  • Patent number: 4922080
Abstract: In a cooker plate (1) connection of the particular electric hotplate (3) a window opening (19) is provided as an assembly opening in a holding part (5) substantially completely covering the same on the underside, through which can be passed a connecting piece (21) for the electrically conducting connection to the connecting members (15) of hotplate (3). This window opening (19) can be substantially completely closed with a closure (20), the latter being constructed in one piece with a ceramic insulator (22) of connecting piece (21) or can be formed by a separate component made from sheet metal or the like. This leads to a very reliable and effective closure of the cooker plate (1), also on the underside thereof.

  • Patent number: 4921142
Abstract: A manually operable fluid dispenser is described in which the pump cylinder (12) is a separate part plugged onto a dispenser body (2) and secured against retraction by stop and counter stop members (18, 10). The pump cylinder (12) is engaging a counter member (9) of the dispenser body (2) and this counter member (9) is surrounded at a distance by an additional casing jacket (5) entirely receiving the pump cylinder (12) in the initial position of the pump piston (20). Although a resiliently opening and closing discharge valve is conceivable a discharge closure device can be provided which, upon initially operating the discharge pump, irreversibly opens. An expel member (34) immersed into the hollow pump piston (20) is provided in the pump chamber (14) in such a way that it immerses at the beginning of the pump stroke.

  • Patent number: 4919692
Abstract: A process is provided for the removal of solvents and other contaminants from an inlet solvent laden air (SLA) path. The process comprises the step of passing the SLA through an adsorbent in an adsorber. The adsorbent is regenerated when it becomes saturated with solvents. The regeneration step is performed by passing a regenerating fluid, preferably steam, through the adsorber. The steam removes solvents from the adsorbent and transports the solvents out of the adsorber. The steam and solvents are condensed in a condensation step. Water is separated from the condensaton produced in a separation step such as decantation and distillation. The condensed water is passed to a steam generation step. The recovered water is used as boiler feed water to generate low pressure steam. The steam generated in the steam generation step is recycled to the adsorbent regeneration step.

  • Patent number: 4917658
Abstract: An improved friction drive chain especially for a continuously variable transmission has a plurality of friction plates, each of the friction plates being substantially I-shaped in lateral section. The friction plates are arranged adjacent one another and connected by connecting link elements received in recesses formed in both lateral sides of the friction plates between upper and lower beam members of said friction plates. The connecting link elements are laterally grooved to bear longitudinally against the friction plates. The outer surfaces of the lower beam members of the plates define friction drive surfaces for contact with driving and/or driven pulleys. The friction plates are heat treated to increase strength, for example by quenching and annealing. The friction drive surfaces are formed with hardened layers by surface hardening treatment such as by electron beam or laser.

  • Patent number: 4916596
Abstract: A flashlight that is convertible between a hand-held form and a body-mountable form is disclosed. The flashlight includes a head assembly, which houses the light bulb and the switching mechanism, and a body assembly which houses the power cells. The body assembly includes a pair of articulated arms which are hinged to the head assembly for forming a handle in the hand-held form or a yoke in the body-mountable form. An integral switching and focusing mechanism is provided in the head assembly. Axial displacement of the mechanism switches the flashlight on or off, whereas rotation of the mechanism moves a parabolic reflector relative to the light bulb so as to vary the focus of the light. The head assembly includes a lamp housing which is tiltable for directing the light beam. An electric circuit is provided to permit recharging of the flashlight power cells.

  • Patent number: 4914791
Abstract: A plastic paper clip having two outer, approximately V-shaped clamping legs connected by transverse webs to a pair of clamping arms disposed within the clamping legs, has a longitudinal slot terminating at an extension element leading to the clamping arms. The extension element is not slotted. When applied to clip paper, the clip is subjected to torque in the area of the longitudinal slot, but the extension element keeps the torque from deforming the clamping arms.

  • Patent number: 4912906
Abstract: An automatic bag system for supermarket check-out counters is disclosed. An open top loading compartment is provided adjacent to the check-out clerk and a roll of plastic material is mounted to feed sheet plastic over the open top of the loading compartment. The loading compartment is provided with transversely opposed vertical slots and guide rollers rotatively secured at the top of the slots. Upon loading purchased items into the loading compartment above the plastic material, the plastic material will be urged interiorly of the loading compartment and will assume the shape of the compartment interior configuration. The guide rollers and the vertical slots cooperate to form left and right vertical seams in the plastic material as the compartment is loaded. The left and right seams are heat sealed upon completion of the loading operations to form a finished plastic package with the purchased items contained therewithin.

  • Patent number: 4913254
Abstract: An anti-theft device is provided for vehicles and equipment powered by engines having an electrically-controlled fuel delivery system, and particularly for engines having a shut-off solenoid in combination with the fuel pump and governor assembly, which solenoid operates a valve to stop the flow of fuel to the engine. A lock switch is inserted in the electrical connection to the solenoid. There must be continuity across the lock switch for operation of the engine. The lock switch is preferably positioned substantially adjacent to the fuel pump and governor assembly. A first lock structure is secured to a fixed portion of the vehicle substantially adjacent to the lock switch. A housing is adapted to fit over the lock switch so as to substantially prevent access to the lock switch or the shut-off solenoid. The housing includes second lock structure adapted to engage the first lock structure so as to secure the housing against removal to prevent unauthorized operation of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4913419
Abstract: A striking apparatus includes a resilient joint between a support and a strike receiving target. The hinge member has two resilient leaves joined to each other and retaining the target therebetween. A set of central stiffeners on the hinge leaves defines the preferential hinge axis. The apparatus includes a base section with a support arm which is attachable through a bracket to a vertical support. Posts extending perpendicular to planar plates defining the support and the target carry changeable dampers in the form of bands, O-rings or flexible rods, for user selection of target resistance.
