  • Patent number: 7547153
Abstract: A movable blade unit is fixed to a cutter release lever. The cutter release lever is attached to an upper frame by a cutter supporting point shaft so as to freely oscillate. A latch lever holding the upper frame at a closed position and a cutter lock lever locking the cutter release lever are integrated, and are coupled by an opening and closing lever. If the opening and closing lever is pushed down, the cutter lock lever cancels the lock of the cutter release lever while keeping a state in which the latch lever latches the upper frame. Accordingly, in the movable blade unit, a driving force transmission path between the movable blade unit and a cutter driving motor is disconnected, and a movable blade is returned to a home position by a return spring.

  • Publication number: 20080168874
Abstract: A punch apparatus for punching holes through a paper stack. The apparatus has a rotationally attached lever handle. The lever handle has a handle end, a contact end, and a rotation axis between the handle end and the contact end. When a downward force is applied to the handle end, the lever handle rotates about the rotation axis. The contact end of the lever handle then exerts a force on a lever arm which in turn rotates a main shaft and attached pressure plate. As a result, the pressure plate exerts a punching force down on punch pins causing them to punch down through the paper stack.

Abstract: A system includes a first scoring station, an optional second scoring station, and a cutting station. The first scoring station includes a stationary platen for supporting a substrate, a movable platen juxtaposed a spaced distance therefrom, and one or more scoring rules operatively associated with the platen and movable between a substrate non-contact position and a substrate contact position by the platen. The scoring rules may be independently movable in a selective manner for creating score lines at selective locations along the substrate when the platen moves the scoring rules into the substrate contact position. The scoring rules may be configured with scoring blades having selectively adjustable lengths and locations. The scoring rules may be constructed of a plurality of scoring segments that form the scoring blade. Each scoring segment is selectively movable between a scoring position and a non-scoring position for creating customizable score line lengths and locations.

  • Patent number: 6289696
Abstract: In an apparatus (1) for the severing of gobs from one or more strands (2;3) of molten glass, the severing of each gob is effected by a shear blade pair (5;6). A shear blade (7,8;9,10) of each shear blade pair is arranged on an associated, pivotably mounted shear arm (11;12). The two shear arms (11;12) are coaxially and freely pivotably mounted relative to each other on a common column (13). Each shear arm is pivotably drivable synchronously in relation to the other by its own separate drive means (24;25).

  • Patent number: 6234057
Abstract: A product for cutting cables with spiral-wound, metallic casings. The product includes a frame having a base portion and a carriage portion pivotally attached to the base portion. The base portion has a receptacle for supporting a cable to be cut. A pair of rip saws are mounted on the carriage portion. Each of the rip saws has a rotating blade positioned for engagement with a cable in the receptacle at an orientation parallel to the longitudinal axis of the receptacle. A crosscut saw is mounted on the carriage portion between the rip saws. The crosscut saw also has a rotating blade positioned for engagement with a cable in the receptacle. This latter blade is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the receptacle. In use, the carriage portion is manually pivoted toward the base portion to simultaneously engage the blades of the rip and crosscut saws with a cable in the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6138546
Abstract: A hand operated cutting apparatus and method of cutting mat board, glass, and other related sheet-like framing material. The apparatus has a cutting head assembly which includes a plurality of interchangeable and adjustable blade holding units. Each blade holding unit provides a different type of cut, such as a beveled, straight edge, or V-groove cut. Most of the blade holding units are intended for use with mat board, but some can be used to cut and trim sheet-like glass or plastic framing material. Each blade holding unit is also capable of vertical adjustment relative to the workpiece so that various depths of cut can be provided. The method of cutting a mat board permits the mat board to be positioned face up on the base board of the cutting apparatus and does not require flipping or taping of the mat board during V-groove cutting operations.

Abstract: An apparatus for separating a ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber at a plurality of positions at once, wherein the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber includes a number of single-core fibers arranged in parallel. This apparatus comprises a first cutting member in which a plurality of sets of arc faces opposed to each other by way of a through path for inserting the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber are disposed along the through path, while the arc faces in the respective sets extend from one side section of the through path halfway through the width direction of the through path; a second cutting member having a plurality of arc faces which continuously extend to and are adapted to join with the respective arc faces of the first cutting member in the width direction of the through path; and guide members which are respectively disposed at both end positions of the through path so as to position the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber inserted into the through path.

The chopper has at least two chopper assemblies on a rotating frame. When one chopper assembly needs repair, the frame is rotated which brings a rebuilt or repaired chopper assembly into operating position quickly and also brings the assembly needing repair into a position where it can be worked on while the other chopper is operating resulting in much reduced downtime. The frame of the chopper can rotate around a vertical or horizontal line, or around a line passing through two opposite corners of a frame.

Abstract: A compound miter saw includes a table on which a workpiece is placed, a miter saw unit supporting a saw blade, and a housing pivotally supporting the miter saw unit related to the table in such a manner that the miter saw unit is at least laterally pivotable. Further, the miter saw includes a bevel mechanism for selectively determining the lateral position of the miter saw unit at any of a plurality of pivoted positions, including a vertical position where the saw blade is positioned substantially vertically relative to the table, and leftward and rightward pivoted positions where the blade is inclined laterally leftwardly and laterally rightwardly from the vertical position. The bevel mechanism includes a movable rod and three fixed stop members, the rod being operable to move between a first rod position abutting one of the fixed stop members and a second rod position not abutting the one of the fixed stop members so as to permit the lateral pivotal movement of the miter saw unit.
