  • Patent number: 7827854
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to methods and kits for measuring and analyzing degradation of adsorbent materials, particularly for adsorbent materials used in gas separation processes. The present invention can assess the damage to adsorbent due to moisture contamination and it can assess damage that is not moisture-related. The advantage to the present invention is that it can detect degradation of adsorbent before the degradation affects production. Another advantage is that it can conclusively determine whether the sieve is damaged. Because it is so inexpensive to run, the test of the present invention can be conducted to determine adsorbent damage and to confirm whether the damage continues to be an issue. The present invention can test adsorbents in any form, including, but not limited to, bead, pellet or powder form.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for transmitting information between a device within a housing to a second device, preferably a test or monitoring unit, outside of the housing. There are numerous issues associated with transferring information from within a sealed housing to an external device. In some cases, the use of wires inside the housing may be impractical, due to internal conditions, such as fluid flow, pressure or temperature. In one embodiment, the antenna of the external RF reading device is electrically connected to the dome of the housing. In another embodiment, the device within the housing is electrically connected to a housing component. In another embodiment, the gasket is used to pass information from within the housing to an external device.

  • Patent number: 7799115
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing high purity materials are disclosed. A unit operation processes a material stream, an operational parameter of the unit operation is monitored, and a standby unit is charged with pressurized gas to achieve system pressure. The material stream is diverted to the standby unit in response to the operational parameter of the unit operation registering a threshold value. Flow exiting the standby unit is first vented via an outlet, and then directed toward a point of use after the pressurized gas has been purged. The unit operation may then be serviced and subsequently brought back online. A second unit operation may process a second material stream simultaneously, and the second material stream may be periodically diverted to the standby unit in like manner, thus reducing line pressure variation. The disclosed method may be performed manually or implemented automatically through use of a controller.

  • Patent number: 7794528
Abstract: An exhaust gas cleaning device estimates a deposition amount of exhaust particulate matters in a collector based on deposition characteristics correlating the deposition amount with a pressure loss at the collector. The deposition characteristics define a first range from an initial point, at which the deposition amount is zero, to a transitional point and a second range over the transitional point. The pressure loss increases more gradually in the second range than in the first range as the deposition amount increases. The exhaust gas cleaning device corrects the deposition characteristics such that the transitional point approaches the initial point, the pressure loss at the initial point increases and an increase ratio of the pressure loss to the increase of the deposition amount in the second range increases as an ash deposition amount increases.

  • Patent number: 7699989
Abstract: The present invention describes a system and method for supplying electrical power to a device, such as a filter element, located within a housing. In one embodiment, a conductive coil is embedded into the housing base, and a second coil is embedded into the filter element. Current is then passed through the coil in the housing base. Through induction, a current is created in the second coil in the filter element, in much the same way as a transformer functions. This inductive field may interfere with the operation of the various electronic functions, such as communications, sensing or other activities. To overcome this issue, an energy storage component, such as a capacitor, is included in the filter electronics. In this way, the power generated by the inductive field can be stored, and used when the inductive field is no longer present.

Abstract: A carrier gas recycling system is designed according to the procedures in which a carrier gas passes through a reactor, such as a fluidized bed reactor, so as to purify and recycle gas generated in the reaction to substitute for the carrier gas externally applied to the reactor. The carrier gas recycling system includes an oil-water separation chamber to separate and purify carrier gas, and a liquid-sealed constant pressure tank to reduce carrier gas pressure fluctuation and expel extra reaction-generated gas. The carrier gas recycling system also controls the carrier gas flow by controlling the rotating speed of a blower for transferring the carrier gas, and utilizes a heat supply device used in the reaction process to preheat the carrier gas.

Abstract: A system for periodically or continuously monitoring the condition of a filter includes a filter having a peripheral frame and a flexible interior filtering region, a fixed support structure for receiving the filter and maintaining the perimeter of the filter frame in a generally fixed position while allowing the interior filtering region to flex in response to flow through the filter, and a force measuring device mounted on the downstream side of the filter adjacent the interior filtering region in a fixed position relative to the supporting structure, whereby as the interior filtering region flexes in response to flow through the filter, the interior filtering region exerts a force on the force measuring device that increases with the degree of clogging of the filter. A method of monitoring the condition of a filter is also disclosed.

Abstract: A monitoring port assembly for a fluid treatment system, such as for use in an ultra-violet water treatment system. The port assembly comprises a sensor port cup having a port for access to an interior of the fluid treatment vessel. The port is offset from the central axis of the sensor port cup. A cylindrical body, having an offset through-hole to receive a sensor assembly, is disposed within the sensor port cup for rotational movement about the central longitudinal axis between an operational position where the offset through-hole is aligned and coincident with the port, and a servicing position where the offset through-hole is displaced relative to the port. Sensors can be safely and conveniently removed from or installed into a port in the fluid treatment vessel by rotating the cylindrical body from the servicing to the operational position.
