The action of the blades upon the meat product pushes the meat product along the longitudinal axis at a velocity V2. An ejector prevents the meat product from rotating and transports the incised meat product from the cutting blades.

There is a honing device to sharpen the cutting edge of one type of blade, with the blade in its home position.

    Abstract: A cutting roller having cutting blades and a receiving roller are provided downstream of pulling-out rollers for pulling out a web, and the web passing between them is cut. The cutting blades are formed with narrow cutouts, and the receiving roller is provided with narrow annular grooves. Stretched tension guide members extend through the notches and the narrow annular grooves so as to guide the web. The portions of the web corresponding to the notches and the narrow annular grooves are not cut by the cutting blades and are left as uncut portions. However, these portions are broken easily by the tension applied to the web. Since the widths of the cutouts and the annular grooves are very narrow, the torn marks on the broken portions of the web are not remarkable.

    Abstract: A machine for slicing bakery products such as rolls and buns. Buns that are arranged in clusters having at least four buns each have their two outside buns sliced from the outer edges and the interior buns sliced from a location between them. A vertical disk with a dull edge is arranged to engage the weak line between the two interior buns to create a break from the bottom that provides access for the shaft of the slicing blade to pass through the bun cluster without disfiguring the buns. The disks and the slicing blades for the interior buns are carried on a lower slicing mechanism which underlies the conveyor system for the buns. The lower slicing mechanism can be slid out to one side of the machine for servicing. The disks can be lowered to an inoperative position by an actuating linkage, and the lower slicing blades are automatically released when the disks are lowered.

    Abstract: A system for aligning and squaring folded and glued boxes being conveyed serially in line or in a shingle utilizes a fixed set of alignment wheels positioned parallel to and on one side of the shingle and a set of adjustable alignment wheels positioned on the opposite lateral edge of the shingle. The adjustable alignment wheels can be adjusted as a unit to pivot on a vertical axis and to move laterally slightly into the path of the shingle. The pivot arm on which the adjustable wheels are mounted accommodates major misalignment of the initially incoming shingle, but is pivoted to an aligned position in the direction of shingle movement by the force of the moving shingle.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for longitudinally slitting a continuously moving shingle of sheets of corrugated paperboard includes a thin, circular rotary slitting blade cooperating with a lower roller assembly which supports the underside of the moving shingle and provides a firm surface to support the shingle against the upper rotating slitting blade. The roller assembly includes an annular circumferential slot in its outer surface through which an edge portion of the upper cutting blade travels with the shingle firmly supported by the roller surfaces on each side of the slot. In an embodiment of the invention for slitting a shingle of preformed knocked down boxes, the lateral edges of the advancing shingle are aligned and the shingle is held for movement into the slitting blade, resulting in extremely good registration and slit quality.

The holders carry knives which extend transversely of the path, and each holder further carries an elastic lip-shaped deflector which is located behind the respective knife and serves to maintain the leader of the web behind the separated length of the web in or close to the path so that the leader can enter a transporting unit which advances the severed lengths of the web to a stacking or other processing station. The lower deflector is installed immediately behind and the upper deflector is spaced apart from the rear side of the respective knife.

    Abstract: Apparatus for cutting stacks of sheets has a first cutting machine which subdivides large piles of overlapping sheets into elongated strip-shaped stacks. The stacks are accumulated on a platform which is moved into a second cutting machine wherein a selected number of stacks is pushed by a feeding device across the cutting plane of a guillotine type knife before the knife descends to separate smaller stacks which come to rest on a plate or enter a gap formed in response to retraction of the plate so that the severed portions of the stacks can be advanced to a processing machine. The stacks which are about to be severed are pushed by a biasing device against a stop which extends at right angles to the cutting plane in the second machine, and each such stack is further pushed by an aligning device so that it abuts the feeding device. This ensures that the stacks are properly oriented prior to severing by the knife in the second machine.

    Abstract: A resaw has twin arbors with one to six blades mounted on each arbor. In addition, the resaw has a rotatable fence with a continuous belt along its periphery. Two side pressure rollers are mounted adjacent to the rotatable fence between an entrance to the resaw and the blades. A workbed of the resaw is made up of a series of spiked rollers. Just prior to an exit from the resaw, there is located a top roller which is mounted normal to the side pressure rollers and can move further away from or closer to the workbed. The arbors are each powered by an electric motor. The rotatable fence, the side pressure rollers and the spiked rollers are all powered by hydraulic motors connected to a single power source and all rotate at the same speed at any given time. The side pressure rollers are automatically adjustable so that they exert pressure towards the rotatable fence on any wood that is located between said rollers and said fence.
