Abstract: A device and method for stamping or extruding molten glass sheet material into discrete glass parts defined by the shape of a metal or ceramic die may use force applied through one or more metal or ceramic punches to form precisely shaped glass parts. A molten glass sheet material may be positioned over the die and under the punches for processing. The molten glass material may be pushed through the die using, for example, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and/or manual force to create a shearing action. The resulting glass part(s) may be subsequently moved to an annealing leer for controlled cooling while the residual sheet material may be gathered for recycling. Parts created with this method may be arranged into assemblies to combine colors for decorative effect, and reheated to unify them into a single solid piece comprised of an assembly of formerly discrete glass parts.

A guide hole that guides the punch in the vertical direction is formed to have a narrow upper part, a wider lower part and inclined surfaces between them. An actuation pin engages with a cam and the punch moves up and down to punch a hole when a cam member reciprocates. The actuation pin abuts with the inclined surface of the guide hole at the punching position, so that the punch is rotated and a cam inclined angle is reduced by an inclined angle of the guide hole, allowing a large punching force.

The cuts are made while the food material is lightly compressed and confined in a press. The press consists of a compression chamber having a bottom surface. The cutter is placed at the bottom of the compression chamber. Food material is then placed into the compression chamber atop the cutter. A compression plate is placed over the food material. The compression plate is pressed down to compress the food material. The compression squeezes the food material and liberates any excess fluids that may be present within the food material. This conditions the food material. The cutter is then pulled through the conditioned food.

Essentially longitudinal openings (7) are advantageously punched out of a sheet metal plate (2 and 12) symmetrically about an axis (6), these longitudinal openings (7) being situated parallel to each other, respectively. The sheet metal plate (2, 12) is then folded about the axis (6) in order to form the double-layered punching tool elements (5). This allows the use of more simple punching machines and enables a punching machine to be produced from just a few individual parts.

Abstract: Narrow aerial and die-mount cams, each having a cam adapter, a driver and a slide sandwiched between the cam adapter and driver. The narrow aerial cam slide has an elongate primary portion that has a T-shaped cross-section and has a primary bearing surface, and the cam adapter has a rectangular recess. An elongate keeper plate having a longitudinal slot is secured to each side of the cam adapter adjacent the rectangular recess to slidably retain the primary portion of the slide within the longitudinal slots and the rectangular recess. The primary bearing surface and a pair of intermediate bearing surfaces formed in the slide below the primary portion slidably support the keeper plates and thus the cam adapter. The driver slidably supports the slide. The narrow die-mount cam is basically an inverted version of the aerial cam.
