Patent number: 5101873Abstract: A tree cutting apparatus includes a frame having forward and rearward ends, with a pair of generally planar blades rotatably mounted on the forward end of the frame. The blades are mounted spaced apart within the same plane, each blade having a cutting edge extending around a portion of the periphery thereof. Each cutting edge has a forward and rearward end, with the cutting edge being spaced a distance from the rotational axis of each blade increasing from the forward end to the rearward end, such that the cutting edges of the blades move closer to one another as the blades rotate to cut a tree or the like.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1990Date of Patent: April 7, 1992Inventor: Lorry E. Patent number: 5044244Abstract: A heavy duty punch for piercing armor plate and the like has a shank by which the punch may be held when in use and a piercing end projecting axially from the shank. The piercing end terminates in a sharp-edged tip. The tip is connected to the shank by a reduced-diameter portion defined by a curved sidewall extending axially from the tip toward the shank and a straight-sided sidewall extending axially from the curved sidewall toward the shank. The straight-sided sidewall is spaced from the tip a distance slightly greater than the thickness of the workpiece being punched; the diameter of the straight-sided sidewall is slightly less than the diameter of the tip.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1990Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Inventor: Charles W. Patent number: 4923379Abstract: An apparatus for the instant cutting of hollow-cored concrete slabs wherein the cast cored slabs are subjected to an instant cutting operation prior to the hardening of the concrete mix in such a manner that exposes the cores and the ends of the cores are filled to avoid jointing mix from intruding into the cores. The instant cutting is performed by driving two sheet-shaped cutting blades (3), which are mutually placed in a V-shaped posture, through the slab to make cutting tips (10) of the blades (3) meet at the bottom of the slab. A cutting knife (1), whose sides (16) face the mix and are disposed essentially parallel to the cutting blades (3), is driven through the slab, between the cutting blades (3), towards the cutting tips (10) of the blades (3).Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1988Date of Patent: May 8, 1990Assignee: Parma OyInventor: Hannu Tomminen

Patent number: 4884484Abstract: Strip retainer and stripper which is used on a stamping and forming machine for stripping or removing the stock material from the pilot pins and punches when the punches and pilot pins move from their closed positions to their open positions, comprises one or more wires in the operating zone of the machine. Each wire extends transversely across, and intersects, the path of reciprocation of the punch assmebly. The wire does not intersect the path of reciprocation of the pilot pins or the punches and is located between the punches and pilot pins and the surface of the stock material. The ends of the wires extend beyond the path or reciprocation of the punch assembly and are secured by fixed securing devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1988Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventors: Johannes C. Patent number: 4057087Abstract: An apparatus includes a pair of corrugated blades, each defining parallel elongated ridges running from the cutting edges thereof substantially the full length thereof. The apparatus may be positioned so that the cutting edges of the blades may be brought into contact with a tree on either side of the tree.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1976Date of Patent: November 8, 1977Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Dorrance Oldenburg
