  • Patent number: 4938263
Abstract: A machine for cutting logs to provide a dovetail log joint is provided with a number of saw legs which are slidably mounted on carriages, some of which are movable in order to adjust the angle of inclination of the saw blades. This machine permits dovetail tenons to be formed at either end of a log to provide both inside and outside corner joints. All of the necessary cuts can be effected while the log is held in a fixed position, it is only necessary to move the log longitudinally of itself in order to form the tenons at opposite ends. C-clamps are also provided for applying pressure to the log joint during assembly of the joint.

  • Patent number: 4375775
Abstract: A precision stamping press comprises a press head reciprocally mounted upon a bed for movement, along a press axis, towards a fixed position die support which is axially aligned with the press axis. Cooperating die members are removable fastened to the press head and to the die support for stamping sheet metal placed therebetween. The die support is mounted upon one end of an elongated arm which extends transversely away from the press axis. The opposite end of the arm is pivotally connected to the bed. Thus, the die support may be swung, about the arm pivot, out of its press axis aligned position for replacement of its die member, and then swung back into axial alignment with the press axis for stamping use. Screws, which extend parallel to the press axis, releasably fasten the arm to the bed for fixing the position of the die support.

  • Patent number: 4369681
Abstract: An inside-out cutter for material such as tow in which there is a single pressure roller, which roller has an outside diameter larger than one-half the inside diameter described by the cutting edges of the blades. The large diameter of such roller provides a gradual rather than an abrupt entrance-way for the fiber between the roller and the blades. The apparatus further is constructed to permit the movement of the pressure roller to be moved from a fiber cutting relation to the blades to a more centered position for removal of the roller from the apparatus, as when changing blades or the like.

  • Patent number: 4338838
Abstract: An apparatus for slitting workpieces has a machine frame which includes a work support, a workpiece stop and a rotary saw which is slidable in the frame. The frame is supported on feet, at least two of which are positioned on a line parallel to the feed path of a workpiece into the apparatus. Another of the feet can be hydraulically withdrawn to allow the machine frame to tilt about an axis defined by engagement of the aforesaid two feet with a bedplate, and thereby to bring the work support and the lower part of the workpiece stop below the workpiece feed path, so that a workpiece may be advanced unobstructed into the apparatus. The apparatus is tilted back to its working position after the workpiece is in its desired position.

Abstract: A system for the production of dipped taper candles, including an overhead conveyor system supporting mobile carrier racks for formation of the candles in suspended relation from the rack, and including a wicking station for providing rows of candle wicks in generally tensioned suspended relation from a carrier rack, a dipping station for automatically dipping said wicks on the rack through a predetermined number of dipping cycles, a cutoff station for cutting off the bases including the wick tensioning weights of the candles suspended from the carrier rack, a butt forming station for heat forming the cut butt ends of candles suspended from the carrier rack, and a cut down station for expeditiously cutting down the carrier rack rows of the candles formed on the candle wicks and for collecting the same for further processing. The invention also provides a novel method of producing plysically uniform candles in mass production batches.

  • Patent number: 4286489
Abstract: A dispenser guides a web from a roll of sheet material over a feed roller to a position to be grasped by the user while roller mounted knife means cuts the web into individual sheets and a manually engagable handwheel, rotatable with the feed roller, provides peripherally spaced finger notches to facilitate manual forward rotation of the roller in dispensing the material. The notches are formed differently in separate circumferential portions of the handwheel such that pawl means, successively engaging the notches incident handwheel rotation, prevents reverse rotation of the feed roller throughout a first portion of each feed roller revolution and biasing means acts to cause reverse rotation throughout a second portion of the feed roller revolution to assure return of the knife means to a safe inaccessible location within the dispenser when the handwheel is released.

Abstract: A tool is disclosed for slitting cable to separate individual conductors or groups of conductors from the cable as a whole and as required in order to form a wiring harness. The subject tool is particularly useful for slitting cable of the type known as flat flexible cable in which a plurality of flat conductors are embedded in or laminated between sheets of insulation. The tool includes a cutting head in which one or more cutting elements is inserted. Each cutting element has at least one cutting wheel fixed thereon at a particular location which would lie between conductors of the cable. The tool also includes clamping means so that the cable is securely positioned and will not slip during the cutting operation.
