Abstract: A method of manufacturing packaged curved edge cigarette rolling papers including stacking a cigarette rolling paper blanks to form a leaf stack. The leaf stack is enclosed within a folded cover to form a covered leaf stack. A band is wrapped around the covered leaf stack to hold the leaf stack in alignment with the cover while the cover and leaf stack is die cut to form packaged curved edge cigarette rolling papers. The curved edge is continuous arc, for example an elliptical arc which eliminates the corners that can interfere with cigarette hand rolling.
Abstract: A knife assembly for attachment to an industrial paper trimming or cutting machine having a primary blade and a backbone blade where the cutting edge of the backbone blade is offset at an angle ? from the cutting edge of the primary blade. The knife assembly is removably attached to a cutting machine configured to move in a reciprocating motion to trim edges from soft bound single paper products.
Abstract: A binding machine includes a body, an actuator coupled with the body, and a punch mechanism housed in the body for punching a stack of sheets upon actuation of the actuator. The punch mechanism includes a plate including a plurality of punch pins. The punch pins are configured to punch through the stack of sheets during a punch stroke, the punch stroke defining a force profile. A portion of the force profile defined from a first drop in force to a last peak force before a final decrease has no more than a 15 percent change in force relative to a normalized maximum force of the force profile.
Abstract: Veneer cutter, wherein the cutting is provided by a blade, the front rake face thereof being movable to pass a stationary counter blade, substantially in a perpendicular direction to the plane of the veneer. The cutter includes two blades in a common cutting movement and arranged at a distance from each other in the feed direction of the veneer. The cutting blades are located with their front rake faces facing away from each other, and the first blade in the feed direction is positioned at a higher elevation from a common plane of the counter blades than the second blade.

Abstract: The present invention generally provides a blind trimming apparatus including a frame supporting a cutting tool, the cutting tool including a cutting edge, a blade holder supported on the frame for movement with respect to the cutting tool along a cutting path, and a blade insert including a cutting edge and being connectable to the blade holder for movement with the blade holder with respect to the cutting tool to trim blinds between the cutting edge of the cutting tool and the cutting edge of the blade insert. One of the blade holder and the blade insert defines a locating recess and the other of the blade holder and the blade insert includes a locating protrusion, which is engageable in the locating recess to align the blade insert with respect to the blade holder.

Abstract: A hole punch has a length in a first direction, a plurality of punch blocks each having a sinusoidal first guide surface, a slider movable along a frame in the first direction, and a roller connected to the slider at a position to engage the first guide surface of each punch block. Each punch block is fixed in the frame in the first direction and is moveable in the frame in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Each punch block also includes at least a punch head facing the second direction, and a retracting mechanism for urging the punch block in opposite the second direction to an initial position. When the slider moves in the first direction along the frame, the roller pushes the first guide surface near the middle of the punch block moving the punch block in the second direction to punch holes.

Abstract: A slideable hole punch, having an upper seat, at least one drill set and a lower seat. The upper seat has a slide track allowing one slide member to move thereon. The upper seat is fitted over the lower seat. The lower seat accommodates the drill set and has an internal slot. The drill set is disposed between the upper and lower seats. A paper slot is formed between the upper and lower seats. Thereby, paper can be disposed in the paper slot and slide along the slide track by the slide member. The slide member can then press upon the drill set to perforate through the paper to form holes with desired shapes and distances.

Abstract: A cutting machine of dual blade feeding for a blind of foamed plastics, more specially a cutting machine providing the cutting application for the blind of foamed plastics that includes a filing board with a squeezing blade and a trimming blade mounted relative to the cutting end. The squeezing blade and the trimming blade respond to a shiftable tool block. During the cutting process, when the squeezing blade and the trimming blades move respectively, the shifting corresponding to the shifting status of the tool block can be used to provide the two cutting tools with the resistant force of press cutting to align to the angular position to produce an evenly cut end of the foamed plastics.

The tool is manufactured in that a number of blades (2) are placed densely packed together in a bracket. Abstract: A method and a device for joining rubber sheets. A pressing disk having a shape that a cutting disk is cut at an edge thereof by about 0.7 mm to 1.0 mm joins with pressure edge parts of unvulcanized rubber sheets which are stackably aligned with one another and clamped. The cutting disk cuts the joined edge parts of the rubber sheets. Another pressing disk having a shape that the edge of the cutting disk is cut by about 0.7 mm to 1.0 mm is moved on the cut edge parts along the cutting line in the same manner as the cutting disk, thereby securely joining the joined parts by pressing them again.
Abstract: A cutting die and chisel for cutting a stack of material such as paper and the like. The cutting die has a cutting edge for cutting a central portion in the material and the chisel has a cutting edge for cutting the excess peripheral portion of the stack so that the peripheral portion does not interfere with the cutting of the central portion. As the shear passes through the pipe, the plastic material of the plastic pipe is deformed forming a seal against the faces of the shear.

