  • Patent number: 6152022
Abstract: A modular burner mounting assembly for a deep fat flyer is described. A vertical plate is used to support each burner with a fuel-air mixture being admitted at one end, and a flame disposed at an opposite end, the flame being dimensioned to register on its respective heat tube so products of combustion are admitted to the heat tube at one end, travel through the tube heating an oil bath surrounding the tube and exits through the flue. A single pilot is integrally mounted on the mounting plate between a pair of centrally located burners so that the pilot simultaneously ignites the fuel-air mixture exiting from each burner. Carry over brackets are provided between the burners ignited by the pilot and adjacent burners so that the flame of one burner passes directly to a fuel-air mixture exiting an adjacent burner to ignite the same. In this way a single pilot can be used to ignite two, four, or even five burners or more as required.

  • Patent number: 6118794
Abstract: Digital signal processing apparatus for frequency demultiplexing a wide band channel which converts the data stream into parallel branches by means of serial-to-parallel conversion, and demultiplexing which consists of low pass and high pass fine filtering stages and a coarse filtering stage split among processors across parallel branches. Wideband signals arc processed without expensive processors because of the slower rate in the parallel channels. This may also be used for the inverse function of multiplexing.

  • Patent number: 6095037
Abstract: An improved efficient deep fat fryer is described. Heat exchange within the fryer tank is facilitated by a "U" shaped burner tube which is cantilever mounted from a side of the tank and a burner system is provided to circulate in a spiral pathway products of combustion through the burner tube. An internal turbulator baffle is provided to both facilitate the spiral circulation through the tube and to facilitate heat transfer from the combustion gases to burner tube walls. Exhaust gases are circulated downwardly from the burner tubes to a plenum beneath the tank which also has heat transfer baffle plates to facilitate heat exchange. Ultimately the products are expelled through a flue. The system further comprises filter bags for continuously filtering the oil which are disposed in a sump at the surface of the oil so that oil continually spills from the tank into the sump where it is filtered preferably by one or more bags of cloth material.

  • Patent number: 6049174
Abstract: A device suitable for switching large currents includes, within a gas filled envelope, an anode, electrodes and a thermionic cathode. Initially the device holds off a voltage until a triggering pulse is applied to an electrode. This cause an electron current to be established between the thermionic cathode and the anode. When the current reaches a sufficiently large value further conduction through the device occurs via current drawn from the surface of the electrode in a cold cathode mode, bypassing the cathode.

  • Patent number: 6046668
Abstract: An interrogator circuit (2) for use with a semi-passive transponder (30) of a type which reflectively modulates an incoming signal (28) is described. The circuit (2) comprises an antenna (4), a transistor (8), a matching network (6) connecting to the antenna (4) to an input of the transistor and means (12, 14) for operating the transistor such that it self-oscillates and radiates power (28) from the antenna (4) and simultaneously acts as a self-oscillating mixer to produce an output (40) which is representative of the modulation of a signal 32 received at the antenna. For an efficient conversion gain the reflection coefficient of the antenna (4) is configured to be low when the circuit is in a stable self-oscillating condition.

  • Patent number: 6024367
Abstract: An eccentric device of a gear set of a bicycle is described. The device includes a braking disk, a transmission gears set, an eccentric shaft set and a hub assembly. The eccentric shaft set is disposed within the hub assembly and can be rotated with respect to the hub assembly. When the eccentric shaft is located at the center of the hub assembly the hub assembly can be readily rotated by the flywheel. When the braking disk is braked, the eccentric shafts set can be rotated with respect to the hub assembly through the transmission gears set. The shifting effect is thereby attained. The shifting displacement can be readily controlled by the braking time of the braking disk. When the braking disk is released the hub assembly can be readily rotated as centered on the eccentric shafts. The rear wheel will be oscillated upward and downward when it is rotated.
