  • Patent number: 10940569
Abstract: A miter saw includes a fence assembly having a first fence fixedly coupled to a base of the miter saw. The fence assembly includes a moveable fence having a lower portion slidably received within a channel at least partially defined by the first fence. The fence assembly includes a locking member coupled to the first fence. The locking member extends into a groove defined by the lower portion of the moveable fence. The locking member is configured to engage the lower portion of the moveable fence to selectively lock the moveable fence between a retracted position and an extended position relative to the first fence. The fence assembly includes a retaining member coupled to the first fence and extending into the groove of the moveable fence. The locking member and the retaining member collectively restrict the moveable fence from moving in a direction away from the horizontal workpiece support surfaces.

  • Patent number: 10226876
Abstract: A dual slice bread machine for cutting slits into loaves of bread perpendicular to a conventional bread slice. The present system has an actuating rack having a series of regularly spaced piercing knives mounted thereon. The actuating rack is configured to be raised and lowered automatically. In use, a loaf of bread is placed underneath the actuating rack. When the actuating rack is lowered, the knives puncture the loaf, creating a series of vertical slits along the length of the loaf. The loaf is then cut with a conventional bread slicing machine where the slices alternate between a slice that dissects a vertical slit and a cut that is positioned exactly in between two adjacent vertical slits. This creates a loaf with slices having a centered living hinge capable of being easily folded and separated into equal halves.

  • Patent number: 9682454
Abstract: An in-line indexing mechanism as part of a work-stop system which employs a lead screw to alter the relative distance between a work-stop plate and a swing arm—as well as alignment pins and springs to maintain contact and rigidity between this work-stop plate and swing arm—in order to precisely alter the parameters of a workpiece plane. In particular, the indexing mechanism of the preferred embodiment resides within the extension of an arm, and is located, by default, within the workpiece plane; the act of indexing therefore exerts force upon a workpiece along a coincident axis within said workpiece plane. Additionally, the indexing mechanism may be removed from the workpiece plane, by way of axially rotating the arm, without abandoning the original workpiece parameter and adjustment values.

Abstract: Operating a power saw between a pair of parallel guide rails, which engage opposing sides of saw base plate to constrain the motion of the saw to a straight path, allows for precise cuts. A set of two or more fences allows for multiple cutting options. In some embodiments, non-parallel fences coupled to the guide rails allow for precise cuts at more than just a single angle. In some embodiments, two fences may engage opposing sides of the object to be cut simultaneously, holding the object more securely with respect to the guide rails than would a single fence. A possible clamping force holding the two fences against the object allows the miter guide to remain fixed relative to the object so that the user's hand may be freed for another task, such as holding the saw with both hands.

The alignment device includes a three piece connector that allows for easy set-up of wings on either side of the saw, which are used to support the material being cut. Because the wings attach directly to the saw itself, the wings stay in exactly the same relationship to the saw blade. Thus, when a stop is attached to the wing, material can be cut to the same size lengths, even though the saw may be taken down one day and set up another day.

Abstract: An adjustable product guide assembly for a product saw device includes a product guide plate mounted to a first bracket which is slidable on a bar; a handle mounted on top of a second bracket in an ergonomic location, the handle being connected to a shaft and which rotates a first worm gear pinned to the shaft; a second worm gear which is turned by the first worm gear, the second worm gear which is pinned to a pinion gear; a gear rack on the bar, the gear rack having gear rack teeth which are engaged with the pinion gear; a biasing member disposed between the second bracket that houses the first worm gear and the second worm gear and the first bracket; wherein when the handle is pressed down, in a gear releasing mechanism, the second bracket pivots and compresses the biasing member such that the gear rack teeth disengage from the pinion gear via the first worm gear and the second worm gear, and the product guide plate can be moved along the gear rack teeth of the bar.

  • Patent number: 6240822
Abstract: A novel precise, multiple indexing jig used in conjunction with power tools, especially a power saw, is disclosed. The jig includes a longitudinal indexing rod that precisely locates and supports by pivotal articulation, a plurality of swing arms. The swing arms can be rotated onto the table and used as stops to assist in positioning a work piece on the device that is to be worked at a specific location, such as the cut length for a saw. When they would be in the way of a work piece, they can be rotated away from the table. The indexing rod is positioned parallel to a guide fence that also locates the work piece. A series of location supports are also located on the indexing rod and further support the swing arms. An alternative embodiment enables the guide fence to also index with the swing arms, thereby increasing the structural stability of the swing arms when they are positioned as stops.

  • Patent number: 6206060
Abstract: The present invention is a jig system for precisely positioning the placement of multiple cuts such as in the placement of dovetail or box joints cut in a wood panel. A row of multi-use adjustable spacers controls the indexing of a workpiece and can be used with a stationary and/or a portable cutting tool. The movability of the spacers permits a workpiece to be cut on both sides of a guide bar fence thereby assuring that the first cut will always be made on the same side of a drawer and will be esthetically pleasing regardless of the width of the workpiece. Additionally, the adjustability of the spacers accommodates any desired cutting tool height, angle and/or size.