Abstract: A system is provided which utilizes a plurality of sequentially controlled magnetic repulsion punches arranged in a variable array to punch a constantly moving substrate. These punches are disposed adjacent the constant velocity substrate on which holes, or vias are formed as the punches are sequentially fired. The array of punches is placed at an angle with respect to the perpendicular of the direction of movement of the substrate. Thus, a delay is present between the time when the first punch must be fired and the firing of subsequent punches, due to the angle of the array. Therefore, due to this delay between the time the first punch must energized, and the energizing of subsequent punches a single power supply is capable of providing energy to a group of punches.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for receiving a molded carrier ring package and removing the electronic component from the surrounding ring while cutting and forming the leads of the component. The shear provides that leads on two opposite sides of a rectangulopiped component are cut just prior to the leads extending from the remaining two sides, during one stroke of the shear, such that the applied force required to cut all of the leads is reduced by acting on one-half of the leads at a time, and such that the applied forces are balanced on opposite sides of the component. Each of a punch and die is easily interchanged with a replacement, and a scrap remover is continuously adjustable during closing of the jaws thereof, so that it is a simple matter to change the tooling and otherwise accommodate devices of different sizes. Also, the apparatus provides for diverting the forces of the shearing and forming action from a shuttle for transporting the device so as to minimize wear and tear on it.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to apparatus for cutting irradiated fuel elements when in the horizontal position. A fuel element is placed on a support and presents a cross-section for cutting. The fuel element may be displaced along its longitudinal axis. In the immediate proximity of the cutting section, the fuel element is compressed by at least one side clamp, and between two cuts the side clamp(s) is/are unclamped, the fuel element is then advanced by a desired length, and the side clamp(s) is/are reclamped. The end pieces cut off by end piece cutters fall into a fixed end piece removal apparatus. The rods are cut up inside a cavity in such a manner as to confine the cut-off lengths therein, the cavity being provided with a bottom opening enabling the cut-off lengths to be removed and directed towards a fixed rod-removal apparatus. In a preferred embodiment, the end pieces are cut off against the front face of the carriage which carries the rod-cutting blade.

Abstract: The excess covering material is trimmed from a workpiece using a blade assembly having side by side blade segments with cutting edges aligned with the contour to be cut. A rubber roller applies a longitudinal cutting force to the blade segments in sequential fashion by rolling across the blade segments ends opposite the cutting ends. The blade segments are returned to the noncutting position by a tension wire threaded through a notch in the shaft of each of the blade segments. Cutting pressure is adequate to cut through at least three layers of covering material without scoring the substrate. The rubber roller provides certain resiliency which helps control the cutting pressure.
Abstract: An apparatus which cuts grooves in duct board panel is provided which includes a cutting head assembly which travels transversely across the apparatus on a cross track which is mounted to travel along the length of the apparatus. The cross track is positioned according to indicia along the side of the apparatus which indicate where grooves should be cut to form a particular size air duct, and a plurality of different cutting blades carried by the cutting head are sequentially rotated into use to sequentially cut a plurality of differently shaped grooves across the duct board panel.

Abstract: Punches for paper and the like have a metal pin having a male punch element formed on one end and a pressure application area on the opposite end. To withdraw the punch pin an enlargement is formed at or near the opposite end, the enlargement cooperating with a gripper or a spring in the punch to cause the pin to retract when the pressure applicator retracts. Abstract: There is disclosed herein a combined punch and binding machine having a pressure bar assembly for use in the selected actuation of punch members. The pressure bar includes an elongated back plate having an actuator insert receiving aperture at each end thereof, a row of set pin receiving apertures, and a plurality of forwardly extending stripper plate engaging fingers. The pressure bar assembly also includes an elongated unitary forward member for alignment with and securement to said back plate member. The unitary member includes an actuator receiving recess at each end aligned with said plate receiving apertures. The unitary member also includes a housing defining a row of elongated and forwardly extending set pin receiving slots, each slot aligned with and spaced from the back plate set pin apertures. A spacer shoulder is also provided for spacing the pin receiving slots from the back plate to define a inactive punch receiving space.
