Abstract: The present invention provides a method of quickly freezing vegetables, whose cells are broken and commercial value is lost when processed by a conventional freeze-preservation method, and stocking them in a freezing environment. The method according to the present invention comprises the first step of adding at least one selected from a group consisting of monosaccharide, disaccharide, oligosaccharide and sugar alcohol and polysaccharide, with or without salts, to vegetables to pickling them for several hours, the second step of quickly freezing the vegetables processed in the first step and the third step of storing the quickly frozen vegetables in a freezing environment. Polysaccharides surround cells of vegetables to remove water content of cells and protect them and monosaccharide, disaccharide, oligosaccharide and sugar alcohol and/or salts permeates into cells and is replaced with water content to prevent growth of water crystal.
Abstract: A refrigerator door handle including handle extension bases on opposite sides thereof for securement to a refrigerator door for receiving associated handle extensions of the refrigerator door handle, each handle extension base having a longitudinally extending body member with one end of the body member being closed by two arms extending inwardly towards each other, where each arm has a tab provided on an inner side thereof. An edge portion of the body member at the one end thereof is bent upwardly to a raised position so that the raised edge portion provides a recess thereunder for receiving the tabs therein. The free ends of the arms are secured together, and also the tabs are secured to an under surface of the raised edge portion in order to close the one end of the body member. In a modified embodiment, a transverse slit is provided through the raised edge portion of the body member to facilitate the upward bending of the raised edge portion.
Abstract: A multifunctional pocket tool, for example a Swiss army knife, folding pen knife or knife-pliers, has at least one retractable implement and includes removable screwing attachments, for example Phillips attachments, flat screwdrivers, socket wrench or socket keys or corkscrews, which can be fixed perpendicularly to one of the lateral faces of the tool. The attachments are preferably attached by using a hexagonal opening in one side of the tool. The location of the opening is selected so as not to impede the manipulation of other implements. In one variant, a ratchet is integrated in the pocket tool. The ratchet is not reversible, but the attachments can be attached by using the two sides of the ratchet. A handle, serving normally to operate another implement, also enables operation of the ratchet. A removable adapter can be placed on a little screwdriver for fixing other removable screwing attachments.
Abstract: A pipe strap for mounting on the bottom portion of a strut so that pipes can be clamped thereto in addition to the pipes already clamped to the top portion of the strut, the pipe strap including an upper flange portion with an opening therein to receive a threaded bolt therethrough for securing the pipe strap to an associated pipe strap with the pipe therebetween, and a curved arm extending downwardly from the upper flange portion for clamping against the pipe, the curved arm having a reduced lower tab portion for engaging in one of the slotted holes in the bottom portion of the strut to secure the pipe strap thereto so that the pipe strap coacts with the associated pipe strap to clamp the pipe to the bottom portion of the strut in a fixed engagement therewith. In one embodiment, the bottom flange of the pipe strap has a transverse width smaller than the longitudinal length of the slotted hole in the strut for insertion therein.
