At least one blade actuator is disposed between the blade and the frame to drive the blade back and forth between retracted and extended positions. First and second arms are pivotably connected to the frame and moveable between disengaged and engaged positions. An arm actuator is associated with each arm and drives each arm between the disengaged and engaged positions. A segmented collar engages the entire circumference of the columnar item being cut. The blade is supported by the frame and the arms during the cutting process while the collar supports the material of the columnar item adjacent the cut.

    Abstract: A work surface guide for portable hand-operated power tools allows their adaptation to a fixed-bed form (for example, a circular saw may be used as a radial arm saw or sliding miter saw). A pair of parallel rails are spaced laterally outwardly and above a table or other work surface so that the power tool may slide along these rails to cut matter located in a cutting area situated below and beneath the rails (and protruding from the edge of the work surface beneath the rails). A board fence is pivotally attached to one of the rails to extend onto the work surface, thereby allowing the board fence to be adjusted to some desired angle, a board to be situated against the board fence to protrude beneath the rails and into the cutting area, and the power tool to be run along the rails to cut the board.

    Abstract: An apparatus for cutting wooden piles underwater and a method of use are disclosed. The apparatus has a frame and brace configured for engaging a pile. A pressure medium activated cutting device is connected to the frame and oriented at an angle such that a pile can be cut at a point below the bottom surface. The frame and brace are placed on opposite sides of the pile and connected to each other with a chain or cable. The apparatus has lines attached thereto and the other ends of the lines are attached to a boat or other flotation device. Using the disclosed apparatus to remove pilings causes significantly less turbidity than devices or methods currently available. Additionally, using the disclosed device also eliminates the need to decontaminate silt removed from the water using the currently available methods or devices.

    Abstract: A cutting tool for removing material from a workpiece wherein the cutting tool is held in a pocket of a tool holder.     Abstract: The present invention comprises additional embodiments in a circular saw aligning device which is not only easily releaseable but also entirely removeable from functioning engagement with either a specially made or prior art portable circular saw. An abutting assembly of the device rotates from an engaging position to a non-engaging position so the saw can be used without interference.     Abstract: A portable saw guide and T-square and method of use where an accurate and straight saw cut is desirable. The T-square saw guide has an alignment arm and a flexible guide arm which can be quickly and accurately secured to a work piece such as a sheet of plywood by a clamping mechanism in order that a worker may use a guide edge of the T-square to accurately maneuver and guide a saw along a desired course despite variations in the surface of the work piece. The guide arm forms a flush linear contact between a surface of the workpiece and the saw guide to compensate for any non planar irregularities such as a bow, sag or warp in the work piece to cause continuous contact between the saw being guided along the guide edge of the T-square to produce a straight cut along the work piece.
