Abstract: A method of communicating count value information in an Optical Transport Network (OTN) signal frame. The method comprises determining a count value indicating a number of payload bytes to be sent in a next OTN signal frame; determining that a change in the count value (?) with respect to a current count value is within a predetermined range; selecting an inversion pattern indicating the change in the count value; determining a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) code associated with the inversion pattern; and, inserting the inversion pattern and the CRC code in a Generic Mapping Procedure (GMP) overhead of the OTN signal frame.
Abstract: A method and system are provided for controlling SAS/SATA disk spin up when a disk enters an inactive mode, such as standby mode, in a near line storage system. A routing table entry is modified for a selected hard disk drive in an expander routing table to redirect and reroute to a spinup control virtual target any access requests intended for the selected hard disk drive, in response to the selected hard disk drive being in standby mode. In response to the selected hard disk drive exiting standby mode, the routing table entry is modified to direct and route requests for access to the selected hard disk drive back to the drive itself. A SAS expander device can control spin up for standby disk drives in a disk array. Alternatively, spin up control can be performed for disks in other power modes, such as idle, in a disk array.
Abstract: An independently powered tractor snow blower that is capable of being front mounted to the tractor and has an independent power source. The snow blower is capable of being easily connected and removed to the front of the tractor, and provides compact, stable, and versatile operation when in use.
Abstract: A method for proximity-aware circuit design where a set of layout constraint values that satisfy predetermined performance or yield goals is determined in accordance with a layout effect model. One of the layout constraint values is then selected as a constraint input to layout design, and a design layout is performed with the selected layout constraint value to provide a semiconductor circuit design for the semiconductor circuit. The set of layout constraint values can be determined by varying an instance parameter of the layout effect model to determine a set of instance parameters that satisfy the at least one predetermined performance or yield goal in accordance with the layout effect model, and determining layout constraints associated with each instance parameter of the set of instance parameters, thus providing a number of candidates in a design space that can be evaluated according to performance and/or yield tradeoffs.

Abstract: A DMA engine is provided that is suitable for higher performance System On a Chip (SOC) devices that have multiple concurrent on-chip/off-chip memory spaces. The DMA engine operates either on logical addressing method or physical addressing method and provides random and sequential mapping function from logical address to physical address while supporting frequent context switching among a large number of logical address spaces. Embodiments of the present invention utilize per direction (source-destination) queuing and an internal switch to support non-blocking concurrent transfer of data on multiple directions. A caching technique can be incorporated to reduce the overhead of address translation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for identification of emergency conditions present at a given geographic location of an Internet Protocol (IP) based device and the subsequent appropriate alerting of an Emergency Services Notification (ESN) telephone number. The method and apparatus serve to monitor an IP packet flow from an IP telephony device and sense a datagram within the packet flow corresponding to an ESN dialing sequence. Upon sensing the ESN dialing sequence, the normal call packet flow is interrupted while IP-based call set-up information is returned as though a normal IP-based call were placed. An ESN call server is then alerted of the ESN dialing sequence and functions to forward the IP packet flow to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) appropriate to the IP telephony device along with location information corresponding to a civic address at which the IP telephony device is located.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling secure access and storage of at least two different types of articles is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plurality of compartments for articles, the compartments arranged in a rotatable cylindrical array with one opening for each compartment on the surface of the cylinder. A linearly driven belt having an access port thereon limits access to a single compartment. The compartments may be of equal or different size to accept different articles. A sliding door, positionable over an opening in the housing, provides additional security. A drawer with additional compartments may be included in the apparatus in addition to the cylindrical array. Certain compartments may have an assignment linking them to other compartments in the cylindrical array or drawer, allowing for the secure and separate storage of sets of related articles, such as the keys, registration and/or license plate of a car.
Abstract: Flexible enclosure comprising a working strip 2 and sidewalls 3, defining an envelope, and a sealing membrane 11 at least partially lining the envelope. The sealing membrane 11 is comprised of an elastic material 14 and a perforation-resistant reinforcement 15, the sealing membrane 11 being free with regard to the working strip 2 and attached to an opposite edge remote to the working strip 2.
