to lock the two in position.
Abstract: Self-adjusting pliers, consisting of a male handle member and a female handle member with toothed jaws, sliding against each other by means of a pawl which connects them and slides in an elongated racked slot inserted in one of the toothed jaws, both handle members being joined together by a coupling link consisting of two sleeves (1), (2) which move against each other telescopically, one of them (2) pivoting on the male handle member (6) and the other on the female handle member (11); one spring (3) connecting both sleeves (1), (2) and a second spring (5) connecting one (1) of the sleeves with one (11) of the handle members.Suitable for application in the manufacture of hand tools.

The second member has a second handle portion, a second jaw portion and a concave bearing surface portion disposed between the second handle portion and the second jaw portion. The concave bearing surface portion engaging the convex bearing surface portion of the first member to provide a fulcrum point between the first member and the second member. The fulcrum point shifts with relative spacial positioning of the first jaw portion and the second jaw portion.
Abstract: A plier tool which is convertible between a type wherein the jaws spread apart when the handles are squeezed and a type wherein the jaws close when the handles are squeezed. A pair of apertures, one for each type, is provided in one of the plier levers. The pivot assembly is insertable in and removable from each of the apertures for making the conversion.
Abstract: An adjustable angle medical forceps is disclosed which has a rotatable arm to which is attached a jaw element and which provides increased surgical dexterity for suturing with curved or straight needles, for dissecting bodily organs, and for isolating nerves, arteries, and the like. The forceps includes a laser fiber and irrigation and suction catheters for lasing, irrigating, and suctioning.
Abstract: An adjustable jaw pliers wherein the adjustable jaw pliers have a quick release threaded rod positioning portion which engages the threaded rod which has a pliers jaw attached to one end of the threaded rod. The pliers jaw which is attached to the threaded rod can be positioned at any distance from the other pliers jaw of the pliers by disengaging the threaded rod laterally from the quick release threaded rod positioning portion of the pliers. The pliers handle containing the quick release threaded rod positioning portion has a locking device attached to the pivot pin of the pliers. The locking device locks the threaded rod into the quick release threaded rod positioning portion of the pliers. Another aspect of the adjustable jaw pliers has the threaded rod attached to one of the pliers handle portions and a quick release adjustable position pliers jaw is positioned laterally to the threaded rod to and locked into place by a locking device.
Abstract: An arresting member (5) is rotatably mounted about the lengthwise axis of a lever handle (2) of a pair of pliers. The arresting member (5) is directed towards the other lever handle (1) and penetrates with its free end (11) through a slot (12) in this other lever handle (1). The shank (13) of the arresting member (5) is flattened so that the arresting member in one rotational position can axially freely slide in the slot (12). The largest radial extent of the shank (13) slightly exceeds the width of the slot (12) so that the arresting member (5) is clamped in another rotational position in the slot (12). By fabricating the arresting member (5) from a deformable material, the pair of pliers can be operated also with the arresting pin in this rotational position. Upon sliding through the slot (12) the arresting member (5) is thereby deformed.

Abstract: Prior universal pliers with two gripping arms (11, 15) and an adjustable jaw have the disadvantage that during adjustment one must change hands while using the pliers which is unfavourable as regards the economic requirements. This disadvantage is obviated by the present invention in that both gripping arms (11, 15) are non-displaceably articulated on one another and one of the two jaws (19) is displaceably mounted with respect to its associated gripping arm (15) at right angles to the jaw opening.
