Arcuately Movable Patents (Class 83/842)
  • Patent number: 10442005
Abstract: A workpiece applied for use with a cutting machine comprises a first outer surface, a second outer surface and a third outer surface. The third outer surface intersects the first outer surface and the second outer surface to define an extrusion-acting portion having an extruding portion. The workpiece can be used to form a cutter or a trimmed portion thereof. Accordingly, rapid production of cutters by molding machines can be realized, and blades of the molding machine for machining a produced cutter become readily replaceable. While a blade portion is machining, the extrusion-acting portion is applied to support and guide the workpiece, such that the surface machined by the blade portion can be extruded and polished simultaneously. Thus, machining qualities of the cutter, including finish, straightness and roundness, manufactured by applying the workpiece for the molding machine can be significantly improved.

  • Patent number: 7836808
Abstract: Safety chain and rotatable devices, used on saws or other machines for cutting or abrading material, include a plurality of holding members on which replaceable teeth are retained. Safety lobes prevent the teeth from being dislodged during operation of the saw. The safety lobes may be disposed on a link located in front of the holding member or disposed on a link located in back of the holding member, or both. The teeth can include sharp edges adapted for cutting various materials including wood, plastic and metal and can be formed with abrasive surfaces for abrading materials including brick and concrete. The teeth are quickly removable from the saw without the need for fasteners. While the teeth may be retained by engagement between the teeth and holding member, the chain and rotatable devices may retain the teeth on the holding members using only the safety lobes or safety surfaces. The rotational device can include two blades each including holding members and safety lobes.

  • Patent number: 6769343
Abstract: A saw blade for a tree felling head has three tipped teeth in which only one tip of each tooth is exposed outside of the blade disc. Around the circumference of the blade, teeth with tips exposed on the upper side of the blade alternate with teeth having tips exposed on the lower side of the blade. Axes of the teeth are tangent to radii of the disc and angled upwardly or downwardly relative to the plane of the disc, and mating surfaces on the teeth and disc at 45° to the plane of the disc abut against rotation and loading of the teeth.

  • Patent number: 6173637
Abstract: A tool for cutting a predetermined molding pattern into a work piece as it is longitudinally advanced. A molding head is adapted to be mounted to the output shaft of a motor. The head is generally-circular and includes at least one arcuate cutout in its peripheral edge for receiving a generally-circular cutter unit. The arcuate cutout is greater than semicircular so that the center of the unit lies within the peripheral edge and is therby protected from radial travel. A bayonet-type fixture and an alognment screw are provided for engaging the cutter unit to the molding head whereby multiple devices protect the operator from violent disengagement of the cutter unit from the head during high speed cutting.

  • Patent number: 5644965
Abstract: A saw tooth for a circular saw for a feller including, in one embodiment, a square saw tooth head having a frusto-pyramidal shape to be mounted on a holder, and the saw tooth head includes seats for receiving inserts. The inserts are provided with cutting tips and cutting edges while a clamp nut retains the inserts against the tooth head. When the edges and tips are worn or damaged from impact, the inserts are first replaced. When the seat of the head is damaged, the tooth can be rotated.

  • Patent number: 4947721
Abstract: A circular saw blade in which tooth assemblies are pivotally mounted along the periphery of the disc spaced apart at equal angular distances. Each tooth assembly has a U-shaped tooth wedging member pivotally mounted on the disc. The tooth is secured between the disc and the wedging member. Pivotal movement of the tooth wedging member in one direction wedges the tooth between the disc and the tooth wedging member. Pivotal movement of the tootrh wedging member in an opposite direction releases the tooth from the wedging action between the disc and the wedging member. A cam locking member is rotatably mounted on the disc adjacent the wedging member. Rotation of the cam locking member in one direction locks the tooth wedging member in the tooth wedging mode. Rotation of the cam locking member in an opposite direction unlocks the tooth wedging member to enable the tooth to be released from the wedging action between the disc and the tooth wedging member.

  • Patent number: 4765217
Abstract: Wood-cutting apparatus with an insertable tooth in which the blade is positioned radially outwardly on a flat, elongated metallic plate and comprises two side edges, each of which: (a) extends generally radially (i.e parallel to a radius of the disc in which the tooth is inserted); and (b) is positioned ahead of the plate and other portions of the blade so that the side edges lead the tooth as the disc rotates in a predetermined rotational direction. The cutting edge of the blade extends along the most radially outward extent of a region of the blade connecting the two side edges, the connecting region being positioned rearwardly from those side edges in the rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 4667713
Abstract: The present invention is a knife assembly for a chipping canter or a mechanically similar device. In its basic form it comprises four parts: a knife holder, a knife, a knife retaining pull down block, and a tapered draw bolt to tighten the assembly. The knife holder is constructed to engage a conventional seat in a chipper head segment. It has an arcuate front surface to receive the knife element. The knife element has a rib on its rear surface which has a dovetail or T-shaped flange. The pull down block is similarly configured with a female dovetail or T-slot to grasp the rib flange on the back of the knife holder. A tapered bolt is threaded into the knife holder and passes through a similarly tapered hole in the pull down block. As the bolt is screwed into the knife holder, the pull down block and encompassed knife element are drawn to the rear where they are tightly frictionally held against the knife holder.

  • Patent number: 4628976
Abstract: A blade for use in shapers, planers, and the like for the shaping and surface finishing of wood. In contrast to prior art blade shapes wherein a sharpened cutting edge is scraped across the wood resulting in rapid wear of and damage to the blade, the present blade provides a cutting edge which enters the surface of the wood in a shallow chisel-like cutting action. The force on the point is along a line with maximum material behind it to prevent most damage to the cutting. The heel portion of the blade can provide a burnishing action on the surface of the wood so as to eliminate irregularities while, at the same time, resisting any frictional burning of the wood's surface.

  • Patent number: 4257302
Abstract: A saw tool, especially a circular saw blade, an endless saw blade, a mill saw blade or the like, with a blade-shaped tool body having detachably connected thereto at least one cutting member with a clamping element between two tensioning surfaces of the tool body. The saw tool is characterized primarily in that for purposes of obtaining the full tensioning and engaging effect of the cutting member and clamping element during a change in position of the clamping and engaging surfaces caused by the clamping deformation, the clamping element includes floating bearing means. The clamping element is an eccentric peripherally having a smaller radius of curvature than corresponding inner surfacing of a recess of an intermediate piece therewith. The intermediate piece for pivotal support at the eccentric is located with play in the recess of the tool body.
