Abstract: A semiconductor lamination portion (6) is formed by laminating nitride semiconductor layers including an n-type layer (3) and a p-type layer (5) on one side of a substrate (1) so as to form a light emitting layer, and a light transmitting conductive layer (7) is provided at a surface side of the semiconductor lamination portion. A concave-convex pattern, i.e., concaves (7a), is provided on a surface of the light transmitting conductive layer. A p-side electrode (8) is provided on the light transmitting conductive layer, and an n-side electrode (9) is electrically connected to the n-type layer exposed by etching a part of the semiconductor lamination portion. Light emitted from the light emitting layer is therefore totally reflected repeatedly in the semiconductor lamination portion and the substrate and can be effectively taken out without attenuation, so external quantum efficiency can be improved.
Abstract: A sheet feeding apparatus includes a first feeding member that feeds a sheet along a predetermined feeding path, and a second feeding member that further feeds the sheet along the feeding path. The second feeding member is provided on a downstream side of the first feeding member along the feeding path. A sheet guide for guiding the sheet is provided between the first and second feeding members along the feeding path. The sheet feeding apparatus further includes a sheet holding member that holds the sheet against the sheet guide, and a biasing assisting member that applies a biasing force to the sheet holding member by means of the sheet which is fed between the first and second feeding members. The biasing force assists the sheet holding member to hold the sheet against the sheet guide.
Abstract: An OCDM communication system and a method for correcting failure of the same are provided. In the system, encoders and decoders are provided respectively for channels. Each encoder, including an SSFBG, encodes an optical signal using a code value determined according to distance between adjacent unit fiber Bragg gratings in the SFFBG. Each decoder, including an SFFBG, generates a received optical signal by decoding the encoded signal using a code value determined in the same manner. A set temperature of each encoder and decoder is calculated and a corresponding control signal is generated based on average power and error rate detection signals of each received optical signal. The temperature of each encoder or decoder is individually adjusted according to the control signal, which makes equal the code values of an encoder and decoder of a channel in which average power of a received signal has changed or error rate thereof is excessive.
Abstract: A hierarchical face recognition training method and a hierarchical face recognition method thereof for performing a face feature recognition on an image under detection. The method includes a training process and a recognition process. The recognition method includes the steps. A plurality of training samples is obtained. The training samples are subdivided into a plurality of sub-image categories according to a plurality of angle intervals, and the training of a plurality of face features performs on a corresponding sub-image detector of each of the sub-image categories. The training measures performed repeatedly to generate sub-image categories at a sub-level of the sub-image categories. The training method includes the steps. An image under detection is loaded. A similarity of each of sub-image detectors compares according to the image under detection, and the sub-image detector having the highest similarity is selected. The face recognition measures performed repeatedly on the selected sub-image detector.
Abstract: A semiconductor package is provided. The semiconductor package includes a package body, a plurality of semiconductor chips, and an external connection terminal. The package body is stacked with a plurality of sheets where conductive patterns and vias are disposed. The plurality of semiconductor chips are inserted into insert slots extending from one surface of the package body. The external connection terminal is provided on other surface opposite to the one surface of the package body. Here, the plurality of semiconductor chips are electrically connected to the external connection terminal.

Abstract: A system and a method are used for maintaining and analyzing manufacturing equipment. The system includes an embedded forecast device (EFD) configured in the manufacturing equipment and a server in communication with the EFD. The EFD is built in with a feature extraction (FE) algorithm and a forecast model (FM), so as to obtain a real time data of the manufacturing equipment and carry out forecasts on the manufacturing equipment to generate a forecast result. The server has various types of FE algorithms and modeling algorithms, which are selected and combined by a user for training and building a required FM and setting related parameters. The embedded forecast device also has a novelty detection model (NDM), which is capable of informing the server to retrain the models when the manufacturing equipment fails and then to update the FM and the NDM of the embedded forecast device.

