Notching Plus Nonnotching Tool Patents (Class 83/683)
  • Patent number: 11472148
Abstract: An apparatus for making a self-opening wide mouth bag pack includes a supply of flexible film material. An extruder forms a continuous tube. A flattener flattens the tube. A first sealer forms a bottom seal across a width of the flattened tube. A cutter cuts the flattened tube into bag blanks has a bag mouth at a predetermined distance from the bottom seal. Second and third sealers form angled seals at lower corners of the bag blank forming a flat bottomed bag. An adhesion knife penetrates the bag pack adhering adjacent bag blanks together in the bag pack. An aperture maker forms apertures for suspending the bag pack from a dispensing rack. The pack is attached to the dispensing rack and the front wall of the subsequent bag is adhered to the rear wall of a first bag, thereby causing the first bag to open when pulled from the rack.

Abstract: An apparatus for making a self-opening bag pack includes a supply of film material. An extruder forms a continuous tube of film. A flattener flattens the tube. A corona treater treats at least one surface of the flattened tube. A first sealer forms a bottom seam across a width of the flattened tube. A cutter cuts the flattened tube into bag blanks at a predetermined distance from the bottom seam. A stacker forms the bag blanks into a bag pack. A non-linear adhesion knife penetrates the bag pack and adheres adjacent bag blanks together in the bag pack. An aperture maker forms means for suspending the pack from a dispensing rack. The pack is attached to the dispensing rack and the front wall of the subsequent bag will be adhered to the rear wall of a first bag, thereby causing the first bag to open when pulled from the rack.

An associated apparatus includes a punching device and a cutting device. The punching device includes an incision tool, an abutting counter-blade, and control devices for moving the incision tool and the abutting counter-blade toward and away from the ribbon. • Publication number: 20100221056
Abstract: A printer with a cutter does not have cutting problems caused by adhesive squeezed from label paper. In a scissor type automatic cutter 20 the contact force between the cutting edge 22a of the movable knife 22 and the cutting edge 21a of the fixed knife 21 weakens at the other side of the paper width, and as the movable knife 22 pivots, adhesive between the web liner 11a and the continuous label 11b medium is squeezed out from the label paper 11 at the distal end side of the movable knife 22 and sticks to the fixed knife 21 or the movable knife 22. Because a notched opening 44 is formed in the upstream edge 50a in the paper discharge direction at the other edge part in the paper width direction of the substantially horizontal stage surface 40 that defines the bottom edge 5a of the paper exit 5, if adhesive sticking to the fixed knife 21 or movable knife 22 moves to the stage surface 40 side, the adhesive can be removed from the notched opening 44 and does not accumulate on the stage surface 40.

  • Patent number: 7650824
Abstract: This invention generally relates to enlarging a hole in a substrate such that the enlarged hole is centered on the existing hole. A knock-out punch and die tool for enlarging a knock-out hole in an electrical box includes a punch; a generally cup shaped die; a threaded central shaft supporting the punch on one end and the die on the other end; a removable centering element placed in a cup portion of the die; and a resilient element, such as a spring, urging the centering element in an axial direction along a length of the shaft outwardly of the cup portion. The centering element and the spring may be provided as a retrofitting kit for converting non-centering punch and die tools into centering punch and die tools.

  • Patent number: 6766723
Abstract: A grid pattern punch type multiaxis punch device is capable of simultaneously punching punched holes of the same shape showing different shapes for every location at each of the same positions in each of the areas defined in a work. Every time a work is moved in X-axis, Y-axis directions under its controlled state, a hammer holder is moved in a horizontal direction under its controlled state, a punch drive source (a servo motor) is driven under a state in which hammers are corresponded just above optional punches at the same positions in each group of units, each of the punches present at the same positions in the group of units is punched by each of the hammers, thereby the punch holes having the same shapes showing different shapes for every location are punched simultaneously at each of the same locations within each area defined in the work.

  • Publication number: 20020157511
Abstract: The invention provides an improved method and apparatus to prepare trim cap material for bending, the apparatus comprising at least one notcher and at least one dimpler employed: (1) to notch the trim cap material to facilitate bending, but ensuring that the notch is not so large or deep so as to result in cracking when the trim cap material is bent resulting in unsightly appearance and performance deficiencies when the trim cap is installed as part of a completed sign and (2) to dimple the trim cap material so that the dimple is visible from both sides of the trim cap material.

  • Patent number: 6401586
Abstract: A tax stamp perforator and notcher applies a diagonal line of spaced apart perforations on a tax stamp for subsequent application to a cigarette pack. The stamp is glued or otherwise applied to the cigarette pack normally across the back of the pack and one of the sides thereof. When the cigarette pack is opened the tax stamp is torn along the line of perforations. In order to facilitate rapid application of tax stamps to a production line of cigarette packs, notches in the form of lines of increased densification are applied to each stamp in the area where the stamp is bent around the side of the cigarette pack. These lines of increased densification are arranged parallel to the edge of the cigarette pack, and preferably one of the lines lies along the edge of the cigarette pack to thereby reduce the ability of the tax stamp to spring back away from the pack when glued to the pack. This feature enables the stamps to be applied to the packs at high production rates.

Abstract: An alignment device for aligning a punch tool to punch a design into a sheet media. The alignment device comprises a base platform having at least one sheet media receiving area. The base platform has at least one punch tool receiving area with at least one punch tool mount disposed therein. The punch tool mount is configured to removably secure the punch tool, and a portion of the punch tool mount protrudes into the sheet media receiving area. The device also comprises first and second guide edges disposed angularly from at least one of the punch tool mounts. The first guide edge disposed on one side of the punch tool mount. The second guide edge disposed on an opposite side of the punch tool mount. When the punch tool is secured in the punch tool mount with the punch tool protruding into the sheet media receiving area and when the sheet media is placed in the sheet media receiving area and along the first and second guide edges, the punch tool is positioned to punch the design into the sheet media.

  • Patent number: 5195412
Abstract: A cutoff system for exterior siding which includes a flying punch and shear. The system includes a main carriage which is adapted to reciprocate and, in one direction of travel, move at the same speed as the siding to be cut. A pair of punches are then actuated to form the hanger and butt notches at the lateral edges of the siding. Upon withdrawal of the punches, the travel of the main cylinder is slowed such that the siding travels away from the punching area. Upon sensing the notched areas, the main carriage is again moved to travel at the same speed as the siding. The speed is timed such that the center of the notches is located below a shear. This shear is then actuated to form a single parting line across the siding. The carriage is then retracted to await the next cycle of the system. As such, with each cycle of the system, the notches are formed in the trailing and leading edges of adjacent panel segments, and the leading panel segment cut from the continuous siding.
