Abstract: A portable circular saw guide system for use with a portable circular saw. The system may comprise a U-shaped channel track, a saw sled, and a spacer bar. A user may make accurate and straight lengthwise cuts in sheeting material quickly and easily without employing a table saw using the system. The user's own portable circular saw is coupled to the top surface of the saw sled using the sled's two biasing clamps. A spacer bar is used to gauge the distance between the inside flat surface (distal edge) of the saw blade and the channel track for securing the exact position of the portable circular saw on the saw sled. The channel track is clamped parallel to the cut-line and the saw sled placed within the U-shaped channel. The saw is turned on and the saw with the coupled sled is pushed through the channel to make the cut.

Abstract: A method for automatically cutting a workpiece comprising the steps of moving a workpiece along its longitudinal axis, positioning a cutting blade by rotating the blade about a vertical axis, positioning the cutting blade by rotating about a bevel axis, and vertically moving the blade into cutting contact with the workpiece, thereby stab cutting the workpiece and creating a bevel cut. The method may also comprise moving the blade along a transverse axis. Further steps may include moving the cutting blade along a transverse axis simultaneous to moving the workpiece along it longitudinal axis, thereby creating a scarf cut.

Abstract: A multi-head film slitter slits wide film having a photosensitive emulsion layer oriented upwards to produce motion picture film. A lower rotary blade has a lower cutting edge. An upper rotary blade has an upper cutting edge, for shearing the wide film with the lower cutting edge. The upper and lower cutting edges are overlapped partially, and contact one another in a position downstream in a running direction of the wide film. A clearance is provided between the upper and lower cutting edges in a position upstream in the running direction. Also, a lower blade shaft rotates the lower blade. An upper blade shaft is disposed higher than the lower blade shaft, for rotating the upper blade. The clearance is provided by inclining the upper blade shaft on a plane on which the upper blade shaft lies and which is parallel with the wide film.
