Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for textile machine spinning roller spindles removes deposits of old glue and debris from the outer ends of the spindles once the old cots have been removed and prior to glueing new cots in place for reuse of the spinning rollers. The apparatus provides a drive motor for powering a pair of wire cleaning brushes, tiltable apparatus for holding the spindles to be cleaned while engaged with the brushes, means for driving the spindles to be cleaned in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the wire brushes, means for ejecting the cleaned spindles from the holding apparatus and catching means for the cleaned spindles.
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydropneumatic accumulator in which a bladder or membrane supported within a vessel establishes a chamber for confining a compressible fluid within the vessel and also provides means for supporting a valve plate opposite inlet and outlet ports arranged so that as the valve plate position responds to pressure changes normal flow between the ports may be maintained and extruding of the bladder or diaphragm into the outlet port prevented.
Abstract: A lightweight portable concrete screed utilizes an elongated open frame supported on opposed forms and adapted to screed an entire width of concrete formed road and simultaneously form associated curbing on both sides of the road.
Abstract: An improved construction for a horizontally installed drywall board incorporates widthwise extending tear-off strips on the back side of each butt end. When the butt ends of two boards are mated for nailing to a stud, the strips are removed which allows the butt ends to bend at the join line to form a depression for receiving the finishing joint cement. A pair of relatively short lengthwise extending tapered tear strips are also provided on opposite corners adjacent one edge of the board and which are also removed to facilitate continuation of the depression along the join line when the board edges are nailed to a stud plate adjacent the ceiling or floor of the room being covered by the wallboard. An alternative embodiment utilizes a tapered construction on the butt ends on the back face of the board and a convention tapered construction on the outer face of the board along its long edges.
Abstract: A lightweight, portable, vibrating-type concrete screed utilizes an elongated, open frame structure, is adapted to being winched automatically to screed a concrete-formed road and simultaneously form and smooth associated curbing and guttering with improved vibrator and smoothing means.
Abstract: A method and device for magnetically transporting finely divided magnetic particles accumulated or deposited at a space. First a DC magnetic field is exerted to the finely divided magnetic particles so as to magnetize and bring them into an easy-to-be-handled state and then revolving alternating fields are exerted to the magnetized, finely divided magnetic particles, thereby magnetically transporting them.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for measuring unit or remnant lengths of material, calculating the price and developing related sales information adapts to use in a system wherein the measuring and related data entry operations are performed at a plurality of terminals connected to a central computer. Each terminal employs a measuring roller and associated optical-electronic measuring and data processing circuitry. The measuring roller moves bi-directionally to increment or decrement the measure and is adapted for being repositioned to a precise home position at the commencement of each measuring operation. Electronic "noise" encountered with prior art optical-electronic length measuring and price computation apparatus has been substantially eliminated and operation improved by use of visual and audio cues for the operator.
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for separating gas bubbles from a liquid incorporates a spiral liquid passage with inlet and outlet ends as defined by a top plate, a bottom plate and a strip spirally coiled between the plates and otherwise constructed so that by utilizing the low specific gravity of the bubbles and centrifugal force acting thereon, the bubbles are directed into a bubble trapping compartment for removal.
Abstract: A turbine casing for turbochargers adapted for use with reciprocating internal combustion engines, in which in response to the flow rate of the exhaust gases from an engine, the exhaust gases are directed to flow through a first or radially inward scroll divided into two or more exhaust gas passages in the axial direction of a turbine wheel or through said first or radially inward scroll and a second or radially outward scroll, whereby regardless of the variations in flow rate an optimum supercharging efficiency can be maintained over the whole region of operating conditions of the engine.
Abstract: An oil seal system for the shaft of a turbocharger has an oil-trapping chamber formed by an oil thrower, thrust metal, and seals arranged so as to prevent the leakage of the lubricant into the blower.
Abstract: A fluid operated motor utilizes one or more flexible rectangular sails and associated supporting frames, sail guides and drive apparatus enabling each of the sails to cyclically fold and unfold, drive the sail supporting frames and provide a source of power when placed in a moving stream of fluid such as in a wind stream, river or gas stack.
Abstract: An improved concrete troweling blade rotor assembly of the type in which the blades rotate unidirectionally and do not tilt around the blade support axis is provided with means enabling the blade support arms to be independently adjusted with respect to an inner, transverse, horizontal axis passing through each support arm to compensate for machine wear.
Abstract: A lightweight and portable screen mounts a gasoline engine which drives a vibrating shaft and is adapted with handles for being used in "wet" or "mud" screeding without requiring forms as guide supports.
Abstract: A push-on type lumber stacker utilizes a pivotal conveyor for receiving boards from a bulk supply and discharging complete courses of boards onto a lumber stack. The discharge end of the conveyor pivots upwardly in correspondence with the increasing height of the stack. The pivotal conveyor incorporates a plurality of automatically actuated stick holders which hold the stacking sticks as runners during formation of each course and then release the sticks to serve as course spacers in the stack. A plurality of chain-mounted discs on the conveyor assist in pushing the boards onto the stacking sticks and, in conjunction with other auxiliary apparatus, enable one course of boards to be built up on the conveyor while another course is held ready for discharge.
Abstract: An improved bypass inhibitor attached to but not constituting part of the laser bore assembly of a ceramic gas laser tube having main and gas bypass bores comprises a ceramic disc, one side of which is both metal bonded to the tube and formed with metal surface channels to reduce bypass gas ignition without significantly inhibiting bypass gas passage therethrough.
Abstract: A fuel gas burner produces a short fan-shaped flame and has primary utility in oil-to-gas furnace conversions. The burner includes swirl generating blades disposed in an annulus between a burner barrel carrying the bulk of the combustion gas and a mixing tube carrying approximately a 1.1 air/gas mixture. The blades induce a violent, turbulent action to the combustion gas to encourage formation of the short flame. The flame is preferably formed with a fan shape.
Abstract: A mounting structure secures to a selected portion of the human body, e.g., the head, a limb, or the torso, and incorporates light source and light detecting means adapted for association with spectrophotometric circuitry for in situ, in vivo monitoring of local metabolism in the area of the body where the structure is secured.

Abstract: A winding machine for winding a strip in which a plurality of wrapper rolls disposed around a mandrel are adapted to be retracted away from the mandrel whenever the stepped portion of the strip passes them in response to the control signal generated at the time when the stepped portion passes each wrapper roll, the time being calculated automatically from the time when the stepped portion passes a specified wrapper roll.
Abstract: A laser tube made of electrically insulating ceramic material, e.g., BeO, is formed of dry pressed and fired segments brazed together and with a chamfer or stepped area at the end of each segment adapted to interrupt the bore so as to prevent the establishment of a continuous electrically conducting layer in the tube bore.
