Abstract: A system for and method of analyzing packet traffic in a packet-switched network, including collecting traffic logs from a network operations center, wherein the traffic logs are representative of packet traffic passing through an actual configuration of the network, and wherein each traffic log includes the time the traffic log was created and an associated packet's network entry and exit points. The collected traffic logs are stored in a computer such that the traffic logs can be replayed. A computer file is thereafter created and is representative of a modified network configuration that is different from the actual configuration of the network. The traffic logs are replayed in coordination with the modified network configuration to generate a histogram file representative of packet traffic passing through or via at least one of a host, node or link in the modified network configuration.

Abstract: A file conversion system includes a filter and conversion tool and an Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) tool. The filter and conversion tool reads a first file comprises a first digital content item and a corresponding first indication of style to be applied to the first digital content item and a second digital content item and a corresponding second indication of style to be applied to the second digital content item. The filter and conversion tool modifies the first file to remove the first digital content item from the first file and converts the modified first file to a second file comprising the second digital content item and a HTML tag based on the second style indication of the first file. The HTML to XHTML tool converts the second file to a third file comprising XHTML tags.

Abstract: A system and method for maintaining information in a personnel directory, according to which historical data is saved and associated with current data, so that a user can locate an individual using outdated information. An embodiment of the invention includes receiving a request to edit an existing data entry of the personnel directory, copying the existing data entry to create a previous data entry, editing the existing data entry, and associating the previous data entry with an associated data entry. A further embodiment includes receiving a search query looking for the previous data entry, searching the personnel directory for the previous data entry, identifying the associated data entry as corresponding to the previous data entry, and reporting the previous data entry and the associated data entry.

Abstract: A fan controller reduces the percentage of time that fans used in a heat exchanger of an outdoor cabinet that houses electronics and power source must operate to provide required cooling to the electronics and power source. The fan controller can also reverse operation of a fan of the heat controller to help reduce clogging of air intakes as well as to clean the interior of the cabinet. In an embodiment, the controller operates the fans in the heat exchanger according to operating temperature ranges. Thermostats can be used to provide the operating temperature ranges. Depending on the state of the thermostats and the ambient temperature, the fan controller causes one fan to operate in the reverse direction while the other fan is idle, causes one fan to operate in the forward direction while the other fan is idle, or causes both fans to operate in the forward direction.

Abstract: A system and method for data distribution and recovery, including a server that broadcasts data to a plurality of clients and a means for a client to identify and recover broadcast data that the client missed while it was off line. In a representative embodiment, the system includes a transfer server, a plurality of clients in communication with the transfer server, and an archive in communication with the transfer server and the plurality of clients. The transfer server receives data packets from a data source, uniquely identifies each data packet, and broadcasts the data packets to the plurality of clients and the archive. Each client receives the data broadcast from the transfer server, identifies missing data, and communicates with the archive to recover the missing data.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for the creation of vehicle sound fonts, for utilizing the vehicle sound fonts to augment the engine sounds of a vehicle, and for establishing a network for sharing and controlling the playback of vehicle sound fonts and other media. The systems install in automobiles and play simulated engine sounds of other recorded vehicles in a controlled manner synchronized with the engine spark frequency of the playback vehicle. Automobiles with these systems may network together to share media and to coordinate playback in a synchronized manner among all vehicles of the network.

Abstract: Rooftop grease containment systems are disclosed. The disclosed grease containment systems may include a grease collection pan having (i) a pan volume surrounded by (a) a pan floor, (b) at least one pan side wall, and (c) a pan rim extending outward from an upper edge of the at least one pan side wall, (ii) at least one pan drain outlet, and (iii) at least one pan opening positioned in the pan floor, the first pan opening having a size and shape so that a first grease duct extending through a roof structure can extend through the first pan opening. The disclosed grease containment systems may further include a roof curb extending upward from the roof structure and having a roof curb upper periphery, the grease collection pan being positioned on the roof curb so that the pan rim rests on the roof curb upper periphery of the roof curb. Methods of making and using the disclosed rooftop grease containment systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for providing, maintaining and accessing recording announcements in a telecommunications system. In the preferred embodiment, the system comprises at least one central office coupled to a telecommunication network. An announcement service node comprising a data schema and an application for accessing the data schema is coupled to the telecommunications network. The announcement service node is accessible by one or more central offices coupled to the telecommunications network. A storage mass is coupled to the announcement service node for storing recorded announcements.