Abstract: A structure of heat dissipation of an electronic device includes at least one heat pipe and a cooler. The heat pipe has a condensation end and an evaporation end opposite to each other, and the evaporation end is disposed on a heat generating element of the electronic device. The cooler is disposed on a rack and has a chamber therein, and the chamber has an inner shell having a cooling fluid therein. When the electronic device is mounted in the rack, the condensation end of the heat pipe is inserted into the cooler and positioned into the inner shell. The evaporation end absorbs the heat energy of the heat generating element, and transfers the heat energy to the condensation end, such that the cooling fluid dissipates the heat energy of the condensation end.

Abstract: A rotary hinge for an electronic device with a cover and a body is mounted between a bottom of the cover and a top of the body and has a receiving assembly, a connecting assembly and a retaining assembly. The receiving assembly is connected to the cover. The connecting assembly is connected to the body and is attached pivotally to the receiving assembly. The retaining assembly is connected respectively to the receiving and connecting assemblies to selectively hold the cover at closed and open positions. With only one pivot between the rotary hinge and the cover, part of the body is exposed to allow the input unit being used when the cover is pivoted to open. Regardless of opening or closing the cover, the rotary hinge is hidden to prevent from damaging and foreign matters.
Abstract: An intermittent operation communication device periodically repeats beacon transmission, data reception or data reception wait, and sleep to transmit data to any of reception side communication devices. The intermittent operation communication device includes a data transmitter for performing transmission when receiving a beacon from any of the reception side communication devices and having data traffic generated meant for a reception side communication device, a transmission announcer for intermittently transmitting a transmission announcement beacon while waiting for reception when having the data traffic generated, and an adjuster for monitoring a transmission announcement beacon from any other of the intermittent operation communication devices to adjust the transmission of the data traffic.
Abstract: A method for the online determination of the ash content of a substance conveyed on a conveying device, includes a first measurement for determining the mass per unit area of the substance and a second measurement for determining the mean atomic number of the atoms present in the substance. An additional X-ray fluorescence measurement is carried out.
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for measuring a position of a linear type valve which is open/shut by operation of a hydraulic cylinder. More particularly, the apparatus more accurately measures a valve position by outputting a rotation angle of a rotation sleeve which rotates by being operatively connected to a hydraulic cylinder which moves linearly, and by calculating a vertical movement distance of a valve gate which changes in proportion to the rotation angle. Further, since the structure of the apparatus is very simple, the cost of production is significantly reduced. In addition, for use, the apparatus is installed on the hydraulic cylinder by a simple method.

Abstract: Provided are an abrupt MIT device with variable MIT temperature or voltage, an MIT sensor using the abrupt MIT device, and an alarm apparatus and a secondary battery anti-explosion circuit including the MIT sensor. The MIT device includes an abrupt MIT layer undergoing an abrupt MIT at a transition temperature or a transition voltage and at least two electrode layers contacting the abrupt MIT layer. The transition temperature or the transition voltage varies with at least one of factors including a voltage applied to the electrode layers, a temperature, an electromagnetic wave, a pressure, and a gas concentration that affect the abrupt MIT layer. The MIT sensor is a temperature sensor, an infrared sensor, an image sensor, a pressure sensor, a gas-concentration sensor, or a switch. The alarm apparatus includes the MIT sensor and an alarm-signaling unit connected in series with the MIT sensor.

Abstract: A slot-in optical disk drive with lifting ejection device is disclosed. A sliding device which has a first guiding slot and a second guiding slot is driven by a transmission unit. A sliding bolt protruded from a traverse is inserted into the first guiding slot, and the traverse connects with the sliding device. A lifting ejection device has a column vertically set in a housing and a sleeve which covers the column. A guiding pin protruded from the sleeve is inserted into the second guiding slot and is driven by the sliding device to disengage an optical disk.
Abstract: A transceiver includes a lead-frame, a signal emitter, a signal receiver, and a coupling lens. The signal emitter and the signal receiver are attached on a same pad of the lead-frame. The coupling lens covers the signal emitter and the signal receiver. Since the positions of the signal emitter and the signal receiver are adjacent to each other, the coupling lens can be used to couple the signal emitter and the signal receiver for transmitting and receiving signals.
