Abstract: Control list management may be provided. First, it may be detected that an event has occurred on a data network. Then, it may be determined, in response to the detected event, that a device on the data network needs to be provided with an access control list. Next, the access control list may be obtained from a database central to the data network. Then, the device may be provided with the obtained access control list.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the present methods and systems, a computer-assisted method is provided for authenticating at least one service related communication with a technician in a telecommunications system. The method includes the steps of receiving at least one of a password and a user identification from an access device employed by the technician; combining a token with at least one of the password and the user identification data to form a combined authentication password; permitting access to the telecommunications system by the technician subject to an authentication of at least the combined authentication password. In another aspect, one embodiment of the present methods may include a service related communication that includes at least one wireless communication. Computer-readable media embodiments and system embodiments associated with the present methods are also provided.

Abstract: Location-blocking and identity-blocking services that can be commercially offered by a service promoter, e.g., a cellular service provider or a web advertiser. In the identity-blocking service, the service promoter may disclose the current physical location of a mobile subscriber (i.e., a cellular phone operator) to a third party (e.g., a web advertiser) subscribing to the identity-blocking service. However, the service promoter may not send any identity information for the mobile subscriber to the third party. On the other hand, in the location-blocking service, the service promoter may disclose the mobile subscriber's identity information to the third party, but not the current physical location of the mobile subscriber. Blocking of the mobile subscriber's identity or location information may be desirable for privacy reasons, to comply with a government regulation, or to implement a telecommunication service option selected by the mobile subscriber.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for associating dynamic sound content with a web page in a browser. A request for text data is received from the browser. The requested text data is retrieved from a source, such as a database, and converted into a sound file. The retrieved text data may be converted to a sound file by translating the text data into audio data, formatting the audio data based on a predetermined audio format, and writing the formatted audio data to a file. A web page is created including a sound tag pointing to a file path associated with the sound file. The created web page is then sent in a response to the browser. Once the web page is received by the browser, the browser initiates playback of the sound file from the file path.

Abstract: An image capture device is wirelessly coupled to a network to facilitate distribution of captured images. The image capture device captures and stores digital images. The image capture device is adapted to determine whether there is an accessible network. If there is an accessible network, the image capture device the image to a network storage device for distribution to one or more recipients. A user can also modify, review and/or delete captured images.

Abstract: Presented are apparatus and method for distributed authentication and control of an electronic security device. The method includes prompting an authority for access to an ESS and providing a response package by the authority, wherein the response package comprises a first hash value combining challenge data and a pass code for the ESS. Upon receipt of the response package, the first hash value and a second hash value generated by the by the ESS may be prepared and if the first hash value and the second hash values match, the ESS may be unlocked.

Abstract: Stylized digital content is rapidly created by reading a first file and a plurality of second files. The first file contains a digital content item and each second file contains at least one style definition. At least one display instance of stylized digital content is created by applying the style definition of one of the plurality of second files to the digital content item of the first file. The at least one display instance is mapped to a location on the display device. A location is received from a pointing device and one of the plurality of display instances is displayed based on the received location.

Abstract: A system for providing authorized wireless telecommunication access is provided. The system includes at least one password-protected cellular access (PPCA) node and a database. The database is configured to receive an identifier from a mobile terminal and correlate the identifier with PPCA node data to determine if the mobile terminal is authorized to use a particular PPCA node. A method for providing authorized wireless telecommunication access is also provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for communicating with a technician at a customer service location in a telecommunications system. One method embodiment includes generating an electronic message in an administration system; transmitting the generated electronic message from the administration system through a technician server operatively associated with the administration system; and, displaying the generated electronic message on a screen display adapted for viewing with an access device of the technician at the customer service location. One system embodiment includes an administration system configured for generating at least one electronic message; a technician server operatively associated with the administration system; and, a screen display adapted for receiving and displaying the generated electronic message for viewing on an access device of the technician at the customer service location. Computer-readable media embodiments of the present methods are also provided.

Abstract: A platform for the automated testing of event driven software applications is provided. A source environment is replicated to a target environment. The target environment includes a target system. A test case is defined with a target system, specific attributes and verification information. The attributes of the test case include the target system. The test case is fired. An event is simulated for the test case based on the target system and the specific attributes. The simulated event is transmitted to the target environment. The results of the test case being fired are determined based on verification information. The results are recorded to a data store.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method provides location-sensitive and time-sensitive calendaring to a wireless device, such as a cell phone, pager, PDA, etc. A user's calendar is maintained with a number of appointments, start times and end times for the appointments, meeting place and a list of attendees for the appointments. When the present time reading is within a predetermined minimum of a meeting start time of an appointment of a calendar user, the location of the user is determined based on the location of the wireless device. The location of the meeting place is also determined. Using historical data (of the user or others), the estimated time of arrival of the user at the meeting place is determined. If the estimated time of arrival is after the meeting start time, then a late message may be sent to the user and/or to the other meeting attendees.

Abstract: A system and method for anticipating wireless signal loss and providing location based services in view of the anticipated wireless signal loss is disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for coordinating network operation modes of a GPRS network is disclosed. The system includes a database storing a preferred list of network operation modes of the GPRS network that a mobile subscriber registered for. A SGSN detects the status of an interface for GPRS packet data services and reports the status to a BSC. BSC in turn decides which network operation mode to use based on the preferred list. The GPRS network is then switched to the preferred network operation mode.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for monitoring the geographic location or velocity of a first wireless device relative to at least one other wireless device and noting an exception if the first wireless device moves beyond a predetermined threshold of separation from the second wireless device, or if the velocity of the first wireless device is outside a predetermined threshold. In response to an exception, supervisory action is taken which may include contacting the wireless device or contacting another person.

Abstract: A photocatalytic metal deposition process and a resulting nanocomposite are described. The nanocomposite includes an electrically conducting carbonaceous material, a photoactive metal oxide and a metal. Metals for deposition include noble metals, metal alloys and other transition metals in which the metal is laid down precisely and in a predetermined fashion on one or more surfaces of a composite. Deposition provides a high performance electrocatalyst for a number of suitable applications.

Abstract: A method for generating a chronic circuit report for use in maintaining a communication network is provided. The method comprises the steps of searching a database for information regarding circuit exceptions reported in a communication system, compiling a listing of circuits and circuit exception information, prioritizing the listing of the circuits based on the circuit exception information, and generating a circuit exception report.

Abstract: A method and system of erasing at least part of the location information stored on a subscriber identity module (SIM) of a mobile phone. The SIM stores the most recently used service provider in its location information. Either at power down or power up, the location information is erased so during the power up routine, the service provider search schedule will not find a service provide, when it first searches the most recently used service provider stored in the location information. In this case, the service provider search routine will appropriately choose either the home service provider or a preferred service provider rather than the service provider stored in the location information. The method of erasing at least part of the location information may be carried out by a program stored on the SIM card or by a wireless network transmitting an instructive signal to the wireless device.
