Publication number: 20220142031Abstract: A novel variety of the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis (syn. H. lacustris), named ‘KAS1601-WG7’ is primarily characterized by a yellow and motile cell body during propagation transitioning to a red and motile cell body under pigment accumulation conditions. The cells contain negligible chlorophyll. It has fast growth under heterotrophic cultivation for ease of propagation and shows high carotenogenesis under dark heterotrophic cultivation. The highly pigmented non-encysted cells are attractive for ease of extraction and for high digestibility, including as whole cells, to release a mixture of oils, proteins, pigments, and other components desirable for use in food, feeds, cosmetics and dietary supplements, and excellent storage as biomass.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2020Publication date: May 5, 2022Inventor: Robert J. Schurr

Patent number: 9386755Abstract: Turfgrass varieties with desirable looking turf when mowed infrequently are provided. Also provided is a method of producing a turfgrass plant having desirable looking turf when mowed infrequently. The turfgrass plants of the present invention display green leaf chlorophyll concentrations above 1.8 mg/g and a field insitu CM-1000 chlorophyll meter reading of 341.7 or higher, as well as high general turfgrass quality ratings. The turfgrass plants of the present invention retain a dark green color even when scalped back by infrequent mowing.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2014Date of Patent: July 12, 2016Assignee: J.R. SIMPLOT COMPANYInventor: Andrew Douglas Brede

Patent number: 8464650Abstract: The present invention is directed to turf grass seed mixtures for a low maintenance lawns and uses thereof. The lawn established from the specific seed varieties blended in certain proportions as described in the disclosure has a slow growth rate and deep roots and grows well in many regions across North America and elsewhere in the world. Because the lawn requires little watering or fertilizer and is hardy and naturally insect-tolerant, it is safe and environmentally friendly.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2010Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Pearl's Premium, Inc.Inventor: B. Jackson Madnick
