Abstract: Traffic disturbances are detected and data is collected by various sensors where the data reflects the entity that is responsible for the disturbance and the number of vehicles that are impacted by the disturbance. The data is analyzed to determine whether a traffic violation has occurred and to then assess a fine based at least on the number of vehicles that have been impacted as a result of the traffic violation. The fine may then be collected by notifying the entity that is responsible, such as by sending a message to an electronic device of the entity. The notification may provide for an automated payment of the fine or an option to appeal the fine. Additionally, those affected by the traffic disturbance may be identified and granted a portion of the fine that has been imposed and collected.

Abstract: Customized transactional cards are created in one of various ways. The card holder may obtain a blank transactional card already having an encoded account number, create a customized design, and then apply the customized design to the blank transaction card such as by printing the design onto a label to be applied to the blank transactional card or directly onto the card. The card holder may obtain a blank transactional card which has not yet been authorized with an account number, create a customized design, apply the customized design to the transactional card, and at some point send the transactional card to the card issuer where it can be authorized by having an account number applied to it and then returned to the card holder. The card holder may access a web site to create a customized design and then the card issuer creates the transactional card according to the customized design and sends the transactional card having an encoded account number to the card holder.

Abstract: A mesh suitable for use as a light attenuating screen is disclosed. The mesh may contain not less than two sheets of glass yarn, joined to form a mesh having a specific openness factor and coated with a polymer coating containing TiO2 particles, so that the glass yarn is separated from TiO2 particles by at least a portion of the polymer binder. A method for making a mesh suitable for use as a light attenuating screen is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and system for processing a remote order is described that allows a customer to remotely send a signal to a business. The signal contains the order information for the customer and what the customer wants from the business. Thus, this system allows the business to process such an order before the customer arrives at the business, preventing idle time by the customer at the business while the order is being processed.

Abstract: Securing devices secure the position of protective pads on the arms of a user of the protective pads. A sheet of material having an aperture is placed over the head with the head of the user passing through the aperture. The sheet of material may be pliable so as to fit to the shoulders of the user. Suspension members are connected to the sheet of material on opposite sides of the aperture and the suspension members include attachment devices on distal ends. The attachment devices connect to the protective pads of the wearer to hold the protective pads in place. The attachment devices may be detachable from the protective pads so that the user may utilize the securing device in conjunction with protective pads that the user already has.

Abstract: Clients using standard software protocols may access a validation application server for validation service on data via a number of methods including Internet applications, a Java RMI server, a CORBA gateway server and graphical screen interphase applications. The validation server provides validation service on the data based on dynamically-maintained, centrally-stored validation functions.

Abstract: A privacy system determines in connection with a call from a particular calling party whether a name identification thereof is available, and if so allows the call to be put through to the called party with the name identification. The called party thus can review the name identification of the calling party prior to determining whether to answer the call. The privacy system includes a list of privileged calling parties with respect to and as specified by the called party, and if the name identification is not available, the privacy system determines whether the calling party is on such list. If so, the privacy system allows the call to be put through to the called party without the name identification.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating new communications services are disclosed. One embodiment of the invention is a method for developing an application strategy, which can be used to develop a new communications service of the invention. The method includes the steps of analyzing limitations of an existing communications network, interpreting market forces associated with the communications network, understanding customer needs in using the communications network, and defining an application strategy to meet the customer needs. The method includes an analysis of interactions among communications networks, communications applications, and communications devices. Preferably, two or more communications networks are included to provide the communications service.

Abstract: A system and method is described for transcribing a recorded message automatically from a voicemail message system or an answering machine. The designated message may be automatically transcribed and forwarded to various archival devices, such as a printer, a facsimile machine, computer memory storage, or email. Thus, the system and method of the present invention automates the transcription process of a recorded message eliminating the need for a person to transcribe the message.

Abstract: A first device receives first information and second information, encrypts the first information with a first set of encryption keys, and encrypts a combination of the second information and the encrypted first information with a second set of encryption keys into a first message. The first device may send the first message to a second device that receives the first message, decrypts the first message with a third set of encryption keys to yield the second information and the encrypted first information, determines a third information based on the second information, and encrypts into a second message, a combination of the third information and the encrypted first information, with a fourth set of encryption keys. The second message may be sent to a third device for decryption.

Abstract: Heat exchanger systems for go-karts include a heat exchanger and a plenum that channels air to the heat exchanger to increase cooling efficiency while reducing drag. The plenum has an intake with an area less than a cross-sectional area of a portion of the plenum where the heat exchanger is located to allow velocity air pressure to decrease while increasing static air pressure. The plenum and heat exchanger may be located at various sites on the go-kart including in front of the driver position, beside the driver position, and behind the driver position. Additionally, a centrifugal fan may be included in the plenum to increase the velocity air pressure to overcome internal losses. Also, a plenum body portion may be included on the rear side of the heat exchanger to channel air away from the heat exchanger.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for managing multiple call processing services by establishing a connection to a service control point; rendering a call management profile maintained by the service control point in substantially real time using a Web-enabled interface, the call management profile indicating two or more call processing services currently available to a customer; manipulating the call management profile by specifying at least one of a sequence for prioritizing the call processing services and schedule for providing the call processing services at different times.

Abstract: A system and method for interacting with a workflow system is disclosed. The system can provide a first party access to a virtual folder by placing the virtual folder into a first virtual workbasket and the system can provide access to a the virtual folder to a second party. The system can also provide access to the virtual folder to a third party, that has different rights to view and/or modify the virtual folder. In some cases, the third party can interact with the virtual folder regardless of where the virtual folder is located. The workflow system also includes provisions that permit the tracking, troubleshooting and management of virtual folders and/or related jobs.

Abstract: A system for transacting business with customers is disclosed. The system includes a dispatch division receiving a complaint from a customer related to a problem the customer is experiencing. The dispatch division then deploys a technician to repair the problem. While the technician is conducting the repair, the system permits the technician to interact with the customer and negotiate and close deals for additional or modified products, services or features that the customer may want. The system also includes provisions for allowing the technician to retrieve information related to the customer and includes features that automatically notify various appropriate business offices for follow-up with the customer.

Abstract: A device for emergency transport of pediatric patients that safely and efficiently transports a pediatric patient to a medical facility is described. The device enables the transport of pediatric trauma patients on a conventional stretcher while still enabling a backboard to be used therewith to immobilize a critically-injured patient. Additionally, the device provides for more comfortable and sanitary transport of a pediatric patient by adding a disposable padded cushion, which is placed on the device prior to placing the child in the device for emergency transport.
