  • Patent number: 6237046
Abstract: When an input/output request of a channel adapter causes a mishit on a cache and a staging amount by a device adapter reaches a predetermined amount, the cache is set into a hit status and the channel adapter is reactivated. By receiving a hit response, the reactivated channel adapter executes an input and an output for the cache and the staging of the channel adapter in parallel. A defective/alternating track management table which corresponds to track data stored in a cache memory and has each of addresses of a defective track and an alternating track and flag information showing a link state between both of the defective track and the alternating track is provided for an input/output controller. For a retrieving request in which the defective track address is designated, the defective/alternating track management table is retrieved and the corresponding alternating track address is obtained, thereby judging the presence or absence of a registration of a hash table.

  • Patent number: 6232554
Abstract: A cable entrance module is provided at a position of equipment at which a cable enters the equipment from the outside. The cable is inserted through the inside of the cable entrance module. The cable entrance module includes an entrance-side membrane, an exit-side membrane, and a viscous-matter-filling portion. The inside of the filling portion is filled with viscous matter. The entrance-side membrane has such strength that when it is pierced by the extending end of the cable it is pushed by the extending end of the cable. The exit-side membrane has a strength such that it is not pierced by the viscous matter when the cable pierces the entrance-side membrane, enters the viscous-matter filling portion, and moves through the viscous matter in the viscous-matter filling portion while pushing the viscous matter aside. The exit-side membrane is pierced by the extending end of the cable when it is pushed by the extending end of the cable.

  • Patent number: 6229883
Abstract: A system for delivering a caller's phone number to a called subscriber in an Internet telephony system. A calling subscriber (caller) first makes a call to its local server (caller-side server) to request an Internet-based call connection to a remote subscriber (callee). A first transmission unit, disposed in a caller-side local switch, transmits the caller's phone number to the caller-side server through a first control channel. A second transmission unit disposed in the caller-side server then transmits, over the Internet, the caller's phone number to another server (caller-side server) that is local to the callee. The caller's phone number is now available in the callee-side server. A caller number acquisition unit, disposed in the callee-side local switch, makes access to that information by using a second control channel. In this way, the callee-side local switch obtains the phone number of the caller.

  • Patent number: 6230108
Abstract: A realtime sensitivity correction method for use in an infrared imaging system, which compensates for possible sensitivity variations among a plurality of sensor elements constituting a infrared sensor device. The infrared imaging system comprises: an infrared sensor which accepts infrared rays emanating from a target object through an appropriate optical system, two reference heat sources, a sensitivity correction circuit composed of digital signal processors, RAM, and other components, a sensitivity correction sequence controller, and a video monitor. The system's scanning cycle consists of an effective scanning period and a non-effective scanning period. During a non-effective scanning period, the infrared sensor scans the high-temperature and normal-temperature reference heat sources. By averaging the detected values, high-temperature reference data and normal-temperature reference data are obtained.

  • Patent number: 6223516
Abstract: A method of diamond cutting or faceting hollow link jewelry chain by arranging a chain on an ice lathe support, completely freezing the chain on such support and moving a blunt instrument across such chain to produce flattened links. The pressure of the blunt instrument against the frozen chain simultaneously scrapes off the ice and flattens the links, thereby avoiding the requirement that the portion of the links that are to be faceted be initially unfrozen. The blunt instrument may be a so-called “finger of steel”, which can be sharp, pointed, rounded, arcuate, smooth or the like. A variety of faceting formations can be realized depending on the movement of the blunt instrument across the outer surface of such chain.

  • Patent number: 6226265
Abstract: In a first UPC, a PCR is set as a monitor rate for each connection. If a transfer rate of a cell exceeds the PCR set for the connection, the cell is discarded. In a second UPC, an ACR is set as a monitor rate for each connection. If the transfer rate of the cell exceeds the ACR set for the connection, a lower priority is assigned to that cell. Additionally, with a configuration where one UPC monitors a varying rate, a parameter change process is controlled by obtaining a time between a passage time of a detected B-RM cell and an arrival of a user cell and comparing the obtained time with maximum and minimum delay standard values. A parameter table including some parameters is provided. A header of an arrived cell in a forward direction is extracted, and it is determined whether or not the arrived cell is a violation cell using the leaky bucket algorithm, etc. If the arrived cell is a violation cell, it is discarded.

  • Patent number: 6226293
Abstract: An ATM switching equipment involves the use of a data editing terminal different from a central controller to easily efficiently collect data on a transmission path. Each component device generates an OAM cell having traffic data and performance monitor data as internal information without providing a new device as the one for inputting the data to the data editing terminal. The traffic data and the performance monitor data of all the devices are automatically simultaneously inputted at a high speed to the data editing terminal by routing the OAM cell to the data editing terminal connected to an ATM switch of the same switching equipment. The data required can be displayed at any time periodically or in response to a request from a maintenance man in the data editing terminal.

  • Patent number: 6226270
Abstract: A method for a path trace check reducing a load on a computer, raising the speed of the check, and easily enabling an increase of nodes to be added. On a sender side, a first computer simply generates path trace data, adds a specific code CR to this, multiplexes this to the transmission data, then transmits the same to a transmission line. On a receiver side, a second computer simply generates an expected value of the path trace data, autonomously compares this expected value and the actual path trace data extracted from the received transmission data by using the specific code, and determines coincidence of the two.
