  • Patent number: 4492136
Abstract: A cutter system for pipe casings and the like, including a generally "C" shaped cutter assembly body having an always open side entry and exit area leading into the centrally located cutter area with an annular trackway extending an exemplary 290.degree. about the operative center of the cutter system. A cutter sub-assembly is carried on the trackway for back and forth movement of an exemplary 110.degree. in each direction with the sub-assembly carrying two, directly opposed rotating cutter blades which cut the pipe casing as the sub-assembly is moved to and from on the trackway. The two blades travel in each direction a minimum of one-half their arcuate spacing difference and preferrably less than their arcuate spacing difference, producing a full 360.degree. cut. The cutters are radially moved in and out by a reciprocating yoke assembly. The cutter body assembly is pivotally mounted onto a telescoping boom attached to for example a work vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4457195
Abstract: The invention disclosed relates to cutters for automatically cutting strips of material such as wire rope, electrical cable, or any other desired cylindrical, linear material. The apparatus proposed is best suited for cutting wire rope having a diameter of from 1/4 inch to about 1 inch. The cutting apparatus includes a controlled turntable upon which a roll of wire rope is mounted, the wire rope is directed through the tubular guide into two oppositely disposed rollers which are adjusted to size for feeding the wire to a cutter. Adjacent the cutter a V-groove platform is provided in which the wire rope lays during cutting. The V-groove is formed by adjacent doorsections that pivot to permit the cut piece to fall through the opened doors to a container below the table. The apparatus is provided with a suitable electrical circuit for operating the cutter motor, the grip roller, the turntable and controls for movement of the cutter and opening the V-groove doors.

  • Patent number: 4403535
Abstract: The invention comprises an improved cordwood cutting saw accessory for small garden tractors. The saw frame is proportioned and constructed to provide a safely operable saw attachment without the need for auxiliary stabilizing supports and level ground upon which to park the tractor and operate the saw.The saw frame is cantilevered from the front of the garden tractor the minimum horizontal distance necessary to support a circular saw blade and shaft adjacent the top of the tractor cowl. The elevation of the saw is substantially between the waist and shoulders of the saw user. The vertical height of the saw frame is equal or greater than the horizontal cantilevered length of the saw frame and two or more times the height from the ground of the cantilevered attachment to the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4336733
Abstract: A rocking arm saw is disclosed which may be used in one mode with an operating handle as a pull-through power saw for accurate cross or angle cutting while being readily convertable by removal of the handle to a table saw for ripping or groove cutting. The saw in its free standing form comprises a cutting surface platform and work table top, a subjacent box-like machinery housing, and a base support ventilating structure sized to provide a carrying box for the housing. When used as a pull-through saw, the rocking arm is urged elastically through its forward cutting stroke and biased rearwardly to a blade retracted position. The table top is thus maintained free of blade obstruction since the blade is protectively shielded beneath the cutting surface upon the user releasing the operating handle.

  • Patent number: 4318324
Abstract: A cutting machine having a circular cutting tool, such as a saw blade for cutting a workpiece in two, has the blade mounted on an arm to swing from an inactive or raised position above the workpiece down into engagement with the latter. A guard protects the operator of the machine from the blade and includes a cylindrical cover journaled to turn relative to the blade and enclosing both sides and the edge of the blade. A notch is formed in the cover and faces away from the operator when the blade is in the raised position and a link turns the cover automatically as the blade is lowered so that the notch faces downwardly and exposes the blade to the workpiece. When the blade is in the raised position, the notched portion of the cover projects into a shell so that the blade is completely enclosed at that time.
