  • Patent number: 6884046
Abstract: In a rotating compressor, an outer peripheral surface of a partition member which is secured firmly to a casing so as to divide the inside of the casing into a high-level pressure space and a low-level pressure space, is provided with a peripheral groove for allowing for shrinkage of the casing at a weld area where a trunk part and end plate of the casing are welded together. As a result of such arrangement, the partition member is strongly tightened by making utilization of such shrinkage, thereby not only enhancing sealability between the high-level pressure space and the low-level pressure space in the inside of the casing but also preventing a drop in workability during assembling and an increase in cost.

  • Patent number: 6880777
Abstract: A first bearing and a second bearing are mounted on an inner peripheral side of an inner peripheral portion of a bobbin portion. The first bearing and the second bearing are rotatably mounted on a spool shaft a tubular retaining member. An annular member is mounted to an outer periphery of the spool shaft so as to be prevented from moving rearward relative to the spool shaft. A through hole passes through the retaining member. The retaining member is non-rotatably coupled to the spool shaft by a pin member. A nut member is mounted on the outer periphery of the spool shaft, such that the retaining member is interposed and fixedly held between the annular member and the nut member.

  • Patent number: 6879249
Abstract: A vehicle obstacle detecting apparatus has an obstacle sensor, an obstacle detecting section, a vehicle response section, a driver operation storing section, a precision determining section and a threshold value updating section. The obstacle detecting section is configured to determine a presence of an obstacle around the vehicle to output a positive obstacle determination based on a similarity value between the detected obstacle information sent from the obstacle sensor and pre-stored obstacle detection reference information with a threshold value. The driver operation storing section is configured to store an average operation characteristic data calculated based on a driver operation. The precision determining section is configured to determine a detection precision of the obstacle by comparing an expected driver operation determined based on the average operation characteristic data with an actual driver operation.

  • Patent number: 6874717
Abstract: An oscillating mechanism is for reciprocating a spool in a spool shaft direction in cooperation with rotation of a handle. The oscillating mechanism includes a slider member, a gear member, and a guide shaft. The slider member is mounted at least axially immovably to a spool shaft, on the fore end of which the spool is mounted. The gear member reciprocates the slider member in the shaft axial direction in cooperation with rotation of the handle. The guide shaft is supported at two locations of its outer circumferential surface with the reel unit, has an annular groove to which a retainer can be attached for preventing disengagement of the guide shaft in one axial direction, and guides the slider member in a direction substantially parallel to the spool shaft. In this way, structure for retaining a guide shaft is simplified and design constraint alleviated.

  • Patent number: 6874719
Abstract: Sealing structure has a friction disk having a spindle-form boss portion, a cover member, and a seal member, in a lever-drag type dual-bearing reel. Cover member has a through-hole situated encompassing the boss portion, and is a component that is rotatable relative to friction disk. The seal member, which is a component made of an elastic substance, is for sealing a clearance between the boss portion and the cover member, and has an cylindrical portion made of an elastic substance and mountable on the boss portion, and a sealing portion formed integrally on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical portion and tapering toward the through-hole. A distal edge of the sealing portion is for contacting a contact surface in through-hole. The present invention provides a structure for sealing a spindle-form first member and, disposed about the outer periphery thereof, a second member, to seal while controlling impairment in rotational performance, without having to use components or space for fastening.

  • Patent number: 6872142
Abstract: Coil springs 33 and 36 couple input and output rotary members 2 and 3 together such that they can rotate relative to each other. The coil springs 33 and 36 have a torsion characteristic having a positive region and a negative region that has a lower rigidity than the positive region. A second friction generating section 71 is arranged such that friction is generated rotationally-between the input rotary member 2 and the output rotary member 3 due to the elastic force of the coil springs 33 and 36 when the two rotary members 2 and 3 rotate relative to each other. A friction suppressing mechanism secures rotational gaps 91 and 92 on only the negative side of the torsion characteristic. These rotational gaps serve to prevent the elastic force of the coil springs 33 and 36 from acting on the second friction generating section 71 within a prescribed angular range.

  • Patent number: 6873912
Abstract: A vehicle tracking system for a vehicle is configured to track a remote vehicle by template matching between a reference image and an input image obtained by a camera mounted on the vehicle. The position and distance of a remote vehicle is determined by calculating a position and an enlargement/reduction ratio of a portion of the input image that provide a maximum correlation value between the portion of the input image and the reference template that is greater than a threshold value. The reference template is updated by calculating a dispersion of at least one pixel of the reference template with respect to a corresponding pixel in a vehicle image extracted from the input image that provides the maximum correlation value, and by deleting the at least one pixel when the dispersion of the at least one pixel is equal to or greater than a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6872899
Abstract: There is provided a button capable of entry and exit with respect to a base. The button has a button member, ring member, lock member, and fixed member. The button member has a shaft portion mounted in a manner that allows entry and exit with respect to the base, and an expanded-diameter portion with a shaft diameter that is larger than the diameter of the shaft portion. The ring member accommodates the shaft portion and can rotate about the axial center of the shaft portion. The lock member moves along the axial center between the ring member and the shaft portion due to the rotation of the ring member, and restricts the entry and exit action of the button member by coming into contact with the expanded-diameter portion of the button member. The fixed member is fixed to the base and stops the ring member to restrict the movement of the ring member along the axial center.

  • Patent number: 6863057
Abstract: A fuel vapor treatment system is provided that diagnoses failure of the purge valve using one absolute pressure sensor. The fuel vapor treatment system includes a fuel tank, a canister, a drain cut valve, a purge valve, purge piping and a sensor. The canister adsorbs fuel vapor evaporated from the fuel tank. The drain cut valve controls the introduction of air into the canister. The purge valve is disposed between the canister and an intake passage into which fuel vapor flows from the canister. The purge piping communicates between the fuel tank and the intake passage via the canister. The sensor detects the absolute pressure inside the purge piping. The fuel vapor treatment system is further equipped with an atmospheric pressure setting device that sets the value detected by the sensor when the drain cut valve is open as the atmospheric pressure used for controlling the engine.

  • Patent number: 6863291
Abstract: A computer controlled suspension system is provided for a bicycle, which can effectively absorb shock and provide stability on rough surfaces regardless of the speed of the vehicle. The suspension system has a control unit, a front suspension, a rear suspension, a front wheel terrain sensor, and a rear controller. The rear suspension is selectively adjustable by the control unit to change stiffness of the rear suspension. When the front suspension hits a bump or a depression in the surface of the ground, a signal is sent to the rear controller so that the rear suspension can react appropriately. In one embodiment, a pedaling torque sensor is operatively coupled to the control unit to input a signal that is indicative of pedaling force, and the rear controller adjusts stiffness of the rear suspension in response to the pedaling force via the control unit.
