For Rotary Tool Patents (Class 83/698.41)
  • Patent number: 11856885
Abstract: A blade assembly for cutting vegetative material includes a rotatable body and a number of inertially deployable blades hingedly affixed to the rotatable body. Each blade is rotatable between a first retracted position and a second extended position, and each blade cooperates with the body to form a capture mechanism preventing detachment of the blade from the body in the event the hinged affixation of the blade fails. The body includes a guide plate positioned between a top cover and a bottom cover. The covers provide hinge points for the blades at desired locations relative to the guide plate. The guide plate may include fixed blades, and blade stops may be implemented to retain each blade in the first retracted position or in a position intermediate the first retracted position and the second extended position.

  • Patent number: 9057958
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a printing form from a photosensitive element to form a relief pattern. The method and apparatus thermally develop the photosensitive element by heating a composition layer of the element to cause a portion of the layer to liquefy and providing a development medium to the element to remove the liquefied composition. A conformable layer is disposed between the photosensitive element and a base support, which improves the compressibility and the contact between the photosensitive element and the development medium. The method and apparatus improve the efficiency of the removal of liquefied portions from the photosensitive element and the uniformity of the relief pattern formed.

Abstract: A quick-change system for blades of a meat trimmer, which is used as a cutting tool in the stripping or cutting of meat and the like, includes a handle with a connecting housing to which a ring-like blade holder is attached. A ring-like blade is held inside the blade holder and rotated by a driving gear. The connecting housing has arm-like projections on both sides, on which the blade holder is mounted and has a separation point between the projections. The ring-like blade holder is fixed to a projection in an operating position by the head of a releasable bolt. When the bolt is loosened, the blade holder is bent open from an operating position to a blade change position in which the ring-like blade can be changed without tools in a very short time, without the necessity of readjusting the blade holder after its return to the operating position.

Abstract: A head section for a rotary cutting device includes a body portion that includes a blade passage defined between a blade entrance opening and a blade exit opening. A blade fastening mechanism is positioned in the blade passage and includes a blade engaging member. The blade engaging member is biased by a biasing mechanism to extend across the blade passage at a blade install position. The blade engaging member is movable against the bias to clear the blade passage. A blade having a mount aperture proximate an insertion end thereof is secured to the body portion when the mount aperture occupies the blade mount position and the blade engaging member extends through the mount aperture. The blade can be installed in and removed from the head section without tools, simply by advancing the blade through the blade passage.

  • Patent number: 8015904
Abstract: The present invention provides a die holder with one or more pre-located recessed areas or voids into which cutting dies can be quickly and easily inserted and secured. The die holder mounts quickly to the cylinder, and can be quickly removed for alternative operations. The die holder can be made according to the operator needs for different types, sizes and positions of dies. Unused voids can be filled with ‘blank’ blocks to achieve a consistent or uniform surface height for the full 360 degree area of the die cylinder. The present invention further provides a removable scrap control apparatus that is not attached permanently to the die cylinder on which it is used, which permits the use of a multiple blade die or a plurality of single blade dies on the same die cylinder without requiring permanent holes, slots or other means to accommodate the scrap control apparatus on the die cylinder or anvil cylinder.
