  • Patent number: 6180861
Abstract: To eliminate the delay time from when a request is made for playing a prescribed tone until it is actually played. Tone data in which the beginning part of the data that generates one effect sound is uncompressed data and the remaining part is compressed data, is stored in a compressed data unit. An arithmetic processing unit reads the data stored in the compressed data unit and decides whether this data is compressed data. If the data is uncompressed data, the data is transferred via multiplexer 9 to speaker 50 and is played. While the uncompressed data is being played, the remaining data is transferred to an expansion unit, where expansion processing is performed on it. If the expansion-processed data requires later-stage processing, it is stored in a post-expansion data unit, and if no such processing is required, it is transferred via a multiplexer to a speaker and is played.

  • Patent number: 6181923
Abstract: The present invention relates to the automatic frequency control circuit and the method of automatic frequency control. The automatic frequency control circuit for processing frequency control of a received signal frequency based on an incoming received signal comprises a first control circuit for processing frequency control based on a precision counter by using the incoming received signal and a second control circuit for processing frequency control based on a coarse counter by using the incoming received signal, wherein the first control circuit and the second control circuit are configured to be used interchangeably in response to the incoming received signal. By employing the circuit which directly counts the received signal and the circuit which counts the regenerative carrier signal in combination, the follow up range of the automatic frequency control circuit is thus expanded.

  • Patent number: 6181188
Abstract: An apparatus stabilizes the level of an output signal (b) of an output control unit (1) according to a control signal (c). When a power source is turned on or when burst signal transmission starts, an input signal (a) to the output control unit (1) rises. While the input signal (a) is rising, a switching circuit (6) selects initial value data (e) held in an initial value data holding circuit (8), so that a smoothing unit (4) may generate the control signal (c) from the initial value data (e). When a variation in difference data obtained from a moving average of the difference between level data (h) detected by a level detecting unit (3) and reference value data (g) held in a reference value data holding circuit (9) decreases below a predetermined value, the switching circuit (6) provides the difference data as average value data (f) to the smoothing unit (4) so that the smoothing unit (4) may generate the control signal (c) from the average value data (f).

  • Patent number: 6180864
Abstract: A device to perform tone generation while efficiently using a broad bit width bus and essentially eliminating the delay from the request for tone expression until its expression. An arithmetic processing device that generates tones reads the data all at once from a memory in which tone data is stored. This is set so that the delay time from when there is a request for tone generation until the tone is actually generated and expressed is negligible.

  • Patent number: 6181680
Abstract: In an ATM switch, after a communication path is properly set up, a continuity test is performed by passing an OAM cell through the communication path before initiating the transmission of user cells. After the transmission of user cells is initiated, a loopback test is performed by periodically inserting an OAM cell in a user cell flow. When a fault condition is detected as a result of the OAM cell loopback test, a peak cell rate environment is created by adding OAM cells to the user cells for a limited period of time, and communication quality is measured under the thus created environment. When a point-to-multipoint connection with a plurality of leaf points is set up, correspondence between each leaf point and a physical connection point is recorded in a table.

  • Patent number: 6172753
Abstract: A method and a device for detecting a position of a graduation support relative to a support of the device in a direction of displacement of the graduation support and the support relative to each other. The device has a light source. The support has a high resolution graduation consisting of a sequence or array of optical elements focusing the light beam sensing plane on a support on which light-sensitive sensing elements are arranged so that the displacement of the graduation support in relation to the sensing plane can be assessed with precision. The light flux is modified by the graduation and intercepts at least the entire width of an optical element such that the light energy is converted into an alternating signal representing the position of the graduation support in relation to the support. The device is suitable for producing high resolution sensors with simple elements which are easy to manufacture.
