  • Patent number: 6016192
Abstract: An external calibration system for a photo multiplier tube is described. The calibration system uses a light emitting diode and a photo cell wherein the diode is domed shaped. The light sensitive face of the photo multiplier tube is contained in the plane disposed at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the light emitting diode, and the photo cell is mounted substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A source of electrical energy then illuminates the light emitting diode over a range from, for example, 0 to 5 volts to generate light of known intensity and the light being generated is simultaneously measured by the photo cell and the light sensitive face of the photo multiplier tube. A feedback circuit is provided and associated circuitry so that a number of readings can be taken over a wide variety of light intensities to generate a calibration for the photo multiplier tube.

  • Patent number: 5988154
Abstract: An improvement for a combination steamer and convection oven is described. The improvement includes double access doors in the front of the oven for controlling access to the cooking cavity within. The doors are cam actuated between a closed position, a first open position wherein the doors are cracked to release hot gases from within the cavity and a second open position wherein the doors are fully open. The admission of steam to the cavity is controlled by a positive displacement flapper valve and one or a pair of the ovens can be used, and if a pair is used a single steamer provides steam for either or both cooking cavities.

  • Patent number: 5975400
Abstract: A follow block structure of a magazine for stapling guns adapted for use in a fastener feed structure of a stapling gun, the magazine including a slide groove along which a follow block may slidably displace. The follow block includes a pull tab extending from one side thereof, a recess at a central portion thereof for mounting a slide element. The slide element is insertably fitted to the follow block to aid the follow block in slidable displacement along the slide groove to push fasteners forwardly. The slide element is made of engineering plastics so that there is a relatively small friction coefficient when it slides along the slide groove which is made of aluminum alloy. The slide element has good wear resistance and can ensure the smooth displacement of the follow block. Besides, the slide element can be easily and conveniently replaced when worn so that maintenance cost is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5975727
Abstract: A mounting bracket for mounting an exterior luminare on a support pole is described. The bracket is intended to be secured by compression fastening within the hollow upper end of the pole and to mount a support for individual luminares. The compression connection includes a lower compression plate, an intermediate cylindrical sleeve, and an upper compression plate which rests on the open top of the support pole. O-rings are disposed respectively between the lower plate and the sleeve and between the upper plate and the sleeve, and an axial rod is provided which extends through both plates and the sleeve so that the rod can be used to draw the plates together, and cause the O-rings to expand into a wedging relationship with the interior surface of the pole. The rod then in turn mounts an upper support for the luminare fixtures.

  • Patent number: 5973326
Abstract: A gas monitor includes an infra-red source enclosed within a housing having inner surfaces which are reflective. Radiation emitted from the source reflects off ellipsoidal surfaces and intermediate planar surfaces to be focussed at a sensor, being reflected five times. Radiation is absorbed by gas within the housing and a comparison of the source intensity and detected intensity gives a measure of the gas concentration. Use of ellipsoidal reflective surfaces directs emitted radiation along a plurality of routes having substantially the same path length, hence giving an accurate measure of the gas concentration with a compact device. In another embodiment, off axis parabolas are used to direct the radiation through the gas.

  • Patent number: 5951901
Abstract: A control system for steam production in a oven combination is described. The control is adapted for use with a single source of steam and a plurality of oven cavities wherein cooking is achieved by a combination of convection oven and steam heat or by steam alone. The control system activates steam production in response to a temperature requirement for a particular oven and opens a valve permitting the inflow of steam into that oven alone. The control system can also be used to admit steam simultaneously to all oven cavities if required.

  • Patent number: 5876598
Abstract: An improved modular system of solids separation is described. In the invention, a settling tank is provided which consists of one or more hoppers having sloped sides downwardly to a drain. Liquids with entrained solids are permitted to accumulate within the hopper as the solids settle until the settling has been completed; whereupon a pump lowered into the liquid is used to decant the liquid. The pump is suspended from a flexible conduit and is lowered as the liquid level lowers so that it remains submerged until the pump reaches a predetermined level above the level of the suspended solids. The sludge is removed from the hopper by gravity flow by opening a drain valve in the bottom therein and an anti-vortexing cap is provided over the drain. The cap has sides which conform to the hopper vessels but slope in the opposite direction so that the lower edge of the cap side is a predetermined distance from the hopper side adjacent the drain.

  • Patent number: 5872428
Abstract: An actuator for rotation of coupling means such as a loop in a high frequency resonant cavity includes a rotatable member to which the loop is fixed and a rod located adjacent it. The member and rod have interengaging teeth such that when the rod is moved inwardly or outwardly by an operator it causes the member, and hence the loop, to rotate. This is a compact assembly having components which are simple and easy to facilitate. In a preferred embodiment, the rod is located in a groove in the cavity wall.

  • Patent number: 5865562
Abstract: A device for mounting a wide variety of different window dressings is described. The device is intended to use conventional mounting brackets to mount the window dressing without the necessity of providing holes to mount the same in the face of the window molding or frame. The device includes either a comer or linear mounting plate which, respectively, may be used either on the right hand or left hand corner, or horizontally or vertically on the frame. Each plate is U-shaped in cross-section and intended to cover the sides and front of the window frame or molding. The front face of the plate is provided with a plurality of mutually spaced dimensioned cut-outs. The second clement of the invention is a universal clip which is a channel shaped member having integral projections extending from the back surface thereof. The projections are also mutually spaced and dimensioned to register on the cut-outs in the mounting plate and to be received therein to secure the clip to the mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 5845566
Abstract: A multi-slot closed type powerful garbage compression structure including a housing, an inner cylinder internally provided with guide plates and being inclined forwardly, and a push bar behind the inner cylinder. The housing is provided with four slots at a rear section adapted to receive garbage, and a garbage outlet at a front end, the outlet being provided with a slide plate, and a waste water receiving trough at a bottom side. When garbage is dumped into the housing via the slots, the push bar rotates to push the garbage into the inner cylinder which rotates to compress the garbage. When the garbage inside the inner cylinder is full, the push bar may prevent reverse flow of the garbage. By the use of both the push bar and the guide plates inside the inner cylinder, better compression effects are achievable to reduce garbage storage space and eliminate use of hydraulic cylinders and thrust devices.

  • Patent number: 5841221
Abstract: A collector for an electron beam tube includes a ceramic cylinder within which are located rings of a first material, such as copper, and rings of a second material, such as molybdenum, arranged alternately along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. The ratio of the axial lengths of the rings at the inner surface of the ceramic cylinder is selected so as to provide temperature compensation. The rings of one material surround part of adjacent rings of the other material to confine thermal expansion in a radial direction.
