Abstract: The invention relates to an air blast device comprising an air flow control device disposed between an inlet conduit and an outlet conduit. The control device comprises an evacuation valve (16) that controls the flow of the air contained in a rear chamber to the outlet conduit (5). The air contained in the rear chamber serves to hold a main valve (2A) in its seat (2B). This blast device is characterized in that a seat (17) of an evacuation valve is located at the level of a front face (2C) of the main valve (2). In order to evacuate air contained in the rear chamber, evacuation valve moves toward the front in the direction opposite that of the main valve (2A) as it leaves its seat (2B).

Abstract: A method of managing a personal event log specific to an operating activity exocuted on a multiple-cell computer platform comprises a step of recording the event in a common event log together with an identifier of the acrivity that is saving the event while an activity is saving an event; and prior to an activity consulting its personal event log, a step of reconstructing the personal event log from the common event log, said reconstruction step including an operation of selecting from the common event log only those events which are associated with the identifier of the activity in order to include those events in the personal event log reconstructed for said activity.

Abstract: The ventilated glasses system with a removable pad and detent includes an eyeglass frame and an inner frame with the pad. The first aperture and the second aperture are located on the nostril bridge support, where condensation tends to be the most prevalent. Air can flow from the exterior surface to the interior surface through the first aperture and the second aperture. Detents securely attach the inner frame to the eyeglass frame.

Abstract: A method for automatic updating of an access path to the system disk of a hardware perimeter of computer resources during launching of an operating activity on this perimeter includes during the installation of a new system disk, a step of saving the lower part of the access path to the new system disk in a list of access paths, on the occasion of the definition of the operating activity, a step of associating with this activity one of the lower parts stored in the list of access paths, and on the occasion of the launching of the activity on a perimeter, a step of automatic updating of the access path contained in the working memory of the perimeter as a function of the lower part of the access path associated with this activity during its definition. A system and memory for implementing the method are also discussed.

Abstract: A cleaning and polishing pad including densely packed fibrillated face yarns on one side and an opposite polishing side, which alternatively may be a resilient, textured surface, or an open-celled sponge. The pad is constructed of all synthetic materials using conventional carpet manufacturing techniques. Synthetic fibrillated face yarns are tufted into a primary back which may be a woven polypropylene product, scrim, sponge or other sheet material. The face yarns include yarns of at least two (2) deniers, tightly packed, to provide both a soft and hard bristle face with the yarns cooperating to produce a non-abrasive scrubbing pad. Optionally, a secondary synthetic substrate, such as, for example, a latex substrate, applied to the backside of the tufted product provides a secondary back and a means of locking the yarns into place in the primary backing. Either the secondary back or a separate polishing substrate adhered to the secondary back also forms a polishing or non-abrasive cleaning surface.

Abstract: An electrolytic cell for reducing a beryllium oxide in solid state, and a method for achieving this reduction, are provided. The electrolytic cell and method employ an anode, a cathode formed in part from beryllium oxide, and a molten electrolyte which includes cations of a metal that is capable of reducing beryllium oxide. The reduction process involves operating the cell at a potential that is above a potential at which the reducing cations in the electrolyte will deposit as a metal on the cathode.

Abstract: The invention relates to a protocol for exchanging data between applications of a portable multi-application object, such as a microprocessor or smart card. An internal communications interface is implanted in the nonvolatile memory of the smart card. Given a message sending command and message reception command, a source application attribute (E-ID) is assigned a) to an application, and a target application attribute (R-ID) is assigned b) to at least one other application. The exchange of information messages (MSG) c) is done between source and target applications by means of the communications interface used as an intermediary. The invention is applicable to the management of portable multi-application objects, such as processor cards, PCMCIA cards, or the like.

Abstract: A method of forming a coating of a polymer-based paint composition on a substrate is disclosed. The method is based on the use of pellets rather than solid blocks of the paint composition. The method includes pre-heating a substrate to a temperature that is above the glass transition temperature of the polymer of the paint composition and supplying pellets of the paint composition to the surface of the substrate, whereby the pellets progressively melt into a liquid state. Thereafter, the method includes forming a coating of the liquid paint composition on the substrate surface and converting the liquid coating into a solid coating of the paint composition.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for dynamically reconfiguring an information processing system (1), particularly a so-called “SMP” symmetric multiprocessor system. The process comprises a preliminary step for detecting a failure risk of one of the components of the system (CPU3). Following this detection, the system (1) is placed in a coherent, so-called “frozen” state in a first step with the aid of programs (J1-J4) executing specific tasks. A second step consists of reconfiguring the system by reallocating/de-allocating all or some of the components (CPU1-CPU4). In a third step, the component (CPU3) that presents a failure risk is isolated. The pending interruptions (4) are processed and the current tasks (6) are executed prior to the “freeze.” Likewise, the queues of tasks to be executed are purged prior to the “freeze.” Then, the subsequent tasks and interrupts are inhibited until a final step that consists of releasing the system (1).

Abstract: A meteorological information system useable by aircraft pilots and others. A receiver-calculator unit receives raw meteorological data and site-specific physical data from a ground-based weather station having a signal transmitter for broadcasting signals conveying data about weather conditions at the station. The transmitted raw data signals are received by the receiver-calculator unit in the aircraft. The receiver-calculator unit may feature an input with which the operator inputs information about the physical character, such as the heading, of the runway of interest. The receiver-calculator unit processes both received raw weather data and received site-specific physical data, and/or operator-input data, to derive additional meteorological information. The raw and derived weather conditions information is displayed by the unit to be available to the aircraft pilot during landing or take-off maneuvers.
