Having Storage Compartment Patents (Class 81/490)
  • Patent number: 4631770
Abstract: A compact hand-held device adapted for alternative use as a protective weapon, a tool or a key holder is disclosed. A hollow cylindrical member having an open end and a closed end includes a chamber for storing a plurality of tool elements. A removable closure is threadably received in the open end for sealing the chamber of the hollow member. A key ring is secured to the closure for use of the key ring both as a key holder and as a protective weapon. A hexagon opening in the closed end is provided for rigidly removably securing a corresponding shank of one of the tool elements axially outwardly from the closed end when the tool element is in the operating position. A tapered butt is sealingly and threadably secured on the closed end for providing a protective weapon.

  • Patent number: 4627315
Abstract: In socket wrench of the present invention there is provided a storage cavity in the handle thereof for housing an attachable socket storage means or holder. Socket holder comprises a side plate and a cover plate being linked to each other in a L-shaped arrangement, the side plate having mid longitudinal portion thereof formed into a narrow and elongate guide slot for engagement and movement therein of a plurality of mounting stubs. Each stub is to receive a socket member to be mounted thereon. Prior to use of the socket wrench, socket holder can be drawn out therefrom, thereby reducing the weight in the handle advantageous to the manipulation of the wrench, and the upstanding disposition of the socket members of various sizes inside the holder allows removal of one socket member from the other members even more conveniently.

  • Patent number: 4572038
Abstract: An apparatus and method for using a multi-purpose tool having a handle with a shaft affixed thereto and a cylinder assembly disposed to longitudinally slide on the shaft between positions in which the shaft is fully extended or fully retracted. While in the fully retracted position, a cylinder having a plurality of chambers housing different tips may be rotated about its axis, which is offset from the shaft, until the desired tip aligns with and engages the shaft in coupling engagement. The shaft is then extended to its fully extended position, thus extending the tip and permitting free rotation of the working tip for use in performing work on a workpiece. Changing the tip requires retracting the shaft, rotating the cylinder to engage the next desired tip, and extending the shaft back to its fully extended position. The multi-purpose tool may be attached to a power tool for power driven rotation.

  • Patent number: 4552044
Abstract: A multibit screwdriver has a plurality of bits provided in a circular pattern within a handle magazine. A rotatable selector cup at the end of the handle permits selection of a desired bit from the magazine and placement in a chuck in the handle. An elongate slot is provided in the cup to permit the manipulation of the bit. An improved guidance arrangement is provided for guiding movement of a bit withdrawn from the handle magazine for insertion in the chuck. The guide device prevents rotation of the screwdriver bit while being transferred from the magazine to the chuck. An improved arrangement is provided for retaining a bit withdrawn from the handle magazine within the bit selector cup so that bits are not lost. The mounting of the bit selector cup on the handle is improved to facilitate assembly and use of the bit selector cup.

  • Patent number: 4552043
Abstract: A multibit screwdriver has a plurality of bits provided in a circular pattern within a handle magazine. A rotatable selector cup at the end of the handle permits selection of a desired bit from the magazine and placement in a chuck in the handle. An elongate slot is provided in the cup to permit the manipulation of the bit. The improvement in this screwdriver arrangement comprises an adaptation to the chuck and bit ends so that the selected bit end is readily placed within the chuck. This feature is accomplished by providing a number of operative faces on the bit end equal to the number of bits provided in the handle. Similarly, the chuck has a bore presenting a corresponding plurality of internal operative faces for engaging the bit end.
