  • Patent number: 5592862
Abstract: A screwdriver is described having two double-ended driving bits, each having dimensions of length greater than width and a driving head at either end capable of controlling fastener rotation. The screwdriver also has a handle with dimensions of length greater than width, and width greater than thickness forming a somewhat flat handle that is appropriate for pocket storage and transportation. Extending out from the screwdriver handle is a screwdriver shank that is positioned to the side and off-center relative to the handle width to increase leverage and torque capabilities while maintaining a compact design. One of the two double-ended driving bits is stored within the handle while the other is temporarily held and secured within the screwdriver shank with one head exposed for fastener engagement. • Patent number: 5540623
Abstract: An improved bowler's tape tool includes a curved tool portion with an enlarged handle portion. A knife edge is formed at one end of the curved tool portion. The knife edge is smaller than the curved tool in both radial thickness and circumferential extent. The knife edge can be placed behind the tape in a bowler's thumb hole for removal of the tape. The curved tool is utilized to apply new tape within the thumb hole. The handle facilitates easy gripping and movement of the tool to either apply or remove the tape. In other aspects of this invention, the handle portion extends radially outwardly for a greater distance then the curved tool portion. This ensures that the user is able to properly control the curved tool portion and apply the required forces for application or removal of the tape. Further, the curved tool portion is preferably formed with a radius of curvature that is smaller than the radius of curvature of the thumb hole such that the tool can be easily moved within the thumb hole.

  • Patent number: 4924733
Abstract: A Multiple Bit Screwdriver has a handle with a plurality of bits in a circular array of longitudinal bores within a handle magazine. A rotatable end cap on the handle is provided with a slot for receiving the bit, and the desired bit is selected by rotating the end cap to align the slot with a particular bore. The selected bit is withdrawn from the magazine by inserting a second bit into the bore through the slot in the end cap, thereby forcing the selected bit out of the bore through the opposite end. The bit is retained in working position on the screwdriver shaft by magnetic means. Double-ended bits may be utilized.

  • Patent number: 4846042
Abstract: A tool handle includes an elongated body having a cap thereon rotatable with respect to body to facilitate use by reducing friction to the hand of the user upon rotation of the handle carrying a tool, such as a screwdriver. The cap has a projection or flange adapted to engage in snap fit relationship with a locking recess on the exterior of the body to hold the cap on the body. In another embodiment, the body is hollow and has an internal chamber for receiving tools. The rotatable cap has an opening adapted to be closed by a top that is secured to the cap by a live hinge. In a further embodiment, the cap and body are provided with interengaging means which are cammed apart during relative rotation of the cap with respect to the body to enable release of the cap from the body to permit access to the tool or tools in the internal chamber.

  • Patent number: 4796495
Abstract: The magazine hammer has a hammer head (1) and a hammer shaft (2) running transversely to the latter. A guide channel (3) for guiding nails (4) from a nail magazine (5) runs in the longitudinal direction of the hammer shaft (2). The guide channel (3), in its end facing the hammer head (1), forms a deflection channel (7) for swinging round the nails (4) fed individually in their longitudinal direction. For this purpose, the deflection channel (7), on its lower side or its side remote from the hammer head (1), is provided with a passage slot (11) for the nail shank so that, in this area, a nail (4) fed individually in its longitudinal direction can swing about its nail head as a rotational axis into the desired setting position at the hammer head (1).

  • Patent number: 4790696
Abstract: A tool housing includes first and second coaxial openings on opposite sides of the housing. Wall structure is provided for guiding the key head into the interior of the housing, where the key head is engaged by retaining structure. The second opening has an ejector member mounted therein for movement toward and away from the first opening. When the user of the tool wishes to eject the key from the housing, he pushes on the outer portion of the ejector member, causing the portion of the member innermost to the housing to contact the key head and to disengage and displace it outwardly through the first opening, thereby releasing the key from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4716795
Abstract: A multibit hand tool has a plurality of bits provided in a circular pattern within a handle magazine. A rotatable selector cup at the end of the handle permits selection of a desired bit from the magazine and placement in a chuck in the handle. An elongate slot is provided in the cup to permit the manipulation of the bit. An improved guidance arrangement is provided for guiding movement of a bit withdrawn from the handle magazine for insertion in the chuck. The guide device prevents rotation of the screwdriver bit while being transferred from the magazine to the chuck. An improved arrangement is provided for retaining a bit withdrawn from the handle magazine within the bit selector cup so that bits are not lost. The mounting of the bit selector cup on the handle is improved to facilitate assembly and use of the bit selector cup.

A rotatable selector cup at the end of the handle permits selection of a desired bit from the magazine and placement in a chuck in the handle. An elongate slot is provided in the cup to permit the manipulation of the bit. The improvement in this hand tool arrangement comprises an adaptation to the chuck and bit ends so that the selected bit end is readily placed within the chuck. This feature is accomplished by providing a number of operative faces on the bit end equal to the number of bits provided in the handle. Similarly, the chuck has a bore presenting a corresponding plurality of internal operative faces for engaging the bit end.

  • Patent number: 4653356
Abstract: A multi-purpose hand tool having novel structure which allows it to partially function in the manner of a revolver. It has a ten or twelve chamber cylinder which revolves and holds various sizes of screwdriver, Phillips head drivers, Allen wrenches, sockets, screw starters, etc. The tool has a primary shaft that is journaled within a tubular sleeve and the shaft has a handle mounted on its one end and a male socket head formed on its forward end. The drive shaft may be sequentially driven forward to engage one of the tool heads in one of the chambers of the cylinder with further forward motion causing the tool head to exit the front of the chamber where it can be used to tighten or loosen a fastener. The drive shaft can be operated by hand, hand ratchet, an electric drill with an adapter, or by a battery powered electric motor mounted in the handle housing.
