  • Patent number: 11771019
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for vertically felling trees by taking apart the trunk in a stepwise manner combining sagittal and horizontal cross-sections. A vertical frame is attachable to a tree trunk, the vertical frame having a movable portion and a fixed portion. A first cutting device is attachable to the vertical frame and configured to cut the tree sagittally substantially along a longitudinal axis of the tree. A second cutting device is attachable to the vertical frame and configured to cut the tree horizontally from an exterior of the tree to a sagittal cut made in the tree by the first cutting device. A locking mechanism releasably locks the movable portion of the frame to the fixed portion of the frame. The apparatus uses the weight of the upper trunk to maintain stability to steadily decrease the tree height until the entire tree is removed.

  • Patent number: 9114546
Abstract: A cutting guide assembly facilitates straight and circular cuts using a power cutting tool. The assembly includes a saddle and a tape measure coupled to the saddle. The tape measure has a tape extendable from the saddle. A tab is coupled to and extends from a distal end of the tape. A guide member is coupled to the saddle and has a guide flange alignable with a proximal end of the tape relative to the saddle. Thus, a distance between the distal end of the tape and the guide flange of the guide member is measured by the measuring tape. A tool attachment is coupled to a cutting tool. A slot is positioned in the tool attachment and aligned with a cutting blade of the cutting tool. The slot receives the tab.

  • Patent number: 7913395
Abstract: The invention as presently conceived discloses a plumbing pipe cutter with an integral means of directing away residual water after a pipe is cut. The device comprises a conventional, low profile pipe cutter that is commonly used to cut copper water supply lines. Other cutters designed for polyvinylchloride (PVC) or other types of piping can likewise be adapted. The apparatus is further comprised of a transparent shield around the entire perimeter of the cutter and extending onto either pipe. At one end of the shield, approximately 8-10 inches from the cutter, the transparent material is flexibly gathered and routed to a short section of PVC tubing. The distal end of the tubing has a hose connector onto which a standard hose would be attached. When the apparatus is fully installed, residual water in cut pipes is collected and directed away without harming the surrounding areas.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a tool that is useful for purging pressurized canisters of their contents such as for preparing such canisters for post-processing, e.g., recycling. The tool comprises a tool body and a canister interface with a joint that permits the tool body to rotate about the canister interface. The tool can also comprise a marking implement that is secured to the tool body, and which implement is configured to mark the surface of the canister such as to mark the surface when the canister is depleted of its contents. In one example, the marking implement comprises a marking point shaped and constructed so as to puncture the surface of the canister in a manner that exposes the interior of the canister to the environment.

  • Patent number: 7757592
Abstract: Operating a power saw between a pair of parallel guide rails, which engage opposing sides of saw base plate to constrain the motion of the saw to a straight path, allows for precise cuts. A set of two or more fences allows for multiple cutting options. In some embodiments, non-parallel fences coupled to the guide rails allow for precise cuts at more than just a single angle. In some embodiments, two fences may engage opposing sides of the object to be cut simultaneously, holding the object more securely with respect to the guide rails than would a single fence. A possible clamping force holding the two fences against the object allows the miter guide to remain fixed relative to the object so that the user's hand may be freed for another task, such as holding the saw with both hands.