Abstract: A method for providing enhanced call return in a wireless network is disclosed. The method includes receiving a call placed to a mobile subscriber from a caller, determining whether the mobile subscriber is a subscriber to an enhanced call return service, loading a mobile subscriber mailbox with caller-specific information, establishing a connection between the mobile subscriber and the mobile subscriber mailbox, retrieving caller-specific information from the mobile subscriber mailbox, and placing a return call to the caller.

Abstract: A system for providing call processing services to one or more customers includes a network configured to receive, from a first client, a fax transmission attempt intended for a second client associated with a customer. A network call processor within the network is configured to screen a first fax telephone number corresponding to the first client and a second fax telephone number corresponding to the second client and determine whether to deliver a fax transmission to the second client.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing or entirely canceling background or ambient noise from a voice transmission from a communications device. A communications device, such as a mobile telephone, is configured with an ambient noise compensation signal generator that is connected between a microphone and a mixer. The original output of the microphone and a compensation signal generated by the ambient noise compensation signal generator are mixed together prior to being passed to a transmitter. In one embodiment a buffer is provided between the microphone and the mixer to help synchronize the timing of the signals to be mixed. In another embodiment a second microphone is employed to detect ambient noise.

Abstract: A ringtone system is provided to a called party that wishes to have a particular ringtone annunciated for each of several types of calls from calling parties. In the ringtone system, for a call from a calling party, the calling party is prompted to identify the type of the call. The type of the call is received from the calling party, and if no type is received, the call is typed in a particular manner. A list of types of calls with respect to and as specified by the called party is maintained, where each type of call on the list has a corresponding ringtone specified therefor. The typed call is processed by determining from the list of types of calls for the called party the corresponding ringtone specified for the typed call, and by putting the call through to the called party with the determined ringtone.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and systems of accessing data via a legacy computer system. A screen field configuration file for a legacy computer system is accessed, where the screen field configuration file storing screen field information. One or more screen fields are identified. Each identified screen field has a screen field identifier and one or more screen field location identifiers stored in the configuration file. One or more screen field objects are created, where each screen field object corresponds to an identified screen field.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method that employs a centralized properties server accessible from multiple applications using established computer network protocols. Applications that need configuration variables can make a request to the properties server. The server will then provide configuration values based on the attribute requested. Java applications may request property information by the use of the Java Remote Method Invocation and other applications may request information through a CORBA gateway server.

Abstract: Fixture guard panels and systems provide protection for fixtures such as tubs and showers. The fixture guard panels may have a variety of configurations such as including an enclosure formed of a flexible material that contains a padding layer. The panel may be placed adjacent the fixture such that the panel protects the fixture from impacts and abrasions. The panel may include individual sheets of material to enclose padding, may include padding without an enclosure, or may include an individual sheet without padding. The individual sheets may be materials such as polyethylene and/or non-skid rubber. For panels with non-skid rubber, the panel may be positioned so that the non-skid rubber portion contacts the fixture and will not skid. Panels may include flexible sheets with adhesive that adheres to the fixture, such as upon vertical fixture surfaces. Additionally, multiple panels may be included as a system.

Abstract: A method for generating a chronic circuit report for use in maintaining a communication network is provided. The method comprises the steps of searching a database for information regarding circuit exceptions reported in a communication system, compiling a listing of circuits and circuit exception information, prioritizing the listing of the circuits based on the circuit exception information, and generating a circuit exception report.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that include a user interface that enables a user to request a pre-defined report. The user may specify either or both of an electronic mail delivery address for the report and an interval at which the report is to be updated. Such systems and methods enable a particular report to be produced and formatted only once, and then provided to multiple users, thereby eliminating the production and formatting of redundant reports.
