Abstract: A metal closure cap is described for sealing containers. It is of the lug type having a metal shell with a flowed-in gasket. The cap differs from prior twist caps of this general type by having a tapered corner between the cap top and the cap skirt. This corner design permits a reduced amount of metal to be used and further provides a more rigid closure corner permitting the use of lighter-weight metal. Improved methods of forming the cap shell, including the corner portion are also described.
Abstract: An improvement is described for a tank type toilet flushing system. A positive coupling is provided between the flushing handle and the tank emptying flushing valve including a rigid flush control rod. This permits the flush to be terminated at will and before the flush tank is completely emptied. The flush control rod has a bent, length adjusting section, and a bent section for removably mounting a float.
Abstract: This invention relates to improved energy-emitting latex-particulates for use in a non-destructive method of biological assay, wherein the biological material under assay links the distinct and different particulates in such a manner that their proximity results in a detectable signal which is indicative of the amount of such biological material present in the fluid.More particularly, this invention relates to improved energy-emitting latex-particulates which have improved stability, a greatly extended shelf-life, particularly in the fluid suspension state, and whose use in the quantitative assay of immunological material results in a reduced background signal and improved sensitivity and stability.
Abstract: An improved loudspeaker system is disclosed which includes a passive electrical network between the speaker input and the output of a speaker driver for reproducing bass frequencies. The loudspeaker uses a closed box system and obtains an extended low frequency response through the use of critical relationships in the passive electrical network including high order transfer functions.
Abstract: An indirect, non-destructive, quantitative assay for the presence of antigens or antibodies in a biological fluid. The assay is based on the interfunctional behavior of a known biological material with the material whose presence is quantitatively sought. In the assay, the known biological material by a correlative action links two discreet interfunctional particles together within a zone of activation with one of the particles emitting light-pulses upon bombardment of electrons from the other particle within the zone of activation. Depending upon which presence is sought to be measured, i.e.; antigen or antibody, the detectable light-pulses give one measurement which gives the ultimate quantitative measurement of the presence of either an antibody or antigen in the biological fluid after their initial interfunctional behavior one to the other. The interfunctional behavior itself is conventional and known in the art.
Abstract: A method is described for manufacturing articles from solid member using a series of cuts whereby a finished article such as a hollow bird house or other article is formed by an efficient and material saving process. The method is characterized by the use of a number of successive generally straight cuts so that the method is simple and produces only a minimal amount of waste of the material used. A typical example of the process comprises the forming of a hollow bird house or similar article from a section of a log.
Abstract: A molded plastic closure is described for particular use on packages employing a metallic innerseal and where the package is sealed using induction heating for softening a heat sensitive adhesive on the under surface of the innerseal while pressure is applied to the cap top. The closure cap is formed of a deformable plastic with a relatively thin shell permitting the induction coils to be positioned close to the metallic innerseal and to permit portions of the closure cap to be wrapped closely around portions of the container finish during the induction sealing process.
Abstract: A hack saw frame having a handle assembly, a body assembly and a front assembly adapted to hold a hack saw therebetween. The front assembly is pivotly mounted on the body assembly with manual means for pivoting the front assembly. When the manual means is moved in one direction, the front assembly will pivot to tighten and hold the blade in place. When the manual means is moved in the opposite direction, the blade is loosened to permit removal.
Abstract: A display package in which a number of articles are packaged in a container and wherein a single article may be viewed through the cover of the container.
Abstract: An improved flushing device is disclosed for use in tanks such as are used for flushing toilets. The flushing device has an inlet means including an improved two-stage valve which uses inlet line pressure in operating each of the two stages. A float is movably mounted on an inlet fixture for use in controlling the tank filling operation with a lever operatively coupling the float to the first stage of the valve. A vertical hollow overflow tube including a bowl filling aperture cooperates with a liquid operated variable buoyancy means on the float and alternatively a tube connects the inlet means with an overflow tube.
